The only time the Packers actually drafted a player the fans wanted beforehand was HaHa Clinton-Dix. Everyone should've expected this. I'm not mad at beefing up the o-line. The Packers are easily the best at scouting and developing o-line talent.
I see him as a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Might be overvalued in 1st round. I am guessing he might be a guard rather than tackle. Lots of injuries happen on the OLine.
@@Packman2397 Made the playoffs 4 out of 6 years under him, making it to two NFC championships and two Divisional rounds. Hired a coach who set an NFL record for three 13 win seasons in a row. Jordan Love. Obviously all Packer fans would prefer some Super Bowl wins, but that's a pretty good track record. Count yourself lucky, you could have been born a Brown's fan.
@@wildwatashi all that aside doesn’t mean we can’t question his thought process. I don’t mind the pick it fills a need but it really grinds my gears that Detroit got Arnold when that was our biggest need. And Morgan wasn’t even the best lineman left on the board. Not saying he won’t be good we develop oline better than anyone. But Arnold was what we needed and we let him slip away
@@wildwatashi0 rings by this time wolf and TT both had rings. I say he should be on the hot seat in 2 years if he doesn’t get to the Super Bowl in the next two years.
Jordan Morgan is a versatile player, which the Packers love. Jordan Morgan can play guard and tackle. Jordan Morgan played pretty good football in college. Today, the Packers have a bunch of nice pieces they can use to move up if there’s a player they want. They know what they need. We just have to trust the process. They’ll get talent with their 2 second rounders for Linebacker and Safety. Brian Gutekunst is smart. In the next 25 best available players there are 8 defensive backs and only 1 tackle. Go Pack Go 💚💚💛💛
This is the best comment I have seen since the pick. Morgan will play LT but he can play guard as well. This just adds to our pile of OL who can play multiple positions. It's invaluable when injuries start happening during the season. It's almost impossible to find fast, strong, OL later in the draft. Other positions can be found later.
I think the Packers wanted Arnold and when that didn’t happen, they went with Jordan Morgan (who I am personally higher on than any of the other potential Packers selections). Morgan is a slight reach, but he wasn’t escaping the 1st round when other OL needy teams were still on the board (like the Cowboys)
Every time the Lions and Vikings draft a few spots ahead of Green Bay my heart jumps up into my throat. The only consolation is that the first three rounds of the draft usually have several players that can make an impact. Green Bay has proven they can often find them.
I think they might shift things up if they feel he's starter level. Throw him at tackle or guard, Tom at guard or center, eliminate the weak link of Myers
@@jerrymontoos6200 Penix is going to be 24 in a couple weeks. You going to sit him for 2-3 years and get his first start at age 26 or 27? Love was 21 when he was drafted. Penix has great talent, but the age thing is baffling if he's not thought to be an instant starter.
Age is the biggest difference. Their rookie is how old Love was going into last season. If he followed Love's path he would be 27-28 before making his first start. @jerrymontoos6200
The ESPN reaction to this pick was CLASSIC - silence, followed by the sound of people in the background furiously flipping through their 3rd Round stat sheets looking for information on this guy……😂
I was mad at first, but then I realized this guy could turn into a really good guard and if someone got hurt, he can slide up to left tackle or right tackle
He’s used to winning. His high school years were very productive. He did great in college. That kind of attitude, along with some strong physical skills, have a lot of potential.
The injuries worry me a bit but he missed very little time and came back just as strong if not stronger. Now I just pray we can get a little more help up front then focus that defensive backfield
91. Packers: Ty'Ron Hopper, LB, Missouri Grade: C+ Ultra-physical off-ball LB. Sleek, exudes athleticism and makes assertive decisions on a routine basis, particularly against the run or blitzer, where he also thrives. Best in that role or as a spy. Long way to go in coverage. Another linebacker? 98. Steelers: Payton Wilson, LB, NC State (Current Butkus Award winner) Grade: A- First-round film. Do-it-all LB. Coverage skills are awesome. Elite athlete. Ball production was there in college. Range, block-sifting skill. Blitzing. Fine tackler too.
