I have been shooting handguns for 60 years...have 5 22LRs... and many other semi auto pistols... the very fact that there is this much commotion over the P322s magazine clearly indicates a problem with the magazine. I purchased a Sig P322 recently and no matter how careful you are when loading the mag, problems often arise. Sig needs to take this seriously and address the issue... I can honestly say that I have never had any firearm with a magazine that looks, feels, and seems this flimsy. Im my opinion the magazine needs to be redesigned and made more structurally and operationally sound.
Per @kevinevans2578These magazines need redesigned. This is exactly the same conclusion I came to, and I'll go one step further to say these magazines should be on recall and resolved. I believe the shoe pushing the bullets up is a very poor fit with bad tolerances, even the way it seats the first bullet is wrong. The gun itself is very nice, runs flawless, and the experience is very frustrating. Still waiting on a good day at the range.
SIG SAUER has completely ignored everyone and have done NOTHING in redesigning a magazine that will work for us. If it was made of metal, it would fix the issue. This video is a complete slap in the face. "you arent loading it right" I challenge YOU, Phil Strader, to load my p322 magazines, and fire them from my p322 and have no failure to feed issues!
Maybe you should switch to a sling shot. This is 22lr, not 9mm. Rims should overlap in correct order, and nothing can be done if the user does not understand it.
This is the same issue that can occur in a Ruger mk IV 10 rd mag if the spring is compressed and round just dropped in. It also can occur in a S&W M&P 15-22 25 rd mag. It is a self correcting issue and a person typically only loads incorrectly once. These three rimfire magazines are fantastically designed and will function flawlessly once user does their part:)
I couldn’t have had the patience to make this video. I would have had an attitude the whole time like, “🙄 what did you think was going to happen if you let the rims of the cases stack behind the round below it?? It’s simple mechanics”
It was about 5 videos from gun tubers before someone read the directions and said "its okay to dry fire". It was at least 10 videos before one said "oh hey there's this magazine assist tool to help with loading". I know at least a couple of videos were just sloppy loaders who had never read the directions. Basically every .22 for at least the past 50 years has required you to do the "turn upside down and jiggle" shake to get nose up.
Short and sweet…If you can’t get 20 rounds in the mag it is improperly loaded and you will be almost guaranteed a jam. The rounds have to be installed one in front of the other. Any other way will result in 18 or 19 loaded and a fail to feed. Had to figure this out myself! Thanks for the video. Hope it helps others. Been waiting 6 months now for 4- 25 round mags! I have them on order in a number of shops including Sig direct.
I just got my 322 a couple of months ago. Great little gun, and very accurate. The magazines are a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, they load easily. I also bought a couple of the 25rnd mags. At first I didn't think I'd be able to load the 20th and the 25th round in the respective mags, but they will fully load out. This is absolutely the funnest lil hole puncher I've ever owned. Y'all be careful out there.
It has the most failure to feeds of any gun I've ever shot. Secondly the barrel leads like crazy no matter what ammo I shoot. I wished I could get my money back on it.
Have one of the P322, many many FTF instances. Mags have been loaded properly, also had an alarming amount of stovepiping on a couple types of ammo. Not impressed, I think that Sig needs to field test these before selling to the public. :D The quality seems good, but having to constantly eject rounds that don't fire, etc. makes for an un-fun day at the range. The TX22 and S&W Compact 22 both have much better track records for reliability at this time. Hope Sig can resolve the issues and do right by issuing a recall on the affected units.
I have same the issue with my P322 which I purchased last year. Never had so many FTF and stove piping like I've had with this firearm almost each and every time I go to the range. Constantly have to stop and eject or remove stove piped rounds. This gun is no fun.
It took me about 500 rounds before I figured this out. One thing I have also done that’s helped reduce my failure is after I get it loaded properly, I pull up on the spring to compress the rounds a bit more and get them all in line. I noticed the magazine itself flares in thickness a bit but my failure rates seems better.
People had reliability problems with the Sig Mosquito too, but after a little work I did at home, I had that gun functioning nearly 100%. A jam was rare. I probably put 10,000 rounds through that gun before the pot metal slide started wearing out and getting loose on the frame rails. This looks like a much better gun. I'd love to get one.
