Pacific Adventure is P&O Australia’s newest cruise ship, and is currently preparing to set sail on its maiden voyage.
The 109,000 gross ton ship once sailed as Golden Princess, and entered service in 2001. Having sailed with Princess for most of its career, the ship transferred to P&O Australia in 2021 and has now officially entered the Australian based fleet.
The Grand-class ship underwent an extensive refurbishment during the COVID shutdown, preparing the vessel for her new life in the South Pacific. This refit saw the redesign and reimagining of many of the public spaces, with several signature rooms created aboard.
At an event in Sydney in October 2022, P&O Australia revealed the new interiors to the world for the first time. Some of the special spaces include:
The new Lobby, which is a new idea implemented aboard Pacific Adventure. This space on Deck 5, creates a central hub for the ship and is surrounded by three dining and drinking options. These include Avalon Café, Lily’s and Charlie - bringing the lobby area up to a similar spec as found aboard sister ship Pacific Encounter.
The ship also features the Adventure Hotel - which is Pacific Adventure’s take on a shipboard pub. Similar to the Explorer Hotel and Encounter Hotel on its fleet mates, this is a relaxing space by day, and vibrant pub by night.
Like her sisters, Pacific Adventure also features a Blue Room jazz club, but the size of the Grand Class ship means there is a second raised nightclub called Altitude, found at the aft end, with sweeping views of the ocean below.
Staying high atop the ship, and the new Twin Racer waterslides are sure to excite. There are two 135m long tubes, which even have a transparent section that allows riders to take in the view, before they make a splash!
The newest member of the P&O fleet also features an Adults Only oasis, with great views of the ocean and a private bar area. Speaking of privacy, there is also a newly installed Byron Beach Club - exclusive to travellers booked in the Byron grade cabins. This space offers a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
As part of the P&O fleet, Pacific Adventure also welcomes some P&O favourites, including the Waterfront Restaurant, Dragon Lady, Angelo’s and the Pantry - P&O’s take on a buffet alternative which sees food-truck style oiutlets scattered about rather than long queues for ordinary buffet food.
And finally, the popular show Blanc de Blanc uncorked has joined the ship. This show was premiered at sea aboard Pacific Encounter earlier this year, and features a 6 member cast offering some surprising entertainment - but… you’ll have to take a cruise aboard to find out more!
Pacific Adventure set sail for her maiden voyage on 22 October, bringing the P&O fleet up to 3 ships in Australia.
