This is a mini-guide breaking down the 3 most common strats I've seen for solving Levinstrike Summons / Scrambled Succesion in P9S.
General thoughts on each:
Krile/Mario Kart - Whole group stays together for most of the mechanic, but knowing when to go out and where to go to as a defamation is a bit tricky
Oppo - Much easier for defamations to know when and where to go, but easy for the first two defamations to forget to avoid the incoming thunder orb
JP Strat (I refuse to call it braindead) - A lot less movement overall, but this one seems like it has to 'click' with your brain, as it's very different.

The mechanic is cleanly divided into 2 tasks for all party members. So if you are doing defamations you don't have to worry about numbers (except to dodge the AoE) and if you're doing numbers you don't have to think about defamations. So concentrate on what you have to do for either task.

Lmao no, pf won't change. I did P6S with a friend a couple months ago, and there were still many groups that insisted on using 20-8-12-16 for Cachexia "because that's what the guide says", and I was trying to to 8-12-16-20 as it's way safer (for PF especially since they can't seem to not clip others in most cases). Even during initial prog (in pf) I was trying to get people to do 8-12-16-20 instead of 20 north, encountering MANY idiots insisting that 20-8 was perfectly safe, while nuking their neighbor on the next pull because they were too close. It is what it is, pf will continue to be idiots and these day1 strats will be the definitive ones until the very end of Endwalker.

I can definitely vouch for JP, the beauty of it is that you don't even need to care about if the order is cw/ccw to know when to move. So then, to know which towers 6-8-2-4 have to get to, it's simply by observing which tower spawns first near the group, then which spawns second, then which first after the group relocated, and which second after the group relocated. Note though, that 2, and especially 6 need to sprint after their towers, cause they have to get into position for their tower and fire bait respectively while the group is relocating.
@uttrik
@uttrik Год назад
I'm surprised by the number of people in here complaining about the JP strat. It's actually braindead. You don't have to think about anything other than when your out or soaking. The lack of needing to adjust to CW or CCW movement means people get it within a couple of pulls. The only time it might get tight is if firestrike 6 is slow to move to their spot. Everyone else has plenty of time to get to where they need to be.
@CycloneFox
@CycloneFox Год назад
I highly agree. For me, JP strat requires the least amount of attention when it is not my time to do either of the other mechanics. So by default I can just be between 5 and 7 for the first two rounds and between 1 and 3 for the other two rounds. In between I have to either bait the boss and soak a tower, or run to the opposite site for defamation, depending on the player-markers, but other than that the positioning is almost braindead. That strat helped me immensely clearing this phase for the first time. Before that, I just couldn't wrap my head behind where everyone needs to stand at what time.
@Narlaw1199
@Narlaw1199 Год назад
@@uttrik Yup. Also, the fact that there is very few movement lets people time to observe, and easily see mistakes to correct.

As long as defamation is on the wall, and they have plenty of time to do so. The majority of the party can be in on the inner circle. Gives more time to react gives 6 and 2 more time to get to the wall/tower and party is always away from the fire.
@CorruptedSon
@CorruptedSon Год назад
Had a couple of JP practices today and number 6 had lots of problems reaching the edge before they exploded. Its not really difficult once you learn it but the timing is much tighter than in the other ones. Had a clear soon after in another group doing Oppo strat. It doesnt look as clean but it gives you more time to get lost if you are confused.
@binghanem25

For JP strat, an easy way to remember what to do is (For towers first) just remember 6 & 8 will take the towers on the first side. once party moved to the other side it is also 6 & 8 will spread for aoe in the same order (6 first then 8 ofc) Now for AOE spread, just remember if you get 2 or 4 at start, you'll spread at the first section, once your party moved to the other side it will be 2 & 4 for towers. That how I think about it.

One thing to note about the timing of the abilities here, the def marker for the NEXT aoe actually appears when he teleports to kick the orb, not when the aoes goes off. This essentially just means that you have a bit more time to sort out the def markers than is shown here. (An example, the second def marker appears when he kicks the first orb, not when the first round of aoes pop)

Hoping this comment gets pushed higher up. It's an important detail that seems to be screwing up PF. People get their defamation assigned, freak out, and then run into the last defamation going off. There is so much time to resolve the defamation. Just take a deep breath, wait for the set of kicks/tower to resolve, and then solve your defamation (unless you're doing oppo in which case you should already be in the right place.)

Either way it's still going to be hours in pf and one person messing up will wipe the group. JP strat imo is more vulnerable to lag or poor reaction time, not to mention pugs get extra salty because they feel "it's brain-dead we should have it by now!" Every tier has pf killers like this, just keep at it. If you're struggling with JP make your own pf and set the strat as Oppo/krile, it might take a bit longer to fill but make a snack while you wait.

You can make the baits even easier with fixed positions. As soon as the mechanic starts the bait 2 goes between 1 and 7 to the back and bait 4 goes between 3 and 5 to the back. After the first two towers simply swap the baits. Ergo bait 6 swaps with bait 4 and bait 8 with bait 2. this way you have fixed positions and with the swap of the bait positions, bait 2 and 4 only have to go up 45 degrees, if the group has to change sides anyway to be at their towers.

