To keep that tension it is important to keep the small fingers fully in contact with the shaft. If no pressure here the wrist will rotate inwards causing upper arm elbow to collapse inwards, and equally bottom hand to exert max power through remaining fingers and asymmetrically up wrist and forearm causing pain issues Using a hand exercising grip ring, particularly on on your little fingers, will improve your ability to hold the paddle securely without the need for a death grip

Good point! My worst habit is demoing on land with loose hands so I did not do a great job demonstrating that engagement!!!

Any tips on time trials, races? For example :Starts, middle and finish? Also any tips on how to sit so we do not lean towards the rudder and make the boat drag? Would appreciate pointers.

I'm short of time to subscribe and go thru everything? Please pm me if there's something you can do for me. I trial on Saturday so I've got today up till Thursday to work on things.

@@moukbu4235 Dude, it's $30 a month and well worth it. I'm an experienced OC and dragon boat paddler and I have learned so much from his paddle school. Hell, I even watch the surfski videos!

Would love to hear your thoughts or a video on the correct/differences in paddle feather angle for ski paddling. 0 v 30 v45 v 60 degree positive and negatives.

I think that will be a great one for next week! Short answer is there isn't a REAL right or wrong and it comes down to personal preferences. But outlining some of the pros and cons for different skill level paddlers may be helpful!!!

@@K2NOPS awesome. I know Oscar, Boyan and others are proponents of zero others not. Be interesting to know your thoughts on ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cOZnEPXt5ZE.html, wrist angles, strong hand in transition etc. i have tried everything from 0-65 and have settled about 45. I like the premise but would be concerned that you're adding a lot of strain to your elbows and might cause injury?

Most elbow strain is from overuse going through flexion+extension constantly under load. The elbows flaring inward is not the elbow doing work but a product of the shoulder position moving the joint. I demo having the elbow too far in is not good, but that only works when the wrist goes out of position.

Will actually stop you getting injured. Rotation, or spiral tension, increases the stability and power of almost any action. Shrugging of shoulders will destroy your shoulders when bench pressing, punching or press ups, you are disconnecting you arm from powerful torso muscles. Tension is power which will link the torso to the paddle reducing injuries. Video is 100% correct. A good read on the topic is by Pavel “The Naked Warrior”
