P-51 ESCORT Mission | Protect the B-17 BOMBERS (War Thunder) 

It was an event. Guardian angels i think it was called. americans went in P-51 and P-47 or B-17 and escorted a formation a B-17s and Germans went in 109's, FW's, and 410's. I thought this video was of the event and i got really excited to play it

John Sledge it was Guarding Angels as the dude above said that was with K-4 attacking the formations and Battle for Swallows that was with the 262s engaging but for some reason they removed them from the events but they still exist in custom battle options

So special events like this pop up in the game from time to time? I'm new to War Thunder and are trying to figure out where you get in on missions like this. Thanks!

@@dieseljester3466 Yes, they tend to pop up from time to time. Just log in every day and you'll see it on the events tab on the top right hand corner.

Problem: Now every fighter ingame can engage the bombers. Every game would be Fighters kill bombers Fighters engage fighters Every game turns into a last man standing or 60 minutes battle

PhlyDaily true I can't deny that but you have done so many customs like these and they always end up being a shitfest (of course not your fault :D) but it would be amazing to try have a tactical bombing custom game with escorts . I have done it in the past with my old squadron and 6 others that brought people for this event we created and trust me , a proper tactical bombing mission with bombers with diamond formations ( talking for 17 bombers ) allied fighters flying in pairs of 4 or 2 around the formation (8 fighters or 12) (we kinda crushed the Moscow map when it was first introduced but k :p) and the enemy to play smart in order to succeed in the mission. Give it a try you and if you succeed you will have a fucking great time.

+edit The enemy fighters should be around 12-16

I use it sometimes to indicate that i am changing altitude in realistic mode. Bc people crash sometimes during takeoff

I use it while pairing up with teammates to see who’s with me, after that smokes off

in real life, couldn´t the 163s climb vertical? How is that in WT?

I’m guessing 163s were for bombers that made it through somehow 163s can climb at a good angle in WT but not straight up for too long

I agree. Air RB as it is now isn't much fun and gets repetitive after a while and it focuses too much on fighters. The bigger portion of bombers and ground strikers is pretty much useless and gets killed instantly. And there's just a certain amount of fighters that fit in the competitive meta. It would be nice to play larger air battles with a respawn system like in tank RB where every type of aircraft has a viable and engaging role.

its the last footage of that P51 the recorder got destroyed in the blast but somehow the tape survived and this is what we saw and now we know why he died

He plays more jets than props, with jets you need TAS because of current stupid metagame, primary speed is life and you need to know precisely what's your exact TAS at every moment.

LeandrysRX8 Even if you’re using TAS, if you’re just climbing at a constant angle you run the risk of being at an inefficient airspeed given that you’d eventually need to decrease your AoA to maintain your desired climbspeed regardless of IAS or TAS.

There's is an indicator for your fuselage's incidency on virtual view, helping you to measure how your plane is flying at your speed compared to altitude. IAS is a lot overrated by players, you don't need it at all with fast planes once you are experienced. It helps you a lot when you lack knowledge and experience with your plane, later you don't need it at all, or almost so.

Matthew Kirk Doesn't work, tried it before and didn't work, plus, how are you supposed to know what IAS you're supposed to climb at with a certain plane? Climbing at an angle is better and to climb by IAS is just stupid.

The buttons are big enough, I just don't have enough keys.
