Comparing the two curves had me struggling to notice a difference and question why CCM would ditch a curve like the P30 which is quite different than other offerings to bring in such a similar curve to the P28 in the P90TM
The TM plays different then the 28 The toe is rounded on the TM and seals the ice with more of the blade on shot release. It opens more then the 28 which is why the puck can be released further forward in your stance. The 28 is designed to release further back in your stance and the lie forces a more drastic toe flex. This happens because the toe is lifted compared to the TM

@@ryanpeabody9388 yeah seems like both perform the same as my shooting style changes depending on situation. If I have time to shoot that way I will but my game is also a quick snap style and seems to perform well for both in both of these blades. But again just my experience with it and opinion. I figured would be a more controversial video lol
Agree they are very similar, but personally I can do more on my backhand with the P90TM. There's a flatter spot in the middle of the P90TM which allows for it, IMHO
CCM- if you’re watching this, please don’t discontinue the P90TM. I love this curve. It has wildly different than the P28. This guy clearly doesn’t shoot off the toe, or use toe drags, and that’s fine. For us that do play off the toe, the two sticks are categorically different. AND the TM IS slightly more open. The difference between these two is more than the 929 / P88.
This vid is old. I was wrong it’s a popular curve. Most brands have it now. With they said it’s not newly as good for shooting as a 28 off the toe as you said. Watch my other vids I shoot off the toe in most highlights
i love the p14 like you on my fly lite but mine is breaking so i’m looking to get a trigger 6 so what would you recommend as of lately for similarity to p14 (i like wrist shots and snap shots)
I really like the P90TM. To me it’s really reminiscent of the Nathan MacKinnon curve that he was using in years past when he was using the CCM Ribcore. Little more flat in the middle with that toe hook. I tried it and I absolutely loved it. I felt like my stickhandling was better and then if I wanted to get that quick Shot off, I could do it accurately and with some power. It’s quickly emerging as one of my if not my top favorite curve on the market right now. You kind of get the best of both worlds. I know a lot of people are hesitant to try it, but my suggestion is to give it a try, it might pleasantly surprise you like it did me. To me there’s a flatter lie on the blade like if you put the blade on a table and rocket the P 28 will rock more naturally where you will hit a flat spot in the blade on the P 90TM and it doesn’t rock as much which to me means you have more blade coverage on the ice, which will help with stickhandling. I think that’s the major difference.
Yes. It’s pretty old now though so been awhile. However the laine is a huge shooting curve and it’s not similar to the p90tm at all. The laine is actually amazing wish it was retail
I currently use a p88 and tried to move to a p29. My shot immediately improved but I’m losing the puck while stick handling more often due to the lie of the p29/92. Is there anything that’s between a p88 and p29? Ideally something I can pick the corners with easier like the p29 but has a lie similar to the p88.
Both the p28 and p90tm which are very similar are better curves than the ones you mentioned in my opinion. They are just more shooters curves. The ones you mentioned are passing jack of all trades in my opinion

Interesting to hear this from a P28 perspective. I tend to use P92, and sometimes P88. I also have sticks with P28, and a couple months ago I picked up a JetSpeed 3 Team for $80 (CAD) in P90TM. Personally, I really dislike P28. I just can't shoot well with it, whereas I shoot way better with P92 and P88. For P90TM, I find that it shoots very similar to P92, just a little higher. I much prefer P90TM over P28. There's just something with P28 which doesn't work for me. For deking and toe drags, I find that P90TM is way easier to deke and do toe drags with than P92. It dekes and stuff the same as P28 for me. I think that P90TM was sort of made to be a curve which works for everyone. I'm fine with it, and I use P92. And I dislike P28. You're fine with it and you use P28, and you aren't a fan of P92. The max height was not really true max height either, so it works for people who like and people who dislike max blade height. The reason why it's called P90TM is because it's a modification of P90. P90 was basically identical to P92, but had a 5.5 lie. Jamie Benn used to use P90, but wanted more toe. He made a custom curve (P90T, aka pro Benn), which was P90, but with a P28 toe, so that's where the T (toe modification) comes from. M is obviously for max blade (but it's not full max blade for some reason). So basically P90TM is a curve which works for everyone. I'd have no problem using it instead of P92, and people who use P28 would have no problem using it instead of P28. Edit: True is also going to introduce TC6 this year on the HZRDUS line, which will basically be a clone of P90T/P90TM.
Appreciate all the information. The p90 tm is a far more modern curve compared to the p88 and p92 which is why I feel it’s so similar to the 28. I couldn’t shoot with the 28 coming from a p14 awhile back either but eventually figured it out. The p88 is such an old school curve as well. Used a number of times and I just feel it’s concept is dated. I can see why they tried to merge the p90tm to make a hybrid blade but for me the changes were to small to notice. I’ve been using a p90tm and p28 back and forth in a ribcore and jet speed for videos and have not noticed one bit a difference in shooting at all. But like you just said so subjective it was just my take and if it works for you and not the p28 you gotta use it. I hate using curves that don’t work for me!

