I am lusting for a hybrid Pacifica! My Ram c/v hasn't got windows in the back, I've put a solar panel on top with coroplast folding sides so I can stand up inside. Compressor chest refrigerator and freezer, 12 v microwave, 5 gallon Colman jugs for water with a bowl for the basin. Porta potty and pee bottle. Television, tablet on the ceiling over a 48X72 mattress on the floor, auxiliary heat and fan, a white windshield cover keeps heat from entering in the sun and keeps frost off in winter, clothes rod for hanging wardrobe and hooks and clips to hang swimsuit and towels to dry
I was getting 31 to 40 mpg for the fist 100,000 miles they told me that there was a recall and they needed to reprogram the computer just using the under dash port. My fuel mileage around town dropped to 17, that dealer ruined my van!
@@lamarrharding4776 Oh, sorry to hear about your van. But I'm worried you may have the wrong idea about the hybrid's range. The manufacturer is using mathmatical slight-of-hand to be able to say 80mpg legally. The way it really works is the car will go the first 30 miles on a full charge. Then it switches to gas, getting around 21/29mpg. So your range on a full tank and 1 full charge is around 520 miles, not 1500. It's like having a job that pays $100/hr but they only schedual you for one hour per month. Sure, you could say you make $100/hr but in the end you're still broke. In the mean time, you have no stow&go middle seats, no vacuum and no towing package. The hybid is great if you only drive 30 miles a day. Otherwise, it may be a big disappointment to you.
@@VantasticPacifica I've talked with some owners that never plug them in added to the mileage that my van was getting of 35 to 40 mpg I wrote down every. gallon of gas I've put in the van, my brother-in-law's have Prius 45 mpg average and Chevy Volt 50 to 60 mpg, My neighbor has a Pacifica hybrid and when he plugs it in, you are right about 15 to 30 mile range before the engine starts, how you drive has a lot to do with fuel mileage. The fuel embargo mandated 55 mph. Our 80 mph freeways are gas guzzling, you won't get 80 mpg at 80 mph.
I love this setup! I especially like your sink and office area. Well done. I am thinking of getting a Pacifica Plugin Hybrid one day. For now I have a Prius out-fitted for Road trips.
Great video...new sub here...I have a 2012 dodge grand caravan and wanted to do some travel and didn't want a permanent conversion...gave me some great ideas...Thx.
They are 2 gallons each and I'm still using those today! Have you seen the the new video?ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6KolJYlFnZ0.html
I bought the same car for camping, and very disappointed about he floor is slant, like you said like a movie room, not even. Your bed is built amazing. May I ask the measurement of the 2X4 legs front and back?
Before I give you the measurements of the 2x4 legs under my bed, you should know they are custom measured for exactly where I wanted to put my bed and where I wanted the legs to go in order to fit storage bins under the bed. For example, I chose to put my Dometic cooler at the foot of my bed. If I put it at the head of my bed, behind the driver seat, the measurements for my legs would be different. I highly recommend working this out for yourself. What works for me might not work for you. That said, My bed has 6 legs. The two legs at the foot are 3.5in. In the middle, they are 7in but those don't have to be perfect. They're just there or extra support. The legs at the head of the bed are 9 in. I find this gives me a level bed while maximizing head room so I can sit up in bed. If you decide to come up with your own measurements, don't forget to park your car on level ground first. I made that mistake already so you don't have to. Good luck and congratulations on the new car!
It's technically not mounted to the table. The water hose sticks up through a hole in the table and the faucet in stuck to that. I have a video coming out soon that shows this in better detail.
@@VantasticPacifica Thank you for explaining and I look forward to the video. I told my husband it was just the hose holding it down but he won’t believe me lol

thanks for the ideas. I just got a gently used 2017 Gray Pacifica specifically for work/travel. How do you cover up your front windshield and beihnd your front seats for privacy at night?
I have a curtain dangling from a rope stretched from one end to the other. it droops down in the middle and some people don't like that but I see it as a handy way to be able to pop up and look outside. I'm still invisible to the outside as long as I'm laying down. Congratulations on the new van!
