On 5.4 triton a cam follower could pop out and cause misfire, you can go through all the things mentioned in this video and still have an engine that is stumbling. Take the valve covers off as a last possible diagnostic, poke around looking for parts out of position.
after 2 months of nightmare trying 2 fix this code and 100$ in unnecessary parts, finally found that dirt under the coil packs on the metal plate was triggering my misfires. when in doubt switch coil packs and see if the code jumps cylinders.
Ok Champ, I'm confused.. I have a 2003 ford Expedition.. 8 cylinder .. I changed all coils and plugs myself... coils were $35 ea.. plugs were $2....I made this purchase 5-6 yrs ago they are a little more now... If I had the dealer do the work I would be out $1000 plus.. I'm saying you are quoting parts list cost for which vehicles??
I just recently changed my ignition coils 2 weeks ago and out of the blue today i got a P0306... i will change that spark plug. those were changed in January as well.
had same issues, this code of cyl. 6 misfire and bank 2 too lean. Engine running running rough and shaking at various speeds on the road, and idle. Mechanic ran the codes and replaced the #6 spark plug and coil. Runs perfectly now and power restored. I wouldn't think one cylinder misfiring on a V-8 would shake the engine like that. Oh well, problem solved.
literally have the same problem right now, changed both spark plugs and coil but still have the issue pls help someone help idk wtf im gonna do on my 5.7 hemi
I got 2000 gmc sierra v6 with po306 code and check engine light is on and flashes regularly. Changed plugs, wires, distributor with cap and rotor, cleaned the MAF, replaced pcv valve, and poured Seafoam in my gas tank. Cleared the truck's computer for an hour and still getting the code. I guess next step is taking it to go get a compression test. If compression is good, then maybe replace the fuel injectors.
UGH!!! Been dealing with cylinder 6 issues for more than 6 months! I HATE JEEP! And I HATE Jeep dealerships! I have a new coil pack, new plugs, wires, and catalytic converter. Turned out, my #6 and #4 misfire codes was not fixed by replacing my Coil Pack, Spark Plugs, and Wires. Took it back to my mechanics several times. Weren't able to fix the problem. Jeep told me a couple of months ago it was my catalytic converter. My mechanics also told me that. I replaced the cat. Took it to Jeep in State College, Pennsylvania (I live in Chicago) recently, after it didn't want to start, after driving 11 hrs. Hmm. One of the worst Jeep dealerships in the US. 🤬They said one of my sparkplug wires was "loose". Took it in for in-depth diagnostic. Said my coil, plugs, wires, air intake, and everything on that long list of possible issues in the 6 & 4, passed - except they "thought" it "may" be the Fuel Injectors. I'm out of ideas, options, and $$$$. This is one of the 2 worst vehicles I've ever owned. Since day-one when I bought it brand new! It's been in the shop constantly! Can't buy another car at this time. At one time, I even complained to a notorious mob boss about Jeep, whose CEO lived about 12 minutes away from the Don. Shortly afterward, Sergio Marchionne died of "unknown causes" supposedly. But my worthless $54k Rubicon is still worthless.
I can't imagine replacing the plugs, wires & coils but not replacing the fuel injectors for #4 & #6, or at least testing them. Replacing the cat? They were just being nasty there.
I have a P0306 on my 2000 Tacoma, and even though 'they' told me it was likely, spark plugs, wires or coils, or an injector - I think it is the mass airflow sensor. Why? Because it is an existing, known issue. Many years ago I had the MAF cleaned instead of replacing it and that fixed the issue for years but now I have this CEL and I wonder if it is the MAF and not actually plugs or wires or coils, or an injector? What do you all think?
i changed the o2 sensor, spark plug and ignition coil after i changed everything i manually cleared the code and it goes away for about 90 miles and then the light comes back on
Good question PK! Yes, we think it's better to go ahead and replace all of them if you're getting to a place where one is worn down enough to trigger a code. (i.e. a 50,000-mile mark) There is a method to our explanation though. For the sake of clarity, we want people to understand the individual spark plug is related to a specific cylinder. Also on the off chance this is happening in a new car - we want them to understand it could be a single faulty spark plug. Not engine failure. Cheers!