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I currently use the ft4 pro but I don’t like how the puck feel is as well as I feel like I don’t get as much power as I’d like at times. I had been researching and leaning towards either the as4 pro or ultrasonic but have heard mixed reviews about both. A friend let me borrow his as2 pro for a session and enjoyed it which made me more interested in the Supertacks stick line. I play forward and like to take all types of shots but mainly it is one timers and snapshots. Which correlates to why I was looking into the ultrasonic.
@@kadenp4505 crazy not many people say they dislike the Ft4 but everyone is different. If that’s the case I would avoid the ultrasonic that stick is one of worst I have ever used. My suggestion would be to try the as4 then as I currently have one and enjoy it.

@@kadenp4505 good stuff! Yes avoid the ultrasonic at all costs. One of Bauer’s big fails. As4 loads softer than the Ft4 pro and the feel in the blade is different so hopefully works better for you.
Yep. I mentioned that. Unfortunately I’m not a huge fan of Bauer sticks lately. I’m hoping one day they get back to their glory days and I can pick up one of their sticks again with the p14 😎 sucks CcM doesn’t do customized sticks with curves like p30 etc. Bauer does have a lot of curve options online it’s their best feature
The video is quite old the curve has taken off for many people that enjoy it. I find it’s to similar still but I was wrong in saying it would be gone. Very popular curve
is the p90tm a hybrid of the p28 and p29? I currently use p29 but looking get p90tm or p28 for toe drags better and stick handling. I heard p90tm is able toe drags like p28 and doesn’t scarsfice the backhand shot compared p28 not good with back hand shots
It’s supposed to be a hybrid yes. Is it actually in practice? In my opinion no it plays like a p28 and is very similar. It’s a popular curve but I think it’s mostly in peoples heads
@@ryanonderdonk4575 yep. The rocker is slightly different than the p28 and is supposed to be a bit more forgiving in shooting. But the shot, drags, release and loft all the same for me. It’s a very small difference over p28.
i've been using p28 from when it first came out. i have a P90TM on my main stick (Ft3 Pro) i would say the biggest difference to me is in the backhand. P28 is way easier to back hand with and i cannot backhand sauce with consistency with the p90TM
Interesting haven’t noticed the back hand. Been using a p90tm for a few games since no p28 jet speeds are availble and out of stock. Even way after this video still zero difference. I never back hand so don’t notice haha. Unfortunately maybe out of jet speeds all together soon in both p28 and 90. Darn supply issues

