Here we see TfW Pacers and Sprinters on the Valley Lines around Cardiff on 27/02/2019. There were a few locations I had planned and on the day I added a few more as well.
We start off on the Rhymney Valley Line at Ystrad Mynach, where I had hoped to see some empties on their way up to Cwmbargoed but unfortunately missed the working of the day (I will try and get them another time). After getting some nice shots of the interesting set up there, I headed up to Rhymney and then back down to Hengoed to see the viaduct and a few services at the station. After lunch there, I continued back down the valley towards Caerphilly stopping at Aber along the way to get a shot of the castle. With the evening advancing, I got back down to Cardiff Queen Street in order to head up another line.
Next, we head up the Merthyr/Rhondda Line as far as Pontypridd, one of the most iconic stations of the Valleys. After filming some trains there I mademy way back down stopping at Taff's Well and Radyr along the way. The lines are expected to change in the next few years with conversion to light rail and tram trains being introduced on them.
This trip was mainly to document the Valley lines of this era and to take in some of the railway history of this area. Pacers and Sprinters are what there is down there and I am aware that there are mixed oppinions on these units.
Also note that this is only the best of my footage from the trip.
