Part of the restore process is replacing broken parts as needed and when I went to see just how much the CD-ROM's go for on eBay I decided my CD-ROM wasn't broken enough to justify spending $100-200 on a working drive.
In this video I strip down the Panasonic CR-563-B (Matsushita) CD-ROM that is used in early to mid 90's Packard Bell computers. Because it uses a proprietary data bus it cannot connect to the IDE interface on the motherboard and instead connects to the ISA sound card made by Aztech.
