Packing Lego Pick-A-Brick boxes - You can save ££ $$

Lego now have boxes instead of cups at the store's Pick-A-Brick walls.
You can just pour bricks into them, but it is WELL worth stacking the bricks.
It might take you a little longer, and a few people give you odd looks, but I saved over £16, nearly the cost of the whole box!!!!

Finally a good decision that's environmentally friendly from Lego. Way better use of recyclables than the minifigure boxes.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. Also... square cardboard boxes are SO much easier to pack Lego bricks in than the old round Pick-A-Brick cups!!!! (Although, I will miss the cups, I make good use of the ones I've acquired over many years, for Lego parts storage!)

Glad I'm not the only one who's been doing this. It takes me half an hour per box but it's well worth it.

I don't think that we're alone either, I sometimes meet adults doing the same in my 2 local Lego stores. Parents with kids who are filling boxes occasionally comment on what I'm doing... and several have then decided to do the same... so the craze is spreading!!!!

You'd better find your nearest Lego store and go fill up a box with bricks then !

COOL! when I next visit the UK, let's go PAB box packing . I always take the time to max out my bricks. Also, LOVE brick-bricks! I finally got a whole box of the white ones 🤓

I'm always happy to PAB box pack with other people!! (but I normally end up giving them a card to promote this channel!!!) I've got quite a few boxes of grey and this colour masonry bricks, but I've never managed to get white ones. What are you going to build with them?
@pinobluevogel6458
@pinobluevogel6458 Месяц назад
Appreciate the video, but stacking them on the side works better than stacking them vertically. It is easy enough. You can even lock them in with a 2 studs wide plate at the very end, which makes them fit perfectly in the box all the way to the edge.
@MinifigJez
@MinifigJez Месяц назад
Have you done a comparison with how many 1x2's you can fit each way. I'd be interested to know how many more you fit in, packing them sideways.
@pinobluevogel6458
@pinobluevogel6458 Месяц назад
@@MinifigJez Sorry I haven't counted. I'm not even entirely sure it will contain a whole lot more bricks, but it is just easier and as I said, there is room for a full side of tiles to fit alongside it. I will try to fill a box that I have at home and see if it matters a lot.
@MinifigJez
@MinifigJez Месяц назад
@@pinobluevogel6458 I need as many as I could get, so wouldn't;t want to sacrifice space for some tiles, this way up the entire box was filled with the 1x2's, with just a layer of plates, to hold them all together (I didn't have to worry about if it was easier or not, as I had my daughter making columns and I was just fitting them in the box !!!!!!!)

I sure did! £76 of Lego for only £16.99 The most I've ever done is £78 in one of the old cups, you can see that here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xGCq21yaV9M.html

@@MinifigJezI'm in Australia so we use $. I haven't went to pick a brick for ages. Even the guy at the lego shop tole me to buy from bricklink.
@MinifigJez
@MinifigJez Месяц назад
@@TrainsForNSWVlogs It depends on what parts you need. Some parts are definitely MUCH cheaper on the PAB wall than they are on Bricklink. But I know Lego is a lot more expensive for you guys in Oz, so I guess it depends on how much a box costs. Also, you're always limited on what parts are available on the PAB wall. All I can do is speak from my experience, and in the tests I've done, the PAB wall has always been cheaper than Lego.com and Bricklink.

@MinifigJez
@MinifigJez Месяц назад
@@The-Real-Cabbage I personally found them easier than the cups... I actually split the plastic of a cup once, trying to jam parts in them, as the new boxes are square, I found them much easier to pack and closeup, and they still give us a sticker to hold it closed like they did with the cups. But I miss the cups, they are so useful for brick storage !!!
@johnnations5932

@@MinifigJez Yes I still have every one of my PAB cups! Useful for transparent storage. And to keep the yellow jacket on my balcony from walking around on my brunch. I just temporarily trap him under a big PAB cup with an air gap and then let him out when I'm done eating .🐝😃
@MinifigJez
@MinifigJez 17 часов назад
@@johnnations5932 Yes... I have a whole stack of cups too!!! But I've never used them to contain wasps (UK equivalent) I'm afraid the ones we have over here seem to sting indiscriminantly, whether you're bothering them or not, and me and my children have been stung too many times before, so I now have to resort to bug spray 😔

I hope there is some decent bricks when i go to Legoland soon. May stop off at another Lego shop on the way. My nearest shop is 100 miles away 😢
@MinifigJez
@MinifigJez 2 месяца назад
WOW! If you had to drive 100 miles just for a Pick-A-Brick bargain, I imagine you'd lose all your discount in the cost of petrol !!!!! Depending on where you live, you might pass a store on the way. (I'm fortunate, living on the south coast I have both Brighton and Southampton stores nearby) Last time I was at Legoland, its PAB wall was quite small, but you do get the amazing Minifigure Factory there. (If you haven't seen mining factory, you can see how it works in my video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GqBK0t68uHE.htmlsi=mVbxqyhAK21-iyL_&t=259) I hope you have a great time at LLW, and you find some good parts on their wall, and also check out the sets that you can ONLY buy at Legoland. Thanks for commenting.

@@johnw8476 I've spent MANY a happy holiday sailing on the Broads, and there's always a lack of Lego stores there !!!!!! (but I did find Lego in Roys Toys in Wroxham!) Anyway... Bluewater is one of the few southern stores I haven't been to. I've visited: - Brighton, - Southampton - Westfield Stratford - Leicester Square - Battersea Power Station And then, NOT in the south of England... - Birmingham - Sheffield - DIsneyland Paris. - Disney Springs, Orlando Have fun when you get there!