I don't mind drafting OL but there were better players on the board and was a reach. I hope they'll try to trade up for someone like Copper Dejean next
I read that he tore his MCL and had multiple injuries in college. Sounds like bahktiari but younger. I wouldn’t mess with an injury prone offensive linemen.
After not drafting any OL in the 2023 draft, even though Bakhtiari and Jenkins had their ACL injuries, Gute dug himself a hole, and had to draft OL. We'll probably see 2 more OL prospects drafted. If the Packers drafted Kingsley Suamataia tonight, the Packers OL will be rockin'. I can imagine an OL looking like this... LT- R. Walker... LG- E. Jenkins... Center- Z. Tom... RG- K. Suamataia... RT- J. Morgan

Last year we found our quarterback, now we need to continue to protect him. I’m happy with this pick.
Me too I said it when I was grabbing food at Kwik Trip. I said to myself I'd go OL for first pick protect jordan love and give him more time plus help Jacobs
I agree with you Luke, it is potentially a really good pick. new Packers fans are just thirsty to get cool Picks like a WR, RB or TE, they know 0 about what the team needs, i don’t even think they watch the games tbh.
Totally agreed. I honestly question the dedication of these so called Packers fans. This is definitely a Packers pick al the way. Ignorant, shallow fans are upset with anything but the most mocked, highest rated player still on the board being drafted, nevermind the fact that GB has had a great-eye for T/G potential for decades.
I’m never mad and always bored with OL picks, if Morgan can get stronger I think he’ll be a killer, and could easily be the right pick, day of I would have preferred Barton, JPJ, or Dejean, though.
I know they seem like a 2nd round talent, but he wasn't going to fall to the 2nd round. The only other high-end O-Line guys were Latham, Fataunu, Barton, and Guyton. So when you have scarcity on high-end talent like that, it makes it more likely that they'll go higher compared to a situation with less scarcity.
He OWNED the worst defense in the country, USC, and a guy coming off a neck injury (he retired for a while) Latu!! Oh yeah, he also owned the San Diego State Aztecs!! That's the highlights on this guard/tackle!! He's 1000 percent an upgrade over Runyan with the 25th pick!! Anything that gives Love more time is a GREAT pick!! I pray we get Kiran Amegadjie (30 visit guy) today!!
This is a fabulous pick. Morgan is both athletic and very intelligent so it makes perfect sense. He will make a wonderful team member both on and off the field. Versatility is also a big factor. Bottom line…Ask the quarterback how he feels about this pick!
After going OL at #25, I can picture Gute going DL at #41. If it is, I think he'll be Kris Jenkins. Jordan Morgan will help the Packers offense run smoother. Jordan Morgan is very similar to Bakhtiari since both are the same size, and similar strength. Bakhtiari benched 28 x 225 lbs at his combine, and J. Morgan benched 27 x 225 lbs at his Pro Day. Had to improve the OL, and they did that. Don't be surprised if they draft another OL tonight... Kingsley Suamataia?
Well excellent pick up, in my opinion. The foundation of your team should be offensive and defensive line. This adds another athletic guy up front And we still have two seconds and a third
Nice analysis, anyway I am quite amused how the most of the reviews of this pick starts with words "We've lost Bakhtiari in offseason" because according how many games he recently played we lost him 2 years ago :D
It's funny how some of you act like you know everything. Guddy is the manager not you guys!!! Let him do his job!! If you think you can do better apply for his job! Great pick!!
He opens his hips too soon when he overreaches. Cause his arms are short. He is a swing tackle that can play guard. He needs to be able to replace Tom at R tackle but IDK. Tom not the people mover they want. He is a technician. Will be an awesome center. They wanted JC Latham but he went way early. This guy can run block. Nothing wrong with his strength. Great leverage.