I just spread to the side for JP when I have no number, your party should be spread at the start anyway so the fires are taken care of if they know the order for bait/tower and those who don't get one just wiggle to see who has Defamation and in which order. There's no uptime during the attack so there's just zero reason to not do that. The only cleave you should need to worry about is defam and there are lines on the ground denoting safe distance so it's hardly rocket science. Oppo on the other hand has been consistently causing wipes in my PF experience way more than JP. If one person forgets CW/CCW it's a lost run. JP doesn't have that kind of pressure unless you get bait 3 and even then it's just a matter of saving sprint and going further than the party.

While it does require a lot of awareness, it's "braindead" because you don't need to check Clockwise/Counterclockwise (you literally don't care) and your order in the Fire/Tower is the same on both sides. If you're 2, you have first fire and first tower once you switch and viceversa for all other numbers. Yeah I don't know either. You still have to determine 1-3 for Defamations and 5-7 for numbered people in the jo strategy. That automatically tells you the rotation but you don't really care about that either. You go from 1-3-5-7 as Defamations and 5-7-3-1 as numbers. Maybe I am going cw maybe I am going ccw but it doesn't matter. I think oppo is braindead.
@Drakni

with JP all you need to check is where the 5+7 orbs are as the starting place and then just remember your number if you have one; with the defamations you just react whenever you get your own -- I've noticed in the oppo groups that many people run the wrong way around the circle because they didn't check if they're moving cw/ccw which can't happen on jp; i find it way more braindead than oppo after much practice on both

The running around in a circle thing adds pretty much 0 thinking though. For example if you're 6 all you need to know is "at first stop I take tower, at 3rd stop I don't stand with party". It's fairly easy because you never have to think about *where* your tower will spawn or where you have to go out, just when. If this was a mechanic where we also had to DPS the boss then obviously a strat with less moving is way easier but you can't hit him so movement adds no difficulty to the mech. In Oppo/Krile strat you never have to think about where your tower will spawn and you don't have to remember to "uno reverse" sides in the middle. None of these strats are hard but walking alongside your party for a mech isn't difficulty.

After doing Oppo I'm baffled why NA thinks JP method is "braindead" tbh. Any time you add an extra level of thinking and having to flip flop positions is a recipe for disaster in Party Finder x'D You still have to take care of tower/fire no matter what method you use so why add confusion with extra movement. This is Elmo vs Myta all over again, it baffled me that people thought Elmo was easier lol.
@ItsSVO
@ItsSVO Год назад
JP doesn’t require you to know clockwise or anti cw though there’s no extra layer of thinking required you do the exact same movements for each set of 4 but just mirrored. it’s the best PF strat because it’s so simple regardless of your number and static.
@KawaruV
@KawaruV Год назад
@@ItsSVO the fact that you have to mirror and flip flop is in itself an extra layer of confusion that people have been struggling with, that and you still have to do towers in order and do the mechanic. I feel like I’ve been seeing more people clearing and having way less confusion on oppo.
@ItsSVO
@ItsSVO Год назад
@@KawaruV it’s not confusing though you literally just run across the room and spin your camera around and now you’re doing the exact same positions as you’ve just done. That isn’t an extra layer compared to the others that requires different spots, constant movement and different spots for mechanics each time, it’s less because everything is completely static. Every strat is good once people have learned it properly and while I personally think oppo is the best strat out of the 3, JP is the best for PF because it has less moving parts and less lines of thinking and doesn’t require 8 different people that aren’t communicating to ascertain whether the pattern is clockwise or anti clockwise, again something taken completely out of the equation with JP.

by watching this video i realized something that will trivialize figuring out which tower you have to soak and which you have to stay away from the party. so basically, this mechanic can be understood as 4 sets of chained attacks (one set consisting of a tower soak and a person staying away). if we do that we can reach the following conclusion: number 2 aways on 1 and soaks 3 number 4 aways on 2 and soaks 4 number 6 aways on 3 and soaks 1 number 8 aways on 4 and soaks on 2 As you can see, you always stay away on the set that's equal to half your number. we can also see another thing, 1 and 3 correlate with each other, and 2 and 4 correlate with each other too. Meaning that if you away on 1, you'll have to soak 3 and vice versa, the same happening to 2 and 4. If you stay away on 4, you'll have to soak the 2nd tower. so to figure out which tower you have to stay away from, you just divide your number by 2, and then find out which tower you soak by finding which number correlates with it. I haven't tried that yet on the battlefield, but i have the feeling that will spare the party from wiping on that mech way so many times
@cyphi474
@cyphi474 Год назад
JP is probably easiest in PF, since its more straigthforward. Less chance for accidents. Number 6 have to preposition(after soaking tower) forward near the inner circle edge and sprint all the way to the oposite side fast right after second ice lands, to not clip party. Thats only problem with that strat.

Like in oppo, you're doing that "exactly which second to sprint the entire map" for every single step for every single player. In JP, you're doing it half as much and often for only one player. Far less moving parts, everything is resolved roughly on a straight line, no rotations or ring-around-the-arena and knowing whether to move CW or CCW which is then inversed if orbs are.

Not necessarily. P7S JP strat was truly braindead because people only needed to learn 2 pieces of info, thier static spot and which platform the bull was on. Every other piece of info is irrelevant. JP strat requires a player to be actively paying attention to if they get defamation or not and can kill the party if not moving fast enough. Seen a few lalas wipe because they didn’t not realize they had defamation (which I know, should be pretty obvious). At least Oppo allows only the Def players to potentially die and even gove the other 3 a chance to run away.
