I've heard this guy on a few VLogs already, and his full name is out there somewhere along with his history. He's famous for all the wrong reasons. Public shaming can do wonders.
It normally would be a taxi way during normal operations so it would appear much narrower than the normal RWY18. However, that is clearly explained in the Notam he didn't read.
@@Sample_246 Had he read the NOTAM... It's pretty clear that 18R is a runway as it is striped with precision markings, 18L is narrower and striped for visual approaches. I could see the confusion if he asked about 18L. Nonetheless, I can't believe this man has a ticket.
Oh yeah there's no doubt that the guy messed up. A lot of GA pilots (at least the ones I know) don't do any real complex or non-standard arrivals in their pilotage. This guy could have only visited a few airports besides his home one or just takes his 172 out for a VFR flight that returns to his home airport when he's done. The approach, procedures, and the land marks could all be muscle memory which leads to complacency and degradation of pilotage skills. Either way, I think he could use re-cert training after hearing this audio.
@@Sample_246 No doubt! GA complacency kills a lot of pilots who never put a thought into Aeronautical Decision Making. Hopefully next time he flies the Fisk arrival and departure procedures for each runway in MSFS before even driving to the airport.