Just took my new Sig 322 to the range today for the first time and put about 200 rounds of CCI Minimags through the gun and it had NO stoppages. Followed the instructions in this video and went through the 5 new mags twice loading 18 rounds in each. New mags worked without any problems. Romero zero took a little bit to adjust but it seems to be holding zero just fine. Next time I'll take some white box ammo and see if I can get same results. I could not be happier with this gun! Good job Sig.......on this one!
I had the P322 and exchanged it for a Taurus TX 22 because of failure to feed issues. I have a theory that the reason the TX can shoot cheap ammo with less FTF's is because the spring in the magazine of the TX is located at the front of the magazine, whereas in the Sig it's in the center. The TX pushes up on the tip of the bullet. I don't think it's a loading issue because I had the same issue even when loading correctly. If you can, compare the two magazines and you'll see what I mean. The sig can allow the front of the round to tip down in the magazine. it probably isn't a big issue with 9 mm rounds because they're heavier than a 22 round
Same here went to my local pawn store that sells reloading supplies, they have maybe one or two glass cases of handguns and I seen the p322 sitting there, guy said they were allotted one pistol and they been waiting since its release to show up. He just put it in the cabinet 20 min before I walked in. So guess who was the lucky one to bring it home. Thats right Me lol.. Every now and again a guy gets a break. It was $ 50 over msrp and I was able to talk him out of the tax so I guess I paid full msrp in the long run. Better than this online scalping thats going on for this handgun.
There shouldn't be no issues when loading a magazine properly anyways. Ive just put 500 rounds through my p322 this weekend and had a lot of failures to feed regardless of how well ive loaded my mags. It also had quite a few light primer strikes which is very annoying and the only ammo i was able to shoot without having any issues is the cci stingers. Everything else i put through this pistol had constant failures where as my walther p22 eats up everything ive put through it with no issues whatsoever.
If you take your time while loading there are no issues. Also, it performs better if to load 19/20 and 24/25 for the larger mag. I preload 10 mags the night before range day and it's a blast plinking 215 rounds before reloading. Highly recommend you look at the pattern of bullets while loading. 22's have always been known for issues but not this one if you just pay attention while loading.
28 March. Just got my P322 back from the factory for the second time. Loaded the magazines while watching this video. One magazine had a light hit and one failure to feed. That was about 1/3rd of the way down the magazine. Second magazine had one failure to feed, about half way down. Way better than before but not exactly earth-shattering performance. Ammo was Remington Golden bullets, brass plated hollow points.
No wonder I have not had one mag go through the gun without jams and have been only able to load 18. I was ready to send to Sig. Never any mention of this in any review. With my Rugers you pull the follower all the way down and drop them in.
I have found with double/staggered stack rimmed cartridges you really want the round to be doing some of the work - a loading assist tool like a lula loader that pushes the rounds down from the top is far more beneficial as each cartridges rim needs to sit in front of the previously loaded round. Also clean the machining oil off the mag springs - shits sticky.
I have found that tapping the back of the mag on a hard surface can reset any badly loaded rounds. The Marines are taught to tap the mags against their helmets. Got my P322 from my local dealer and love it. Put 300 rounds in it after cleaning it. The only problem I had was a failure to lock the slide open after the last round. It happened only once with each mag. After that flawless!
@@yzrippin Never was a Marine. Never said I was. I have 2 friends who taught me to tap the magazine that were Marines. No reason to be mean and nasty with childish name calling. No Marine would act that way.
Same for loading the M &P 15-22. It should be common sense. An upper cartridge rim can't be allowed to fall behind the rim of the cartridge below it or there will be feeding issues.
You are actually loading it wrong !!!!!! At 2:24 you are saying something like only pull it down enough to put the next round in but you actually pull it down and do not keep the round in the mag down enough you have to push the round on top of the round in the mag or you will get a nose up jam. I guarantee it will nose up jam !!!! Three range sessions later i saw a video where the guy just pushes every round in with out touching the assist buttons or use the loader it came with , he is correct but i have arthritis and can’t do that but I discovered that if you use the assist button only enough to start the next round and push it in then no jams . Its hard to put into words but i had no up jams today doing it my way . Your way causes jams . My opinion is that mag is a pain in the A to load . I see a gen 2 mag in Sigs future not sure if the mag spring is too strong or too weak . I had one failure today and one light primer strike out of 15 mags . I had nothing but jams doing it your way . I also see after market firing pins in the 322’ future . The stock firing pin doesn’t truly hit the rim of the cartridge. On another subject Why isn’t there a diagram or procedure to remove the firing pin to clean it anywhere on sigs web site ????????? Ir taking the lower apart ??? What will we have to send it to sig to get it cleaned its a 22 its filthy it needs to be cleaned regularly firing pin and lower Sig needs to get the information out for everyone now !!!!!
