Beautiful job! I just purchased the same model. It looks simple to put together but the painting and the applying of the decals seem very difficult.....Hope I can do it....Thanks for the video!
I am unsure about Miss Marilyn, but the flying Big Beautiful Doll has replica markings. The original - she was repainted then reduced to pots and pans post-war.Many Flying Mustangs use famous wartime markings. (Also true of other types asuch as _-38s, P-39s, P-40s, P-47's and P-51s.) Not all of them, but a significant number.
First, did you varnish these (both the Miss Marilyn II as well as the other model you show in this video, Big Beautiful Doll)? Second, if you did, did you go with gloss or matte varnish? It's pretty obvious you didn't use flat but I'm wondering if you used gloss or matte if, in fact, you did use varnish on them. Thanks.
Since my go-to acrylic paint, Model Master Acryl, is no longer available, was wondering what acrylic paint do you use? What thinning medium do you use? How do you thin for hand-brushing and for airbrushing? Do you use any dry retarder or flow improver for your painting? Really enjoy your build videos!
Hey thanks man I enjoy making them, I love using Vallejo paints. Their colors seem to be spot on and can be thinned very well with just water. I make sure to mix my water very thoroughly. Vallejo primer as well. I thin for airbrushing but don't for paint brushing
@@scaleresurrectionmodeler7379 Thanks for your response! Do you use Vallejo Model Air or Model Color paint? Approx what thinning ratio do you use (paint:water)?
Ohh no problem man thats why I do this,, so Both, model air you don't have to thin at all unless you are doing really detailed work!! And for regular Vallejo, I usually do 30 water to 70 paint.
When the engine is switched off, the flaps are selected down and the inner gear doors drop due to loss of hydraulic pressure. When they start up and have hydraulic pressure everything raises again. So in this case it would be best to have the inner doors closed, or the flaps down as well. Kermit Weeks explains this in his videos. Nice model.
Wings had no rivets visible. They were sunk and filled at factory and wing was painted silver. Fuselage had some rivets and was bare aluminum. That was one of the keys to its speed was the smooth wing. Also both big beautiful dolls were destroyed in crashes. One in the UK with a collision with a skyraider. Other in Arizona with the loss of 2 people. The BBD scheme is cursed so Noone Flys with it anymore.
@@scaleresurrectionmodeler7379 maybe another 78th FG? Bum Steer and Twilight Tear in same checkered nose. The one that had the gear up Jeff Pino owned and was killed in.
I honestly recco.end not using the paints I used on this one, I'd say. Buy the 2 vellejo metallic aluminum panels set and use those. They are great to spray good amount abs acrylic. So water based
