At that time, Japan had implemented a total mobilization order, so women, from young girls to high school students and housewives, wore those mompe pants. My grandmother was an elite woman attending high school in the 1940s, but instead of attending classes, she had to participate in labor. I heard that even the spoons at home were taken by the Japanese to make bullets. Speaking in Korean was forbidden in front of teachers wearing uniforms and swords, and everyone was forced to adopt Japanese names. Such a war must never happen again.
Thank you for sharing this. My mother was born in China and lived through the war and Japanese invasions before immigrating to the US. These personal histories are so important, yet so easily forgotten.
@@LYKramer I’m glad you expressed your gratitude for my comment. My grandmother has passed away, but during her lifetime, she shared many stories with her only granddaughter. I happened to attend the same high school my grandmother went to, and during a conversation about school uniforms, I learned the story of why they had to wear those bloomers under their sailor uniforms. War is harshest on the poor, regardless of nationality. I can’t help but shed tears when I hear stories from my grandparents’ generation. Their lives were like a drama in themselves. This applies to most Japanese civilians as well. The majority of Japanese people receive little education about war crimes, so they tend to forget how terrible war truly is. War brings no good to anyone. We must continue to remember history while we are alive, as we cannot discuss the future with those who have forgotten the past. I hope such tragedies never happen again.
Very well said. Generally No country dares to speak of its own past mistakes. We got to learn from sources outside the educational system be it school or college .
I dont know how to describe it but when Rosé is singing it feels like she is telling a story... like she delivers those emotions... It feels so heavenly!!!
I really like the line between LMH and Min ha asking him “its been 14 years how did you find me sunja asks and Hansu replied her “ I’ve never lost you “..wow 😮