That makes sense to only pull the slide down enough for one round. I've been doing that consistently and the rounds appear to be evenly aligned as recommended. But I am still having a concerning problem that is occurring more frequently. The problem is that the last round will not chamber and instead stovepipes. Would love to know if anyone else is experiencing this and if there is a fix. I've reached out to Sig customer support this week and am waiting for a response.
My SW MP15-22 has the same issue, if the rounds are not loaded right and they are not at that right angle like shown in this video, it will have stove pipes. Now that i have found out how to properly load the rounds, having them at that right angle, now she runs like a champ. 500+ rounds so far and zero failures. If i load the mag wrong, it will fail every other shot. Now i have it mastered so every round is loaded perfect.
I'm still wondering why they used a serrated pin to hold the striker assembly in place in a plastic gun. I would think that accessing the firing pin for inspection and cleaning/lubrication should be considered a normal maintained issue. I shouldn't have to risk tearing up the gun to see what is going on.
Buy one and you'll love it. Mine has been great so far. 300 plus rounds and only two failure to fire. 40 grn Aguila. But you have to load the mags correctly. But no feeding issues whatsoever.
I have one, and even loading it properly it doesn’t run. I had 10 rounds out of 60 feed to the point of habifn to remove the magazine and ram rounds out of the chamber. Won’t run any subs, etc..
@@alexlevinson8629 My Sig p322 has been great. I did switch to the Aguila 38 gr and it has ran flawlessly with over a thousand rounds through the pistol. Also I haven't had any lead fouling issues either. I bought this pistol for the wife and it has been a great training tool for her transitioning to the 9mm and dot practice. My Serial number is in the 7000's and I feel very lucky to have got a good one. I've never been a huge Sig fan and never will be but I got a good one. Good luck to you.
This video shows it was posted 2 years ago. Purchased a P322 recently. Nothing has changed and the magazine still sucks. I had to search RU-vid it was that much of a concerns All my other 22s I can literally load them how I want and no issues.
Never had an issue with loading mine it's pretty straight forward the rounds should be staggered... And find an ammo yours specifically likes and you're golden I'm at like 3.5k rounds through mine
its NOT Sig, this is a 22LR ammo issue. The SW MP22 AND the MP15-22 AND the SR22 have the same issue, if its not loaded properly, it will fail. The round has to be in front of the one below it and it has to be at that right angle to be pushed up into the loader. The only 22LR semi auto that does not have this issue is the P17, that one is loaded like a center fire round. That mag is like full proof and you cant mess that one up at all. The other 22LR's all have that tab to drop the follower but if you dont have that angle right, its going to stove pipe
Seems there is more of an issue with FTF with this 22 than loading magazines. I followed the directions in this video. I have had the dread click FTF with each magazine.....using Winchester Super XL ammo 22LR......will try CCI ammo next....cleaned and lubricated gun before first range visit and will do it again before next outing to the range.....hope it is a break-in issue.....
@@TADDs101 flawless....clean it after 500 rounds each time....I only use CCI ammo....have shot over 2000 rounds to date....got a good one it appears...
@@abiazis1 great to hear! I got a good one as well (manufacture date 12/13/22) no issues what so ever and a really accurate and fun shooting .22 pistol. I mounted a Holosun 407k-GR on mount (mounts directly to slide) and love the combination
@@TADDs101 I had a Romeo Zero I mounted that I got as part of my purchase for free, and it works fine, despite the bad press versus the Holosun which I have on my P365XL;)) Great guns....my first purchases of any Sig guns as I am a fan of CZ quality having a full size BD75 for home protection.....that 22 is fun on the range though;))
I'm trying to load it correctly, over and over and over. I cannot for the life of me load this correctly. I am beyond pissed off about this. I would actually just prefer a single stack magazine at this point that could maybe be a better design and eat the 10 rounds. Just make it work! It's so touchy, some are great some are not, I have the some are not. Now I'm stuck with a paper weight, I guess I'll send it in for warranty only to be told its fine. Ive had multiple people try to load my 2 mags all the same, same issue. The rounds walk over halfway down the mag.
