I have to say that I love the Sig firearm community, it’s always been welcoming and educational. I do this now as a way to pay it back for everything they’ve taught me and being mentioned with Sig Guy in the same sentence is quite the honor. Thanks! There’s definitely more coming too…I’m working on so many other ideas now, I’ve even got some news I so badly want to share (but can’t just yet) that will open this channel up more than I thought it would when I started it two months back. I appreciate your support! Thanks again for the kind words.

This is probably the most detailed videos on the FCU. Thank you!!! As a side note, I was trying to disassemble the FCU the other day and for the life of me, I couldn’t get the trigger bar to move out of the sear housing. The problem was that I had previously replaced my trigger with the Armory Craft’s trigger. So I had to back out the pre-travel screw before the trigger bar would budge. 😅😅

Terrific video series. This video is extremely well done and detailed, however, as a certified Sig P320 armorer, it needs to be noted that the sear housing roll pin is considered a one-time use pin due to deformation when hammering it out. These should be replaced when removed.

Great in-depth presentation. It takes away some of the mystery of the Sig P320 FCU. Two questions: what happened to the Safety Lever spring? I like the skeletonized trigger. Where did you get it? Thank you!
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
Thank you. The safety lever spring was deleted when they came out with the “captured” design of the current safety lever (redundant - you can learn more about this in my video pre-versus post upgrade P320). The Skeletonized trigger is a factory trigger from Sig (sku:8900095) it’s a great trigger right out of the box, if you get a chance, try it out.

Nice job brother!! Does polishing trigger slide bar and the side of the FCU provide a smoother trigger pull?
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
Thank you! The polishing will only help if it’s contacting other (moving) metal parts, I would say there is a difference, but there is not a significant one that will change the trigger too much.

I try not to promote any brands in particular but, I can help you with this relatively soon. I am working on a video (right now) that will have me do a complete trigger profile for each trigger ever made for the P320. It’s very data driven and most likely you can find the answer to your question there. Should be out in a week or two.

Awesome video! Do you recommend lube on anything or just leave it dry?
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
I use: Remington Dry-lube, M-Pro 7 and slip2000 Extreme Weapon Grease as my main lubricants. I generally spray a bit of Remington in the FCU housing periodically, and use EWG for parts that rub together. Last, I put a drop of M-Pro at the top of the rail slots of the slide and let it drip down via gravity to lube the rails properly… come to think of it, I should probably make a video.

What are the numbers on the bottom of the FCU referring to?
@SIGMECHANICS

Those are just stamped references to which location the FCU was made. Nothing too special about them as they are more for internal reference.
@thegunstoreguy
@thegunstoreguy Год назад
While I was trying to install the FCU into a Wilson Combat Grip Mod, the Safety Lever Pivot Pin fell out. I'm not sure why that happened. I put it back in the correct hole and the pistol seems to function as it should. I have not had a chance to shoot it yet to make sure it works with live ammo. When i did put the FCU into the WC grip mod, I had extreme trouble putting the take down lever back in. It just would not go. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem.
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
Those seem to be two different issues. The pin falling out is actually a common occurrence, no big deal. You did the right thing, so long as you can see the safety rise and fall with your trigger pull you are good to go. The takedown lever not able to go in is also common, you just need to rotate while turning, sometimes a solid smack of a nylon hammer helps too. (Assuming the issue was the last few millimetres for the lever to sit flush with the grip). I hope this helps!

@SIGMECHANICS

Unfortunately I had to shelf it for a few other projects. It’s still coming though. Realistically, the benefits are mostly aesthetics. Where it may bring a tangible gain is if you polish the through holes for less friction at the pins, and possibly makes it easier to clean.

@@SIGMECHANICS I actually was installing my Grey Guns competition trigger kit so as you can imagine the anxiety was high with it also being the first time disassembling the FCU but I had the parts and figured I might as well throw em in. Everything went really well except for the trigger install. I had to install the trigger spring after the trigger was attached to the trigger bar because the connection point wouldent align. I just need to remember to take the bottom spring off first when i disassemble it next but other than that I should be ok. Really can't say I notice much of a difference with the competition trigger kit installed though... maybe I'm just a too wet behind the ears but for $200 bucks I was hoping the pre travel would be cleaned up atleast a little bit.
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
Pre-travel is not really a mechanical goal with the GG kit. Since the only tuning you can do is post travel. However, if you watch my video on my DIY competition trigger job, you can buy a trigger bar, modify it a little and remove (up to), all your pre-travel.

Did everything step by step in this video for my stripped FCU p320 in .45acp. The only issue I keep getting after purchasing two trigger springs is the trigger system with the kit my lower parts kit came with. Whenever I press the trigger to dry fire, hold down the trigger, rack the slide back and forth and let go of the trigger, the trigger will not reset. I can use my finger to push the trigger out and it’ll disengage again but other than that it just doesn’t reset. Not sure if it’s the trigger bar or if I really just have two bad springs (one came with the parts kit, the other one I actually just bought recently and still have the issue). Any help would be awesome to know why my trigger can’t reset while holding it down l, racking the slide, and releasing the trigger after the slide rack.
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
The number one cause is an incorrectly installed trigger that’s causing the outer frame of the trigger (the part with the pin on it that connects with trigger bar) to rub against the grip. Usually caused by the trigger shoe not being pushed all the way through the FCU. I would disassemble and try again.

In the Apes trigger bar you indicated that the Apex bar will work for both manual and non safety weapons. i want to add and external safety to my 320 and wanted to verify it will work. I have a Wilson grip module. Can the external safety be installed on the Wilson grip.
@SIGMECHANICS
@SIGMECHANICS Год назад
Thank you! To answer your question, yes, although it’s not shown in the video, others have done the conversion. However it usually requires a degree of steady hand work as the jig may only get you most of the way to completion on the grip module. The FCU jig works on all P320 FCUs.

Yeah, now that I saw the picture, 100% it’s the older safety lever spring. If they kept it after the upgrade, it’s because they kept the old safety lever that has a little notch to receive it (not sure why). You can easily take care of that by buying the updated safety lever. I would put it back in there though, even though I’ve done it myself… since it’s safety related don’t play with it.