No problem, but I'm afraid my answer might not help much. Those were a couple of water jugs I picked up at the grocery store (Meijer). They were both full of water when I bought them. They weren't really meant to be used the way I'm using them. I had to cut a hole in the side of one of them to use as a gray tank. But at least they were cheap and if something happened, I can always get more.
This is the van I wanted! But I ended up settling for a non S package Limited. Love the setup but it's missing one thing. Comma Ai Openpilot. Easily my favorite add-on to my Pacifica
Thank you so much for the comment. You're not wrong about the lights. On my trip last week, I learned my cars' interior lights are plenty bright but they don't stay on long enough to make a sandwich or brush my teeth. So I stuck a cheap LED closet light to the ceiling and that works great. I'm not sure if fairy lights are quite my style but I love it when other people do it. I look forward to your van tour!
Yeah, the old one was too big. I like to go from the front seat to the cabin without having to go outside. The sink was preventing this. I was somewhere in Oregon when I finally got tired of it and I moved it to the rear of the van but it was still to clunky. Now it's much smaller, sturdier and useful. I'll post a vid as soon as I learn this editing software. What kind of van do you have?
@@VantasticPacifica Looking to get a Pacifica..probably older though. I like the stow-n-go option and being able to pop up the 3rd row seat next to the bed. And yeah, putting the sink across from the bed is a better set up so you can get in the back through the front seats. Eagerly awaiting the video of the new setup.
@@kimberlyw.5712 I have a 2016 Grand Caravan. It was a lot cheaper than a Pacifica and has the same seating arrangement. I took out the 2nd row seats so that I can use the stow-n-go areas under the floor for storage. I also took out the larger 3rd row seat so that there's a large storage area aft. I use the smaller 3rd row seat to sit in when camping, same as the Pacifica in the video. I've had some great road trips in it, including one that lasted a month.
@@posteroonie I'm looking for a minivan in the $5000 range in decent shape with decent miles. I plan on making it my mobile She-Shed..lol. I'm moving back to my home state and dont want to get a place right away so I will stay with family and use this when I need some space 😉
@@kimberlyw.5712 The current sink set up should work the same in either Pacifica, Caravan or Town & Country. It utilizes the space behind the 3rd row. I'm hoping to have the new vid up Monday night if the weather is ok. If not, I'll do a short video on the sink just for you.
NIce bro! I have almost the same whip, 2014 Grand Caravan. Black on black on black. It also makes an amazing full-timer minivanner. Thanks for the video!
@@kimberlyw.5712 It's been great not relying on rest areas and truckstops to wash my hands and brush my teeth. In the winter, it's nice not having to get out of the car.
Some nice ideas for a small vehicle. May I make a suggestion? Try a practice run(s) before recording. That may help you clarify what you want to say and create better word flow.. I rarely stop waching videos like these mid way, but after the umpteenth rendition of "ah / um" I tuned out. Better flow, less repetitive ahs and ums will keep your viewers tuned in. :)
I appreciate the tip. All of this is still new to me. But I am working to get better. I’m learning tons about editing and editing software. I’m also learning about cameras and ND filters and optical zoom and why my 5 year old laptop can’t process 4k video. And I actually practice talking to a lens and I think I’m getting better. I’m sorry if the video was hard to watch because of something I was doing. But I hope you stick around so in a few months or years, you can say “Hey, I remember when this guy used to suck”.
I'd love to get a cupholder clamp thingy for my van. Can you put up the amazon link? (I'll subscribe if you do - jk! - I already subbed. Good luck with the channel)
Thank you very much! This is my first RU-vid channel and honestly, I'm getting a lot more support than expected. I feel encouraged to make more videos. I'm on a trip right now but I'll post something when I get home. And P.S. I'll put that link for that cup holder clamp thingy in the description as soon as I figure out how. :)
Actually, I did exactly that for the next trip. On short trips like two or three days, I don't need a sink. But if you plan to live in your van for weeks at a time, It's very nice to have it. I fill the tank with filtered water so I can use it to refill my water bottles.