I just ordered one online, even with the large amount of horrible reviews from trusted sources regarding the magazine issue and to a lessor extent, the barrel leading issue. I'm trusting SIG to have solved these issues in the last few months since they have been reported. To me, it sounds like SIG just simply screwed up on this magazine design. I'll be plesently surprised if I don't have these problems. If I do have these problems, I send it in for warranty. If it still fails after that, I'll be talking to a class action atty...Its clear by the posting of this video, that SIG has actual knowledge of this magazine issue, yet has not issued a recall, and is blaming the end-user for failing to load the magazine "properly"...bold move Cotton!
Oof - the open side/thumb stud style follower doesn't translate well to high cap double stack. While it may not be the only reason, it's definitely one of the reasons you don't see kel-tec doing it. just make a top loader like others use and problem solved.
Then why is it my Taurus tx22 mags you can purposely load that exact way and you will have zero issues? I think Taurus made the mags dummy proof and I’m shocked sig didn’t, 20K rounds thru the Taurus tx22 and 2 hiccups, only mildly cleaned and blown out around 10K, I bought on accident and it turned out to be the best 17 rd 22lr pistol I’ve ever bought
Used a p322 for a class a few weeks ago for the first time short notice with @ 10 sec to familiarize myself. NOT impressed and won’t buy one. I was only loading 10 rnds at a time lowering each prev round just enough to load the next as I do with my own 22 of different name and it is flawless. I was very surprised to see the mag completely disappears inside the grip with no to grab it like all my other guns. It did however drop free every time. It also failed to fire many times and students got more than enough training for this and failure to feed. Three different rounds just would not fire in this gun but fired fine in another gun. Other rounds that previously failed to fire or failed to feed did fire on second attempts. I do think some were due to students riding the slide but the same problems still happened when releasing the slide correctly. It accurate when it did fire. The range owner said it was brand new so maybe it just needs more rounds, cleaning, oiling etc but I was not impressed enough to invest in it although I was tempted to spend more time with it to determine the issues… 22s are different and we all know they have loading issues but if I had to reload perfectly in a hurry under stress I don’t think it’s dependable enough as is
@@kanehoward7050Me too, it's depressing cuz it looks like they don't intend to actually fix the issue, and their repair people are forced to do a lot of useless extra work. To many gun lover's pointing directly at the issue.
i think the jams are loading it wrong and the light strikes may be the ammo used. I have the P17 and i use cci mini mags and out of ~1200 rounds, i got 2 light strikes, took them out and put both back in the mag and they both fired on that 2nd hit.
Why doesn't the 322 come with a thread protector for the barrel adapter? Called Sigs customer service number and asked if they were available and the response i got was "No, never heard of that". The person also went on and told me to take the barrel adapter off everytime. Are you frickin kidding me?🤦♂️
0:38 BINGO! I've realized this on other .22s that I have (no P322 yet, but as soon as I win the lottery... : ) Either I pull the load assist button down just a little bit LESS than required for the next round to just "drop" in, so that the new round itself has to push down a bit on the one below, OR, on my M&P 22 full-size at least, I use a mag loader from Taylor Tactical which only presses the previous round down just far enough to START the new one in, at which point you have to raise the loader up just a bit, allowing the spring/follower to close the gap before you can push the new round fully rearward... either method PREVENTS "rim-override".
@sigsauerinc my p322 won’t cycle sub sonic (710 FPS nor 1000 FPS) ammunition when suppressed. It will cycle those rounds when not suppressed. It will also cycle super sonic suppressed and unsurpassed. What should I do?
Ruger Mark series, had this figured out decades ago, and with the plus 3 mags as well. Seems that 22 knowledge base has not been passed down very well. Wonder (satire) why?
Then answer why Sig isn’t making a proper magazine to fix this issue. Sig should not have made a magazine that is soo complicated to load. If u ever had to use this for self defense. You would be dead. Trying to load a mag perfectly every shot. Only gun I own that has this issue. Wish I never bought it
My P322 is going back to the factory for the second time on Monday, 20 March. Failure to feed after Failure to feed. The occasional stovepipe to break the monotony. First time, right after it came back, I only averaged two failures to feed per magazine. But it's back to it's normal nonfunctioning status. Has Sig heard of anti tilt followers yet?