P28 seems to be more straight at the heel. but i have no issues shooting forhand with either stick. i think it was CCMs attempt to make more of a max height blade. supposedly its a combo of p29 and p28. but i dont know. whatever right?
@@jakebenigni yah it is slightly taller blade. I miss the p30 maybe that’s why I think they should have done something a bit different lol I’m surprised you’re main stick is an ft3 pro. Loved those sticks too but broke super fast for me other wise I would pick up a bunch on clearance
p90tm is Tavares custom curve and they decided to make it into a retail curve it supposed to be a p92 but added more toe like the p28 but really they are to similar for a retail option
I ended up leaving warrior and going to ccm after shooting the trigger 6 pro. Sooo much more pop on my shots compared to my qre10. I think you’re gonna really enjoy it boomer if you’re a low kick guy!
To me a P90TM is more similar to the P29/P92 than a P28. It's really more like a hybrid between a P28 and a P29/P92. Either way, P90TM is a sweet curve.
This vid super old, but could not pick up a p28 in my first asv and went with p90tm and couldn’t tell a difference so for me the curve just to similar to what’s already there would prefer they have something much different available in the p30 etc like back in the day. Having two curves so similar just seems wasteful
I’ll add to list. However the p88 is a massive difference. Short blade, not great for shooting. Mostly a passing curve in my opinion. Most shots stay on the ice from the heel and lose power to use the toe
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews in my own personal experience, I shoot harder with the p88 and I can get good accuracy, it just requires a little more effort. With the p28, it seems like corners are so easy to hit, but going middle of the net or lower can be a struggle. I just want to get the viewpoint of someone with a lot of experience since I haven’t been playing too long
@@joshyurko4621 if you’re comfortable with a curve you will generally have more success and have that feel for it better. I never could shoot with a p88 despite trying a number of times. Originally I used a p14 and tried the p88 and preferred the 14 over the 88. But again very subjective
Crazy, Almost bought a p90tm the other day by accident for a new ribcore trigger 6 for an upcoming video and didn’t notice till just later in the shooting test center. I just looked at the curve and was like yep that’s a p28 when I bought it lol. That’s how similar they are. Now the p29 that’s a whole other beast just awful curve I couldn’t slap shot with it either I had to buy it for the catalyst px was all they have so I’m with you the p29 not a shooters curve for my style. You’re probably similar and your shooting style doesn’t work with that older style curve
I bought jet speed 4 pro 90 tm omg what a stick and just got a ribcor 6 same p90tm let you know how it is ,but people are buying from what you ,reviews It’s what we need for impartial advice for all us dusters ,but it starts getting expensive but have you thought about using hockey stick man🤔look on website not just sticks but I could save you some dollars keep doing what you doing it’s fantastic ,just waiting for my T-shirt 😝👍
@@douglasruddick9656 yah I hear you does get expensive that’s why I try and explain the stick as best I can from how it plays not “technology” so people can be like that sounds like how I like my stick to be. Glad you like the Ft4 it really is one of the best for some time in recent releases. Let me know how the trigger is working on a video for that right now, comparison one. Appreciate the support. I have both sticks on midrange models. I like the P90TM blade for control but the lie, bigger blade, makes it feel heavier. P28 is wicked for snapshots imo
I find I like the blade shape of the P90T-type curves much more because the toe isn't so shaved down in comparison to the p28 - makes it much more playable to me. Even still, I didn't love using the p90t because I found it to feel more angled near the toe (didn't provide much of a functional benefit when shooting off the toe, which I can do fine with the P29). It threw my release off, so I stick with the P29 or P92 in other brands. My favourite toe curve I've used is probably the Laine Pro, and I'd use it regularly if the lie was lower (it's 6.5)
And if it works for you that’s wicked it’s what matters. Sometimes I find it’s also a mental thing what you’re used too. P14 for me was my fav all time and I feel I can’t shoot mentally as well with p28.
Yep, I’m more of a real world game situation tester. How things perform in real situations and couldn’t see much if any difference on these two, so a bit disappointed they don’t have a p30 anymore and instead such a similar curve to an already popular one. You're shooting mid-blade and not utilizing the toe curve. When you shoot off the toe the puck will rocket off the p28 with waaay less effort and it will go bar down every time. It's actually pretty challenging to stop the puck from sailing high, hence the p90tm was created to place the puck a little lower while still getting that lethal shot.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Well yeah they are very similar. But you have to shoot correctly to understand the problem people have with the p28 and how the p90tm solves it. I see the snapshots in your newer "choosing flex" video are much better. I don't know what curve you use now but if you get a chance to compare again, you may be surprised you like one much better than the other
Yet they really don’t in real life ;) the p90 plays exactly the same has no change in real world play, which is what my reviews are about. Honest interpretation on what actually is going on. Stick have technology specs as well, which doesn’t mean it plays as intended real world. But again my opinion appreciate the feedback
