Welcome to another vlog series on P&O Iona.
We sailed from Southampton on the 13th November for a 2 week trip down to the Canary Islands and finishing up with 2 days in Lisbon.
It was an amazing cruise and we enjoyed some good weather whilst down in the Canaries, but also had to contend with storm Arwen on the way home which Iona handled extremely well.
This is the 2nd cruise we have been on since going onto a plant based diet, we hoping the food was going to be a better experience than our cruise in august, this time the variety was much better and we didn't have to eat Chips all the time :)
In this video we arrived at Lanzarote, our last stop in the Canaries, we has an excursion booked, a boat trip to the smallest inhabited Canary Island, La Graciosa.
This excursion was by far the best excursion of the cruise, a brilliant day with food and unlimited drinks, including alcohol, a trip to a very secluded beach with use of kayaks all included, the guides for this trip were also really informative.
However when we got back to our cabin, Kelly found something in the room whilst having a tidy up.... not for the faint hearted...
We finished the evening with a meal in the coral MDR and then watched a comedian in the Club House "John Ryan", one of the best comedians we have seen.

Loved watching that. Brought back great memories of that trip and we even saw ourselves on film.... thanks for not cutting that out ..... It was definitely the best weather on the whole cruise, I think the only day we managed any sunbathing. We also thought the comedian was great and enjoyed our evenings in the clubhouse. Liked your summary at the end of the day, think you had had one or two🍺🍺But where is Matt’s hand in the reflection in the mirror 😂😂 Love to you both Andrew & Jules xx

LOL reminds me of the time we got to our room, started unpacking our cases, and found something in the safe... Inside a loosely tired small plastic bag like you use for fruit at a supermarket: a fairly damp, slightly smelly, pair of black knickers.

Hi guys. What a wonderful day out,fantastic, and you captured it beautifully. We want to go back on a canary cruise just to go on that trip. Looks like the " Tooth Fairy " had too many Passion Star Martini's in The Sunset Bar again. ( Like me and Mand 😁). The clear water and the lovely beach, well !! you could have been in the Caribbean. Another enjoyable vlog, good to see the blue sky and clear sea. We've never visited La Graciosa but on top of the mountain that you pointed out that is much taller than you think there is a fantastic view of the whole of the island from the road, I remember seeing the dormant volcanoes and villages so well and the tenders sailing back and forth from the village. You should have kept that tooth and put it under your pillow to see how much the Spanish tooth fairy would leave for it.

Gosh that's a video and a half ! Excursion looked fantastic, never knew about that Islands. As for the tooth....... How weird and yes I wait to see what head of guest services has to say. On our last cruise we pre ordered a box of chocolates for our cabin and they got delivered to nextdoor in error. P&O expected the cabin steward to pay for another box out of her own money, very unfair I thought. I love Iona but I do find P&O lacking in some aspects of upper management.

Yes the excursion was fantastic, we were so lucky with the weather too! As for the tooth…. Well we thought that P&O may have contacted us regarding this but nothing! I do feel that customer service is lacking in some areas but we still love cruising with them. Thanks for commenting and for watching our vlog 👍🏻

Hi guys, I’m really enjoying your videos. We are booked on our first cruise finally happening in April so I’ve been worried about what to expect as we are also vegan! Any tips for where to eat? Did you take your own milk? Also we are bearish the front of the ship and I wondered if you felt the motion you mentioned in your earlier video through the nights too? Sorry for all the questions 😂 x

Hi, how exiting 😆 in the buffet they have all sorts of different milk substitutes, it’s around where the cereals are, but if you can’t find what you are looking for, just ask at that counter and they will go and grab some for you, if you decide to go to one of the main dining restaurants for breakfast, just ask when you order from the waiter. We found that the keel and cow on Iona had 2 different fantastic vegan meals and on all the other ships, there is a restaurant called Sindhu which has a vegetarian option but when you book just let them know and they will change it to a vegan option. Hopefully this helps a little. We had one night that we could feel the motion of the ocean, but that was in storm Arwen so to be expected. Thanks for watching 😊

Hiya, really enjoying your vlogs thank you so much for sharing! It's really cool to see you are vegan, I'm vegetarian but do try to eat vegan too. I've never done a cruise before and am watching videos to see what they are like. I'm looking at Iona because I read it is a 'greener' ship, and the environmental side of cruising is what is putting me off, and I really want to go! Did you find it was quite an eco friendly ship (as much as they can be?) Thank you!

Hi thank you for watching, both of the new P&O cruise ships are as environmentally friendly as you can get with any ship(Iona and Arvia) they us liquified gas as there fuel, so out of any ship (cruise or merchant) they are the greenest you can get. With regards to food, Arvia will have a dedicated restaurant that serves vegan and vegetarian food, vegetarian options are extremely good on Iona so we assume this will be the same if not better on Arvia, they are doing other things on board as well, not using drink placemats anymore, water bottles are no longer plastic but aluminium cans etc.. asking you to reuse towels etc, and always have advice on the screens in the cabins advising you about recycling and helping the environment. We hope you find this of some help, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience if you decide to go.