Had this stove pipe, jam, misfire machine since it came out. Mags suck. FN 502 mags are better. Since I have both, FN is at the gun for over a year. The FN has better mags, the Sig has better sights. Clean them often and use top shelf 22 LR or its a constant malfunction.
It’s so sad you have to make this video because there are morons Pitt there that don’t know how to load a .22 magazine. And when they get it wrong they crap all over your product. I’ve had mine since launch day, not one issue. Excellent firearm.
@@VictorMarines06 I would point you to my Remington 597 30rd mags that go from single to staggered stack, but that would also be admitting to owning a Remington 597... Which just furthers your point.
Yep, same thing happens with my TX22. People try to tell me I am loading the mags wrong, no I do exactly what is shown here and it still jams about once a mag or every other mag unless I only load 10.
Well you do have to clean the grease off before you shoot it for the first time. If people read the manuel they might have a better outcome. lol Mine has been perfect.
Nothing but problems with all of my mags (six different mags). You guys need to make some metal versions. The plastic mags have way to much swell flex.
Let's be fair: this seems like a magazine design flaw more than a user failure issue. I bought 2 of these guns, I own umm more guns as well. Really no other weapon I'VE EVER USED, in my 30 years of shooting had a specific method by which to load properly, to avoid complete failure of the weapon
So I recently purchased this gun and took it to the range over the weekend. Second shot jammed. Fourth shot jammed. Ridiculous. Loaded exactly as instructed. I also took my little kel tec and never had the first jam. Paid $450 for the Sig and under $200 for the kel tec. I’ve been an sig fan for a long time but this is inexcusable. Do the right thing and recall the magazines and remake one that works. Does nothing to give you three magazines with the fun if they’re junk. Make one that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to load. Very disappointed with this gun.
I have a SIG 250-22 and it is one of the most accurate.22lr pistol I have. Sig mosquito, POS! SIG 322,,,,,WORKING BEING A POS! I’ve loaded these mag Exactly like this video shows, nothing but trouble. Tried all the CCI line of .22lr ammo and it still fails to feed right. Now having to send a weapon back is = to be trading said weapon for something that will function and then I’ll tell my friends, stay away from a SIG 322. it’s a shame when Bersa and Taurus can make a .22lr pistol that will gobble up any kind of .22lr ammo you load up in them. SIG,,,,,,,DO BETTER.
Fix the magazine. The plastic is too soft. It will swell if loaded over 15 rounds even worse if left load. The spring is too weak. If left loaded, the wax on the bullet sticks together. The spring is not strong enough to keep pushed up.
My 322 constantly jams. FTF and FTE. I have 6 magazines and have issues with all of them. It's been back to Sig 2xs and they keep telling me they cannot replicate the issue. 1st time firing 20 rounds and 2nd time firing 40 rounds. I claim Bull$hit. I know how to load magazines. Been shooting since I was able to pull a trigger and I'm 70 years old. With all the complaints I have been hearing on this thread, I feel Sig needs to do something about recalling this POS of a gun. Cannot and will not trust my life as an EDC. Not that I would use a 22 as a SD weapon, but cannot trust this weapon to function properly. Sig says to use CCI Clean 22lr, but at 15 cents a round, that is almost the same price as 9MM. A quality 22 should eat anything you feed it. Don't buy this gun. There are much better options.
I really like the pistol but these mags are a giant peice of crap. I load them just like in the video and it still jams constantly. Remake the mags in metal. I'd rather have a metal 10 round mag that actually works than fighting these pieces of crap. I'm trying to hold out of selling this in hopes you will actually listen to your customers and make a better magazine
Great firearm want to love it but honestly the magazine is a poor design no firearm should have to have a special way to load the magazine it’s too finicky but I’m sure I’ll get used to it😂
I sold my TX22 and bought one of these. I regret it. The sig jams every magazine and the TX22 would eat everything I threw at it with no malfunctions whatsoever. Now im going to sell the P322 and buy another TX22. Sucks because I have an Sig Cross, Xten, XMacro, and P320X compact and have never had any issues out of them, but this P322 has let me down.
