About the lifetime warranty, I had multiple contacts with Paddletek to confirm what the 'lifetime warranty' covers. Well, the lifetime warranty covers, in one word, "edgeguard." Here's direct quote from their emails as to what is and is not covered under the lifetime warranty. "Loose or damaged edging on a paddle can cause deadness, vibration, and a funny sound. This can be repaired by applying a new edge guard at no charge under the warranty. The handle break is only warrantied for 1 year. Manufacturer defects. Core damage is considered wear and tear, cracks even, the grit is also not covered." So if you are concerned about edgeguard warranty, it is lifetime.

It’s mind blowing to me that this paddle…which essentially takes way less time to assemble costs as much as it does. The pickleball moneygrab is so frustrating. These should be $125 MAX paddles.. And yet the profit margins are double that. I fully understand demand sets price, but it still seems so wildly absurd that I can go buy a high end tennis racket for the same price as a sandwich pickleball paddle made of plastic and filler pieces…

Since pros like Anna Leigh Waters and Christian Alshon use Paddletek, players should look more into these paddles; especially since the build quality seems good overall.

Hey Chris, great review, thank you! I had a chance to play a game with the TKO-CX 12.7 today and REALLY liked it. It had a great, crisp snap off the paddle face. I also felt like my drops and resets were still soft and controlled. Interestingly enough, I drilled a little bit with the TKO-C 14.3 and did not feel like it was as forgiving or responsive. So anyway, if you’ve read this far, quick question, what were the static weights of the TKO-CX paddles you used? I’d be curious if that would correlate to your others specs (swing/twist weight) compared to what John Kew and Braydon from Pickleball Effect etc got. Thanks again, cheers!

I agree. Three weeks with my TKO-CX and I love this paddle. No problems with drops and resets. Excellent power, spin and pop. No control issues and I didn't think the paddle had a small sweet spot. Also got different numbers on my paddle as Chris. At 7.7 oz, my SW was 115, and the TW was 6.79. The paddle does not feel heavy to me.

@@gibs4962 the biggest difference is that the swing weight is higher with the tko versus the alw-c. I actually took the stock grip off of the tko and added two over grips, to get my swing weight down. Added some thin lead tape at top and sides and my weight is 8.4 ounces. It feels very whippy. Power is not an issue with both. I do love the alw though just because its so much faster at the kitchen. When the ALW-C first came out I got one and since I don't play real tournaments I bought a XTP handle extension. This is an awesome paddle. I'm really curious about your thoughts on their Tempest line (even if you just talked about it in a podcast episode). I'm particularly interested in the Tempest Wave Pro-C 14.3 as a control paddle. I tend to prioritize pop, and speed, and sweet spot size over power.

Hi Chris, first of all dude truly enjoy your reviews 100%. I am just curious, Selkirk came out with a Gen 1 and you guys didnt seem like it was worth the $250 price range. So with that being said, seems like the Paddletek is also a Gen 1 but it is worth $230? I mean I get that it is way more powerful than the VC, but we talking about two American made paddles with lifetime warranty and great quality control for the carbon face so far. So just curious about your thoughts on the quality and value of both.
@PickleballStudio
@PickleballStudio Месяц назад
The problem for the Vanguard Control is that there are paddles that can do exactly what it does for half or less than half the price. There aren’t any equivalents to the new PaddleTeks that are in that price range, so I think they are more interesting. I imagine Selkirk and PaddleTek use the same exact raw carbon manufacturer in the US, so the consistency probably applies to both. Similarly, my guess is the Tempest line from PaddleTek probably isn’t a super great value, since it’s targeting that same gen 1 control paddle that the Vanguard Control goes after.

Currently, on the paddletek website it won't allow you to view the butt cap area to know what kind of cap you'll be getting.
