Aiden JD I wrote a reply 4 years back on a another thread where I told.l the same. I just restarted the thread when I saw more of people have replied. Have you got anything done? Do you want to partner?
You know, an X-Com: Enemy Unknown-esque game based around Pacific Rim would be really great. Like managing resources, keeping the Jaegers in running condition, building new weapons for them, but whenever a Kaiju attacks, it becomes a fighter like Injustice, using background objects as weapons (using antennas as clubs, shoving faces into buildings, etc.), each Jaeger and Kaiju has a unique ability (Gyipsy Danger's swords, Otachi's acid spray or flight, Cherno Alpha's electrified fists, etc.) and maybe even taking parts of the Kaiju and using them on the Jaegers, liking building an acid gun or the claw tail as a mace.
Rather than a 2D fighter, I would play the shit out of this game if it became a 3D fighter along the same vein as Monster Hunter or Dark Souls for the combat segments.
cremator0 I know a thing or two about game design but apart from that I'm a novice at development. However, I would literally dedicate years of my life to assisting in the creation of a game like this, and I would do it for free. I dunno how many other people are in my shoes on that one, but I've always been inspired by giant robots.
***** me too! just finished creating first level and all textures menus etc and scrolled down to see this comment (both had same idea of fighting game)
"There are things you can't fight: Acts of God. You see a hurricane, you have to get out of the way. But when you press Start, suddenly, you can fight the hurricane. You can win."
Jeager: Gypsie Danger has been selected! Pilot One Establishing neural handshake with Pilot Two! ~press and hold 'A' to sync controllers~ Pilot Synchronization successful! Pilots! Are you ready!? ~Press and hold 'Start' to Launch Mission~
Hearing this makes me feel like Pacific Rim was an actual game back then and the movie was actually an adaptation of the game and the original theme was just a remake of this
The movie if You compare it to this video kinda feels like those weird 90s Game adaptations that have no relation to the Game Except for property and characters, Kinda like the Mario movie from the 90s But more accurate!
Nope, in the middle of a boss battle your partner gets pulled out. So, you're gonna have to plug in your controller into the second controller port. Otherwise, you won't move
えいやく English translation とき は せいれき 2013 ねん The time is 2013 AD. とつぜん、たいへいよう から みち の せいめいたい <<KAIJU>> が あらわれ、つぎつぎ に とし を おそった... From this, the final battle for the future of humankind will begin....
Watching this makes me think the film's just a 21st century remake of an old megadrive game. Should've put in a few freeze shots/demo clips to make it look more authentic.
Oh man. This is so great. The Pacific Rim theme is probably my favorite piece from a movie score in existence, and hearing it arranged as an 8-bit piece...just wow. Thank you so much for doing this!!
They should make a Super Robot Wars for america. Starring: - The Jaegers from Pacific Rim - Voltron (Not Go Lion) - Godzilla - Gamera - Power Rangers eeh, i ran outta suggestions.
Let me help a bit: -Robotech and Harmony Gold have the likeness rights for Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada, so without counting failed sequels, there you have three full fledged series distributed in America. -Power Rangers would be the equivalent of the Gundam Series, regarding spin-offs and quantity of robots (and nothing else), so there would be a huge amount of mechas to choose there. VR Troopers are also a strong candidate. -Maybe you're counting with both Gareth Edward's Godzilla and Emmerich's 1998 "Zilla", though the latter should be an enemy instead. -Brad Bird's 1999 "The Iron Giant" should be there, as it qualifies in almost every regard at being a literal giant robot capable of combat. - A lot of smaller robots and mechs could play the part of "real robo", weak and relatively fast machines. ED-209 from Robocop, the Zion minigun-wielding mechs from The Matrix, the Exo-Suits from Avatar and even the Power Loader from Aliens. As for enemies, there's a huge lot to choose from: Independence Day's Aliens, the aforementioned Zilla, PR's Kaijus, Cloverfield's monster, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man... Sounds like fun.
Nicolás Virviescas Hernández You all forgot the most important one. Liberty Prime. Seriously, as an NPC? He was badass. As a Player Character? Fuckin yes.
English sub 〜♪ In the year 2013 An unknown life form "Kaiju" suddenly appeared from the Pacific Ocean and attacked cities one after another. Mankind mobilizes wisdom to stop their aggression Created the giant doll weapon "Jäger" And after a long and fierce battle, it's finally time to settle From this, the final battle for the future of humankind will begin… 〜♪
Somehow, the fact that the English is slightly broken just makes this better. It's exactly the quality that English translations for old Japanese games used to have.