This was great! They should trade up a few spots & get JPJ now too. Morgan competing outside, JPJ competing inside & making both Love & Jacobs very happy
If I remember correctly, they said the same thing about D Bak.. Arms to short to play tackle.. I think he'll earn the starting left tackle spot maybe even this year... GO PACK GO
Jordan Love will soon have a new contract at ~$50million per year. The top priority for the offense is by any reasonable measure to protect both offensive functionality and the health of Jordan Love. Jordan's job is to protect Jordan.
It's a mistake because 1. It's drafting for need instead of Best player available 2. Not matching the player value to the pick. He would have been there in round 2
I actually am inclined to disagree. While I do believe it’s a bit of a reach, look how little defense was drafted. The O-lineman were taken fast. all the backs we want are ,for the most part, still on the board
Skipping on Cooper feels like the draft when traded out of the first round and skipped on TJ Watt. Not super thrilled on this pick, no matter who good he is
I think Morgan is a good pick but he might have been a good pick at 41 (or 58) as well. Still, maybe we'll pickup DeJean or Mckinstry round 2 along with Edgerrin Cooper. The OL obviously needs depth but I'm hoping Caleb Jones might be ready to play this year.
injury and strength concerns have been evident throughout the draft process for Morgan, it's a highly questionable selection, this early. I think the Packers brass fell in love with his athleticism and ignored the rest.
@rayyoung7456 There are 14 offensive player's drafted from 1 to 14. He wouldn't of went against Byron Murphy as he is Interior. That leaves Turner,Vearse, Latu and Robinson, he didn't play against all of them. His PFF bio and grade has him struggling against the bull rush and needling to get stronger overall. Not a plug and play prospect a project.
I don’t think he was even the best lineman left on the board.. so I don’t know about this pick. Also kind of mad we let the lions of all teams steal Arnold right from under us we could have easily given up a 4th rounder to Dallas to secure him
I have concerns with his health history coming off a torn ACL, my other concern is with how are we going to stop the elite WR we are going to face in our division alone McKinny can’t do it alone
What a waste of a pick! I was really hoping for DeJean. We always find good linemen later in the draft. This guy was injured too. I can't see DeJean being there at 41. Hopefully, Kool Aid or Edgerin Cooper.
Good grief. What happened to Bak with his ACL injury was a total anomaly. Jordan Morgan had his injury end of 2022. Had successful surgery and played the entire 2023 season without issues. Give the kid a chance.
How do you spin this into something positive? His best position COULD BE guard? That's the easiest position for a rookie on the O-line to play. RG specifically. GUards can get help from both sides. UNLESS HE's The Next John Hannah... Drafting a Guard in the 1st Round is stupid. You draft LEFT Tackles (unless your scheme is is unflippable and your QB is a lefty) in the 1st Round. The 1st round pick should be for the player that you believe has the highest potential. The 2nd round is for the player YOU WANT, and believe, can play right away, and play well. You can draft capable guards on the 3rd day. Sometimes All-Pro, and sometimes HOF'ers, have been found in the late rounds at guard. Some weren't even drafted. I bet there's more guards drafted in the late rounds (5,6,7) that have developed into good players, than there have been in the 1st three rounds, since the draft's inception. If not, it's close, and there's NO ADVANTAGE to taking A GUARD with a 1st round pick. Again, it's stupid, it's anti-climactic, it's lame, and intened to psychologically !@#$ with your head. Did anyone else draft A GUARD in the first round? You won't see my comments anyways cause the FGGT A.I. has shadowbanned me from sharing the truth about yourselves and this fake-a55 football.
Versatile player that can be used at multiple positions along the line. What's wrong with that? I question drafting an injured player, but it appears he has fully recovered.
i dont mind that we went o line first but we should have went for barton who is an athletic freak at center and can also play multiple positions. morgan has a lot of downside to him and will need work, might not even be decent until a year or 2 from now. barton could have started immediately. morgan would have still been there in 2nd round. this was a reach.
Once again, the idiot Packers pick a backup player in the first round. What ever happened to first round picks being expected starters? How did this improve the Packers THIS YEAR??? I sure hope Eric Stokes and Carrington Valentine are shut down CBs this season.
