Proliferation (opposite of cell survival) must be limited (checked) by a mechanism right? Or else we may become 100m tall. p53 activation leads to clean death, limiting some cells from duplicating and growing too much. This is why p53 is important in proliferation and survival (not because it leads to more of these two.)