This music actually works better as a game theme than it does as a movie theme. This is very well done. The last couple of minutes where it goes more freestyle are particularly awesome ... and that last punch of bass at the end sits perfectly.
I'm with everyone else who said they want this to be real game! You guys have some real talent and this short little intro is so entertaining to watch and listen to (this is probably my 20th time) that I can't fully imagine how much fun an actual full game would be! P.S. Love the way you made all the Jaegers look at 00:24!
These kinds of games still have a LOT of appeal. They could easily make a game like this. Maybe have some online Co-Op, allow you to lvl up each Jaeger individually, and maybe even put in some PVP elements. A game like this would be exceedingly fun.
There was a game on Xbox 360 Arcade...cost 20 bucks and you got to play as, like, four Jaegers and some Kaiju. The really GOOD ones that you could actually beat the game with were DLC. It did not do well, profit-wise.
I love mechs and Pacific Rim was an amazing mash up of Kaiju film with Mech fighting but the question is... What is the most powerful mech ever? I've heard of Evagelion but I'm not just how powerful it is.
Evangelions (or at least Unit 01) can attain the status of god. But if you're asking about mechs in general, I'd have to say Gurren Lagann since it was able to become a giant of spiral energy that was a few billion light years large, and I'm also assuming that counts as attaining the status of god.
Uh... well I kinda just recommended the best one to you. The only others I can recommend on experience (having watched the entire series) are Gundam 00, NGE (Evangelion), Code Geass, and Ghost in the Shell.
I really love how you managed to put the many different layers from the original theme in an actual 8-bit form. You guys are genius! (and have way too much time on your hands)
Pacific rim the game: Attack of the Kaijus Controls: A. Start ( Start the drift ) R. Normal Punch K. Heavy Punch / Elbow rocket N. Plasma Cannon L. Chain Sword P. Pause ( its obvious cuz it starts with P ) Choose from these 4 jaegers Gipsy Danger. Mark 3(Marks dont matter) Power: 10 Armor: 29 Speed: 15 Total HP (Health points): 500 Crimson Typhoon Power: 12 Armor: 18. The head is 5 cuz it can sense kaiju movement. So its very vulnerable if not protected or the head just has less armor or the armor isn't thick enough to withstand an attack or blow to the head. So a blow on this jaegers head is critical. Speed: 30 (Fastest yaeger in the original pacific rim) Total HP: 550 Cherno Alpha Power: 30 Armor: 100 Speed: 10 (very slow because its very armored) Total HP: 1000 Striker Eureka (Secret jaeger obtained when beaten everything on ??? MODE! ) Power: 40.5 Armor: 60.1 Speed: 50.6 Total HP: 1500 Difficulties Easy: Kaijus are dumb and weak Normal:They are a bit smarter, faster, stronger Hard: They are like in the movie INSANE: They can take down your HP to half with one swing. Unless your using cherno alpha or Striker Eureka. ???: You fight Scunner, Slattern and raiju every level. But they will keep getting stronger Oops sorry i forgot coyote tango Coyote Tango Power: 20 Armor: 30 Speed: 60.5 Total HP: 550 Sorry i forgot
The absolute greatness of this notwithstanding(it beats the actual theme in terms of nostalgia-inducing, and it's basically the same sounds, but in 8-bit; the attention to detail was basically ideal whoo), it crushed me to think that any game/mod with this won't be out for a while yet... BUT I CAN WAIT, PR2 IS COMING TOO, I REMAIN OPTIMISTIC
Bouzouki I'm 3 years late but I have your answer! The key with the windows icon on it, that makes the start menu come up, it's the start key, THANK ME LATER!
This is FUCKING CRAZY "I LOVE IT" it's pure genius here! Is this a working 8bit game version of the movie, and the cinematic footage, it reminds me of Mega Man art work?
This is fantastic! Good work. The movie really grows on you the more I watch it the more I think it deserves a TV show so we can see more of that world, how does mankind cope with the attacks, and of course more robots and more monsters!
Biollanteman Listen man, I gotta go get some Beanie Babies for my sister and come back to watch Ren and Stimpy, so we only have NOW to play Pacific Rim! Oh, no...we're back in the 90's...
