Thanks for all your great packing videos. They are the most useful and practical. Not talking about carrying on coats etc. And also good you are covering a shoulder season. Also good to see you like the New Zealand companies icebreaker and all birds. I’m from New Zealand and agree they make fabulous travel clothing.

In Australia, merino is pushed hard for travel, camping, hiking, probably because we produce it! Vodka in a mini spray bottle controls smelly clothes.

Pack the Marvis toothpaste in your backpack with the wine!!!!! Since you're checking that bag going home, the 4oz tube won't matter! But put it in a little baggie of course, like a Ziploc or something, in case it bursts. I just realized you may already be back in the States though, haha. But I may look for Marvis whenever I get to Italy 😊

I saw your recommendation for On Gossamer underwear years ago and now have three pairs. They are excellent. They dry in about an hour (or in 2 minutes if you dry them with a blow dryer) so 3 is more than enough for a trip of any length. I bought my first 2 Icebreaker tshirts in 2008 and still use them. I've added another 3 Ts and tanks over the years, plus 3 long sleeve tops. I always buy the completely plain ones so they don't look like hiking gear and can be dressed up with a scarf to go to dinner on a cruise one night and sightseeing with sneakers the next day. With all 8 Icebreaker tops in my bag, that's 16 days before I need to wash tops. I usually throw in 2 more slightly dressier tops to round out my clothing. If it's cold I wear a tank, a T and a long sleeve, then my Marmot rain shell (with hood hidden in the collar). It's been warm enough for any place I've been, and no giant coat or puffy things required in the bag. From Icebreaker I also have the tiny footie socks (you get 2 wears before they need a wash) and I also got the thin headband. I've never bought the Icebreaker pants so I was interested to hear you liked them. I usually take a pair of new/fresh black boot cut yoga pants or knit pull on pants that can pass for dressy pants in a semi dark restaurant. I pair of cropped black sport fabric capris (no visible snaps, zip off legs, cargo type pockets etc. so they are plain enough to pass for dressier pants). I also take a stretchy black maxi skirt that works for formal night on a cruise, and the next day with a tank top and sandals it goes sightseeing. If I pull the skirt up to my armpits it becomes a strapless black dress. The final 2 bottoms change with every trip depending on the planned activities and weather. Sometimes a coloured pair of cropped pants, sometimes flowy crepe pants in a black and white stripe or polka dot. Every top goes with every bottom so my 10 tops+5 bottoms gives me 50 combinations. The maxi skirt can also be a dress, and sometimes I add a black cardigan that can be worn on its own as a top, or over all the other tops to change the look. I returned a week ago from a 3 month trip that started in London after Christmas (cold) included a 49 day cruise (Atlantic, Panama Canal, Pacific) and ended in Australia (hot) where I spent a month between Oz and NZ. I managed with just a carryon bag and was appropriately dressed for formal nights on the cruise and the 10k trek around Uluru in the Outback. Over the years I've fine tuned travel packing and am always looking for the latest new product to improve wherever I can. The On Gossamer underwear were a great addition in the past few years and I'm now looking for different running shoes that are machine washable and lighter than my current ones.

Wonderful video, as per usual. I've learned so much from your videos over the years that I keep a list of all my clothes and what they weigh. HA! And like someone else said, If you're checking your bag for wine any way, you might as well add your new toothpaste to the bag to take home.

I had quite a few pieces of Merino wool clothing, including 6 pairs of undies, and somehow got a moth infestation. EVERYTHING got eaten. Darn buggers even got one pair of my AllBirds sneakers. I’m trying to rebuild my collection and making sure everything gets thoroughly cleaned before I store them in 2 quart Ziploc bags.

Glad to see you moving to wool. I have a couple of Marino tech shirts as well as a smartwool tank and smartwool dress(with pockets) that don't wrinkle. Smartwool socks have been really nice in the past but liking Darn tough better. You can wear them 5-7 days without washing, don't smell, and they are lifetime guarantee. I believe I also have an icebreakers tank that doesn't wrinkle but it seems their clothes don't last as long. Explore other wool companies. They all have that "one really good product"

How do I pack for a month in the heat of Spain and Greece, a three week cruise to Norway and Iceland (also summer but I’ll need winter/outdoor clothes), a week in Glasgow in May and 10 days in England, including a wedding in July? I’m taking a big bag but I’ll still be rewatching all your packing videos trying to figure out how to pack for a temperature range from the 20s -80s.

Sarah, this was wonderful and the reason I was first attracted to your you tube site, and became a patreon. We just got back from your Morocco Foodie tour, and your clothes will be perfect. As it happens, I may have brought fewer clothes as outer wear, but many more underwear so I wouldn't have to wash so often. We were on the move a lot. I did bring additional heavier clothes for 5 days in cold and damp London afterwards. I would love to know whether your wardrobe would have accommodated this, because I don't think so. That meant a small suitcase pluses my backpack, as I was doing completely different activities in London. Would love your suggestions. Thanks so much.

I have watched some other videos on packing light and they have a carry on like your nap sack that goes in the overhead compartment and a pretty late bag that goes under the seat in front of them. So a I was wondering why you would check in your nap sack. You have a lot of good suggestion on clothes and woolen items, it's too bad that healthy, quality material is expensive. Thank you, looking forward to more vieos. 😊

Thanks so much for this video. We are going on a cruise that begins in Bangkok and ends in Japan and will be gone about 3 weeks in June. I’ve been to Bangkok, Cambodia and Vietnam before and know they will be drippy hot, but what about Taiwan, the Philippines and Japan. Will they be hot as well at that time? I can take a small underseat bag, a backpack, and a medium checked suitcase. I am 77 and can no longer lift a regular carry on into the bin on the airplane. I wish I had a wardrobe similar to yours. Maybe I should make some more linen pants and tops. What do you think?

Thank you. Question- I keep hearing don’t bring a backpack to Europe as it marks you as a tourist…like they won’t know…what do you carry when you are out for the day and need to add/remove laters? A tote bag, your shopping bag…? Please advise. Also, no PJ’s? Just sleep in the tanks and leggings? Thank you.
@erinlikesacornishpasty4703
@erinlikesacornishpasty4703 Год назад
I ALWAYS bring a backpack in Europe. But I also use a backpack as a purse often where I live, so it feels very normal. Sarah only says you shouldn't use a backpack as a daypack because people often forget to zip them shut after they opened them to get water or a jacket or whatever. She uses a crossbody purse because she uses something similar at home, so it's more familiar. Use whatever works for you.

I watch two other channels that suggest using either a travel iron or a travel steamer. I think you can get by with a wrinkle releaser spray for a lot of things though. But ya know, that's if you care. I don't at all, so it doesn't bother me.
