Now this is my type of video 😂 Gear gear gear! I like the hard copy and iPad idea. I’m using notes right now.

It´s funny, most of the time when we go to a trip for... 2 or 3 days, we pack the same gear that if we go to 7 o 10 days!! Great video. Enjoy your trip.

Yes, gear doesn’t change much

I’m not gonna lie I do like your technical boat videos a lot better. I don’t think anyone brings the same stuff when they travel on the water. I know some people will bring a toilet with them. 😂

This was an experiment. Always playing with new ideas.

As a former REI employee, you probably have the inside scoop on their gear, you seem a bit skeptical of the quality of their tent. Watching your video, it reminds me of how much you've influenced some of my gear purchases over the years... Sea to Summit bags, Zen Bivy bags, once I was introduced to Zen Bivy I bought their pillow and really like it (but not a sleep system, since I need a dual-purpose quilt for ground and hammock). I'm still very interested to hear what your experiences are using their sleep system though, as I have several friends that are looking at them, and I trust your feedback.

A Zen bivy sleep system review is coming in the next 3 weeks. It isn’t a “tech heavy” breakdown, it is my experience. In short, I was impressed. Video coming. I have the inside scoop on REI stuff from 2 years ago when I left the company. The tent I was skeptical of was one of my last purchases. BUT. I will put REI tents against any company. Because here is the thing, all high end tents are sewn in the same handful of factories. You are paying for designs, and having met REI tent designers they are some of the best in the business. I am skeptical of this particular tent because it is from A) not quite the bottom of their product line and B) has already gotten abused by me. Tent designers dont plan on salt and sand. And those two things are really hard on tents. This is a great idea though and it is going to become a video. Thank you.

Personally I always bring my ugly stick (foldable rod) with me. Nothing like fresh cooked fish on a kayak trip!

I’m the worlds worst fisherman. But I am great at convincing Alaska salmon fisherman to give me a fish

@@AdventureOtaku …the places I like to go to are remote so they allow for the perfect catch!

It’s a lot of stuff. And I still ended up having room in the boat.

I like the way you pack your cooking accessories......what is that folding storage item?
@AdventureOtaku
@AdventureOtaku 18 дней назад
It is unfortunately no longer made. It’s the Timbuktu tool shed. It’s for bike tools.

I love your videos and follow your channel regularly. always learning something. Please do not interpret my comment as critical in any way. The most potentially dangerous item we pack (aside from a sharp cutting tool) is MSR type naptha cooking appliances.
@AdventureOtaku
@AdventureOtaku 18 дней назад
I don’t debate that camp stoves can be dangerous. But keep in mind more people - far more, like ridiculously far more - get injured by boiling water in the back country than the stove itself. Watch my safety third video.

The mesh duffle bag you are stuffing around minutes 25-26 - does the tag say REI? Seems a bit simpler than their current "Quick Change Duffle". Is that impression correct?
@AdventureOtaku
@AdventureOtaku 11 дней назад
The tag does say REI…. I have three of them… maybe 4? Two big which you see in the video, and the others hold different kinds of workout gear. They are just Duffels with a solid bottom and then all mesh and they are PERFECT for paddle gear. So of course, REI discontinued them…. I could do a whole video on gear I love that have been discontinued by the manufacturer.

You fired up your Whisperlite inside the van? You've done it hundreds of times but almost always outside....right? I've used a Whisperlite for 30 years (more?) and know how volotile white gas is. I have cooked iinside mt tent vestibule during miserable weather. ...reluctantly. I guess my concern is viewers unfamiliar with this type of cooking appliance may see you as endorsing use inside a van or tent???
@AdventureOtaku

I was directly next to a massive open door on something that wasn’t flammable (and you can’t see it but I was about a foot and a half from a fire extinguisher) I get what your saying but there was extremely little risk. Far less than using it in a vestibule
