#Unesco neemt de #garnaalvissers te paard uit #Oostduinkerke op in de Representatieve lijst van Immaterieel Cultureel Erfgoed van de mensheid. Oostduinkerke is wereldwijd de enige kustplaats waar de garnaalvisserij te paard nog bestaat.
In vroegere tijden was deze vismethode verspreid langs de ganse Noordzee waar het zacht glooiend strand dit toeliet.

Unesco includes the shrimp fishermen on horseback from Oostduinkerke in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Oostduinkerke is the only coastal town in the world where shrimp fishing on horseback still exists.
In earlier times this fishing method was spread along the entire North Sea where the gently sloping beach allowed this.
