Today we install a Forge Motorsport hard pipe on a Paddy Hopkirk MINI Cooper S! Forge Motorsport hard pipe - www.outmotorin... Alternative install videos - • FORGE MOTORSPORT HIGH ...
Just a terminology note for future vids. You keep referring to bolts/nuts as T10 or T7. That would be a torx bolt/nut. All of the ones you mentioned are just 10mm and 7mm hex nuts.
After taking off the stock pipe, I was shocked that not a single RU-vid video on these hardpipe "upgrades" shows the fact that the stock "resonator" is literally just a hollow pipe like any of the aftermarket ones.
You are the most gentle mechanic I’ve ever seen. 😂 But I don’t blame you when you’re working on someone else’s car, especially if it’s a special edition like that one!
Nick, that was such a fun day and the installation was awesome 😊. I’m glad to relive it on your channel. The video came out perfect! Until the next install 😉
Thanks for sharing in detail this mod. Did you change the wheels, turn signals, and belt line? Just curious as yours is a little different looking. I noticed it did not have the 37 side markers.
Of course and you are correct 😊 The wheels are from my previous MINI and I love the contrast with the Chili Red paint. I installed the piano black belt line and the LCI2 black exhaust tips to match the other black accents. I installed the LCI2 side scuttles to keep the “37” ones in perfect condition.
@@RichsMINI That’s awesome, I had heard about several variations, and really like how yours has turned out. I wish we could have had the famous lights in the front but oh well right? Could you share where you bought the belt line at? I’ve searched high and low trying to find a hood one, and I’ve not been great at locating one yet.
@@benbenji Thanks 😊, I would love to have the driving lights but don’t want to drill into the crash bar. I got the belt line from Flow MINI online. www.minipartsdirect.com/oem-parts/mini-waistline-finisher-piano-bla-519059-51135a0b944 I just found another BMW parts site that has it at a big discount. www.bmwpartsworldwide.com/oem-parts/mini-waistline-finisher-piano-bla-519059-51135a0b944
Yeah, there is a little more turbo noise and in Sport mode the exhaust note is a little louder 😃 The pipe allows for smoother airflow to the turbo and I’ve noticed better gas mileage and a much smoother idle
@@TheMINIVlog I had the same question/s concerning aluminum. In Texas it is already quite hot, any warping down the road with the pipe? I know we could put some heat wrap on it. Thoughts?
@@desireebirmingham2420 I've seen others wrap it send they didn't appear to have any negative affects so if you are worried about it, I'd say go for it!
@@desireebirmingham2420I'm a newb but I would think that a better intercooler, as long as you can afford it, would be a much much more effective investment than heatwrapping the intake pipe. Heat tape won't hurt but I can't help but think that its benefit would be neglible on top of the intercooler later cooling the air way down anyway. Thoughts?
@@chrisjfox8715 I think you are correct, if the money is there. have friends that do their own work on their MINIs. They've put the tape on, even with an intercooler. Myself, I do not have the cash for an intercooler right now, upgraded to an Eventuri at the moment.