Have p0306 code on my 3.6 chrysler 200. Cant swap plugs or coil. Have to take intake manifold to get to them. Once I swap I have to put manifold back on to test them. If swap does work have to take manifold off again to swap again.
I replaced my distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs and wires last year and about 1 month ago i started getting cylinder 6 misfire should i check for the other things or check if those parts are faulty
Hey I have changed spark plugs, ignition coils and also injectors I’m still having the same issue. Cylinder 6 misfire what could be the problem can you help me plz. My wife accidentally put the diesel in it. So I drained cleaned the lines and changed everything mention above plz help me
Did you ever get it fixed? My truck is having the same problem. We replaced the spark plugs, spark plug wires and one coil and it still is shaking and shifting hard.
Ok i am having that code on an a dodge 3500 promaster i hve changed the spark plugs coil and injector still same thing what could i look at next also i did a compression test all cylinders passed
My 2006 ford f150 can drive perfectly until I am going to park when I’m driving slow or turning into a parking spot. Then it begins to shake and stall out. I just for this code yesterday when driving uphill. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? A friend told me could be mass air flow sensor
What if all my cylinders are misfiring would would be there reason my vsa light comes on and my van doesn't wanna keep charge and start it lets me reverse but doesn't let me go forward they said it could be a sensor but idk what sensor
Have a p306 and p0300 misfires detected in all cylinders, i replaced all 6 sparked plugs and one coil on my 6th cylinder and still showing codes, any suggestions. Also have a small vacum leak p0456 ...2011 mercedes c300...
P0306 on 2013 ford f150 3.7 came in replaced 6 cylinder coil and all spark plugs worked for a few days then came on again and engine sputters pretty bad now?
I have a 08 Nissan Altima .my car shut off suddenly while driving now don't turn on atval. I put daxsxanner on it and it gave me p0306. I don't understand it. Please help. Wat do u do and what does it ,mean
my car is Passat cc 4 cylinder and yet im getting the code error p0306 which means cylinder number 6 ? is that normal and what should I do since there's no cylinder number 6. please help
I have a Saturn l300 2005 I'm having a po306. I change the coil pack and spark plugs and wee k s later I got the po306 code. Could it perhaps be a fault inside my ECM?
I got a p0306 cylinder 6 misfire detected code & suggested parts valve springs & valve cover Any advice ? ima check the simple stuff before I go off buy the 4 valves springs & labor for cylinder 6
I read not to drive because it can cause major damage to the engine. Here is the link where I read it on. P0306 Code: How To Fix Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected Problem obd2pros.com/dtc-codes/p0306/
Pull the plugs first, if they don't look good replace them all(unless your going the cheap route then just replace the #6 plug) and go from there. If it is still misfires then try swapping the coils like in this video (If the misfire moves to the cylinder you swapped the coil from you know that you have a bad coil and need to replace that coil. you dont have to replace them all but its not a bad idea.)and if it still misfires in the same cylinder after that swap a plug wire and replace the injector. If none of that fixes it (or moves the misfire) then you have an internal problem (Valves, Lifters, ETC.)
Depends on if your keeping or selling. I got a set of 6 coils for a 3.6 for $85 with plugs. I wouldn't buy that cheap crap if I was keeping it, but as long as it runs good during the test drive.....
I have a 2016 f150 3.5 non EcoBoost , I have misfire on 6 cylinder. The codes are both p0206 & p0306 , I switched coils with number 5 & 6 And still have misfire ?
I have a P306 code also on my Audi Q7 4.2. I replaced all spark plugs and coils and cleared the engine light. The code came back on for the same cylinder 6 misfire after putting about 55 miles on it. It would actually be the second time I’ve replaced the spark and coil on cylinder #6, thinking that the parts may have been defective. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Doesn't work on all vehicles. I can't switch my coil pack around because it's a bar. I've got an inline straight 6, all 6 spark plugs are in one side and my coil pack is a bar that runs across them. That being said though I replaced my coil pack and plugs and im still having problems so I think I know what it is.
@@anthonyaguirre837 nope. Never figured it out. Replaced the coil pack, replaced the fuel injectors, replaced the spark plugs, even added a heat shield. Nothing worked. Ended up having to get rid of the vehicle and bought a newer truck.
