PACIFIC RIM MAELSTROM - The GUILLERMO DEL TORO SEQUEL that never was 

Pacifi Rim is one of my favorite movies ever, I was so dissapointed GDT's vision of the franchise didn't continue, and the second one ended up being a Michael Bay Transformers type of movie

honestly that sounds kind of stupid. the Precursors being future humans makes no sense and would’ve just been there for a shocking plot twist.

Something tells me Guillermo's sequel would of gotten some criticism here and there but it still would of been leagues better than uprising, very glad the black does line up with some ideas that Guillermo had for a sequel. One of them being he didn't want a sequel to feel like the first movie all over again, the black succeeded in feeling different but familiar meanwhile uprising was literally just pacific rim 1 all over again, that movie even got rid of most of the jaegers just to have 4 jaegers be the only hope humanity has, just like the first film.

1) We should get Maelstrom as a sequel reboot 2) I normally walk out of movies with rose colored lenses, but when I left Uprising I wanted to die.

If you remember, after drifting with a kaiju brain, Newt even says, that the precursors had their trial run with the dinosaurs, but the air pollution was not at an adequate level. They needed modern humanity to get the pollution to the level that would be suitable to start terraforming the planet. Also, am I the only one who's not fond of the whole time travel and Precursors being future humanity idea? Probably, Travis Beacham would've had a different idea.

Guillermo Del Toro is one of the best creative directors we have in Hollywood. He made the right decision with his career making Shape of Water than this sequel. It got him that oscar accolade in Hollywood. Universal should had waited for Guillermo Del Toro to comeback after he made Shape of Water. Universal is probably kicking there ass for not waiting for him.

I so wanted a continuation of pacific rim that lived up to the original, hell I’d even take a prequel, I feel like there is such a lacking of good Kaiju content

Would've love to see a series focusing from the start. The Breach up to what happened before the movie. All the Kaiju we've skipped, all the Jaeger we made and got destroyed. all the fights.

To be honest, we can say it is Wanda who saved the pacific rim franchise for some reasons. First, Pacific rim cost 190 million to make and get 410 million box office, which turn out to be a box flop since normally you need get at least 2.5 times or 3 times the budget to make even. Beside ,Pacific rim only make 54 million on DVD&Blue-ray and Warner Bros spent 170 million on market budget. Second, before Legendary acquired by Wanda, the sequel is already “off the table” by Universal Studios due to the reason such as Pacific rim cost so much but still turn out to be a box flop, it is too risky to invest the sequel , not to mention Legendary keeps produce movies that turn out to be a giant box flop after they start cooperate with Universal Studios. (GDT's movie : Crimson Peak also turn out to be a big box flop , there is no reason for Universal Studios helps Legendary to make a sequel which not only origin movie did sucks on box offive but also might cost more than the origin one. That's why I anm glad that we still get a sequel and animation for Pacific rim franchise,despite the sequel is not as good as the origin one. (because normally movie which did sucks on box office should get any of them.

I think Gypsy Avenger would’ve looked similar to what we got, probably bulkier, and the cockpit looking more like the aesthetic from the first movie.

Honestly, for an alien species that’s evolved so far they most likely don’t know that we even had a Stone Age. My question is why didn’t they just grab like a 20km rock bring it through a rift into space and drop it on us. That would’ve probably wiped us out.

Unless we are talking about some multiverse bs, killing your own past ancestors would rip apart the whole timeline afterwards. It literally makes no sense that they are humans from the future AND that they want to destroy and terraform the planet of the past. Complete bullshit and one of the reasons that Uprising should not be considered more than an overbudget fanfiction, made by people in suits that never cared about the franchise or genre.

Pacific rim is one of my favorite action movies ever if not my favorite. But yes, Pacific Rim two was a turd.

Del Toro isn't good, he's ok at best. He's just slightly better and more original than the other schlock directors and writers of hollywood. That's it. Most of the current original or distinct directors are just that, not great, just slightly better than the other mass produced garbage in hollywood and that's it, that's the level. Even Cameron is extremely dull probably due to old age. And Ridley Scott has always been overrated.

I wish we got guillermo's sequel instead of the so called sequel shitppost that is pacific rim uprising
