I chose a board that’s spacious and stable so he’s comfortable and feels safe enough to fall asleep. He was my main priority in choosing a water craft and I would say I did well by him.

What wasn't interesting in that video??? Held my attention the whole way through ❣️. BEAUTIFUL 😍. You are impressive with your independence, and bravery!!!😲. Frank's always impressive but especially the way he trusts you on the paddle board ❣️. That bear was a bit to close, was glad to hear your big girl voice, and glad to know you had bear spray. I think you should write your dry mix recipes down (plus others) could make a good recipe book/booklet to sell , I'd be interested and I'm not even vegetarian! Your dry mixes sound delicious and would be very handy!!! ❤❤❤

You really are very brave. That bear paused and thought about approaching you and Frank instead of instantly running away, and experience has taught me that means it may come back later. It's why I don't love tent camping alone, and why I always have bear spray strapped on when I'm hiking/fishing/camping. You never need it until that one time you do right? Such an amazing spot and another great video. ❤

Sh1t that bear scared me for you and Frank. Thank goodness Frank barks loudy to warn off danger and warn you. He is very protective, such a good boy. I can imagine Frank was fierce in his youth. What a stunning spot! Idyllic. I love when you discuss, whether hypothetical or not, the natural world, how an area comes to be, or how it may have come to pass. You are a scientist at heart. Wow, another outstanding video! Your gift is seeing the beauty then bringing us into your experience of a place. It's wonderful. That golden light from the setting sun illuminating the trees along the shore, ugh, so perfect. The way you explored and unraveled the history of how those trees came to grow in a straight row and how a big fallen tree could change the shoreline so much over time. I love it when I can connect with nature in that way. And Frank is such a hero. A good dog like Frank provides a wonderful bubble of security. It was so cool the way he dozed but had his nose oriented toward the breeze. Your swimsuit is cool and looks really nice on you. It makes me so happy that you two got to have these days together out on the lake.

Oh my gosh, that is a LOVELY spot!! I'm on my annual 2-week solo camping/hiking trip in the wilds of the Weatern Cascades. I wanted to give you a hearty thank you, as I tried your fire-building method, and I have had 2 wonderful fires that I didn't have to tend every few minutes. I admit, I was skeptical at first, hooked on the old kindling-small sticks-larger sticks-then logs method. But I was pleasantly surprised! Thank you Amanda!!🎉😊

That lake was so serene and peaceful. Totally a place to relax and chill out except for that one exciting moment with the bear to stir up the adrenaline. Oh and also the biting bugs but other than those two things it pretty much looked like paradise. You were prepared to deal with that bear and you dealt with it exactly how one is supposed to. You probably already know, but I’ll mention it for others, to look at the bear spray expiration to make sure it’s still viable. I just replaced mine. Also, don’t throw your expired spray in the garbage. You should contact the refuse company to find out how to properly dispose of it. For me I had to make an appointment and drop it off. It’s for the safety of their employees, especially those who may be near a can that explodes open when it gets compacted.

Great tips!! I frequently check my bear spray expiration and my fire extinguisher to make sure it’s charged. I think what people don’t realize is that’s it’s the propellant in the bear spray that causes the expiration date and you definitely want that fresh 😅

I love your treeline hypothesis! My mind works like that. The timing of the bear showing up was hilarious! What you were reading...😅. I did see that you were trembling! I would have been too! The adrenalin! Heck yeah! Frank is such an awesome bestie to have with you. He definitely has a soul like that of my Houndie. He loved watching sunsets and sunrises, waves, birds, wind blowing grass or flowers... I still miss him. With him gone I don't push myself to get back out on the road like I was. I've been to the local shelter twice to see if I would meet a new road dog but I just started bawling both times and had to leave. So, not yet. And I can't spontaneously meet and move in a new friend because I have landed in an apartment, of all places. I have guilt about becoming stranded in an apartment at the end of Houndie's life. I believe it shortened it and definitely was nothing like the quality before. I'm regaining my faith that everything has it's reason and time and mine with another dog will happen when it's right for both of us. A deer! 😂😂 And I love all of the moss shots! 👋

What a lovely overnighter - I am impressed with Frank’s balance skills on the paddle board. Just to say - you DO increase the chances of seeing bears if you camp beside water. Grizzly and black bears….so good for you for keeping the bear spray close by. Three miles back from water the chances significantly decrease. Nice job.

I loved this adventure. The bear made me a bit nervous, glad you have Frank that can smell one. That place was so awesome. I was writing a book in my head called the ADVENTURES of Frank, written from his point of view. He has had some great ones. I had him talking about losing his ability to hike. Which can happen to seniors…and his perspective of having you loving him through it all. I love that sweet doggie. Wish seniors had such kindness.

Swimming must be so enjoyable for Frank, pain free activity away from gravity. I so feel for him. By the end of day arthritis takes over making every move a struggle. But when I am with my dog out for an adventure the pain is so easy to ignore! I love your camping adventure, love seeing you both so happy! Thank you for sharing!

Didn't realize those inflatable paddle boards can handle that much weight. Looks epic. I just moved to Van isle from ontario 2 weeks ago, and am planning my first kayak camping. So nervous about bears, but seeing you so calm and confident, is helping me. Great video!

The weight a board can handle is related to the volume of air and max PSI. This is a very tuff board so it can handle a higher PSI and its bigger than most consumer boards which is why I chose it for camping. It also has carbon internal rails to help stiffen it. The more weight you put on the board the lower you ride and the more work it is.

Absolutely loved this video! The calmness and the serenity captured was definitely felt through the screen. Also I did want to say that there are always going to be those people who have to have everything fast paced and videos have to be filled with event after event to claim that its captivating enough, but just let me tell you that that doesn't mean that your content isn't exciting enough. I absolutely loved listening to you talk about different species of plants, all the nature that you were able to experience, the meals prepared and of course sweet Frank. Honestly everybody brews a different cup of tea, but just because there's is different than your cup, doesn't mean yours is less tasteful! The feeling of calm and the slow living you display with your dog is why I keep coming back because you portray that so beautifully and I yearn for that lifestyle with my own pets. So I know I'm going off on a tangent now lol but I truly felt like I needed to tell you to keep posting content that's original to you and not the wants and needs of others or trying to meet their expectations...because that's exhausting and your videos rock by themselves just you, being you! Have a happy 4th of July tidelinetoalpine! 😄

Was an excellent video. You are so adventurous to paddle out to a campsite like that. Frank is such a good watchdog. He was having a great time retrieving the stick in the water. He looks super healthy and happy, as do you.

I've never done anything so adventurous, but it's great to watch you and Frank having so much fun. You are obviously very experienced and skilled so you make it look easy. I was a bit scared for you when the bear appeared though. I would have been paddling away at high speed at that point!! All the best. X

This really makes me miss the quietness of nature -the kind of quiet that perks your ears when they hear the wind gently wrestling with a bush far from your line of sight 42:24 42:24 . I'm sure the bear would have left me with a mistake in my pants 💩 you handled yourself well. Loved this video, thanks for sharing.

Really enjoyed that calm serene adventure..so beautiful when you can get away somewhere calm and scenic..I'm sure the bear interrupted that calm for a bit..just so glad it didn't come any closer!!..love how protective Frank was of your..such an amazing companion Frank is..look forward to more adventures❤😊
