I felt like hot shit when I got Asturias down, but then I watch Paco play something and think, "My God, I didn't know something like this was even possible" His picking is bloody inhuman
This is one of the most amazing displays of pure flamenco technique you will ever see - the right hand is just incredible, one in a billion R.I.P. Paco
This is the song that hit me in the face with a brick with a note tied on it saying "Paco de Lucia was a GOD", and I believed it 100%. This is absolute brilliance, both in mechanical perfection and emotional expression. One of the greatest expressions of guitar skills in human history.
Utterly ridiculous skill, if I didn’t know better I’d say he’s got three hands, just like Oscar Peterson. I instantly want to give up playing/murdering my guitar in the presence of this awesome, impossibly handsome man. Life just isn’t fair, and Paco is perfect.
It's always referred to as being by Escudero. I have ME's performance on an old Musical Heritage Society LP and it's fantastic. The amazing thing about his version by Paco is that he's this young man who plays as a level of perfection really never heard before. And he looked like he could have played the Spanish James Bond had he wanted to. Some people get all the luck.
Paco de Lucia I will be sad all my life for the separation of your immortal music, and the guitar will remain sad for your separation. Farewell to music after you🌍
For all those frustrated guitarists out there, don't worry about it. He was a fenomino, which means you can practise 25 hours a day from birth to death and you will never get anywhere near him. Don't abandon the guitar, but just appreciate that at best you can only copy some of the things he did, and get it right on a good day BUT it won't be flamenco. He had an un-erring sense of what was and what was not flamenco, which is what enabled him to span genres and generations, and still be unique.
Actually your second sentence is completely incorrect because that's exactly what paco did. I don't think most people here were playing guitar or any instrument as young and as much as paco or most musicians from that era and before. Also in Paco's case just as with many flamenco greats they were able to and allowed to play or join in at social functions, for fun. People today kinda of.....don't do that outside of Spain. And they certainly don't have the best players of the genre at those functions like Paco and many others did.
The best flamenco guitarist alive, yes. He is one of those great guitarists that will go down in history as being the top of their time. Like Segovia was for classical guitar.
Nuno Bica Who are you to say what he plays? He can play what he likes and it will be flamenco. If you knew jazz you would see that his modern stuff is not jazz, throwing a few jazz chords in does not make something "jazz".
aretium1231 I didn't say he only played Jazz. The are some phases he played Jazz with Flamenco influences, other phases he played Flamenco with Jazz influences. Other phases he played another genres of music. He was very diversified musician. Do you at least listen to Jazz?
If all kids were like you, the planet would face brighter future. Whatever your life will bring you, you will never ever regret you spent your time learning guitar! Keep up the spirit young man!
That is as fine guitar playing as you are ever likely to hear and I dont even like flameco all that much but I do know wae inspiring brilliance when I see it. I cant get my chin off the floor after that. I love his version of aranjuez too, its incredible

Incredible, fantastic the waY HOW PACO started his work of Flamenco guitar , since very young he was predestinated to be the best Flamenco guitarrist of XX-XXi century.
In movie he own said, he started at the age of seven. Before he took the guitar in hands, he was living in music and dance traditional atmosphere. Also carefuly listen while father teaching his older brother. At the age of 9 or 10, father said, that he dont have money for pacos shool anymore, you can read, write . took out him. Now you will be more time for guitar. He started practise about ten hours every day. Sometimes he run out playing with kids while father dont see.... It was very hard for me, but god for my guitar.
@@axel15473 of course this is the argument of most of teachers and those who haven't any talent like me,for instance. You're very wrong and I can give you a hundred examples: Django Reinhardt,Paul MC cartney,Prince, Jimi Hendrix,Yngwie Malmsteen,Eddie Van Halen,Brian May,Michael Schenker,Gary Moore,Nuno Bettencourt,Mark Knopfler,Angus Young,Stevie Wonder,Tina Turner,Pavarotti,Whitney Houston and many others.I believe they even could read scores, and never studied at any school. Some of them grow in a musical ambient but most learned on their own. There are a lot of work behind,of course, but I think 80% is pure talent, they are gifted and this evidence is very difficult to accept
