I am 2 meters tall and playing on the right. Love working with angles and taking the risky shots. My backhand was shit when i started playing so it was natural to play forehandside. Its better now, but still the weakest aspect of my game. This video made me seriously consider to start playing more to the left...
Yeah me (1.70) I play on the left and my friend (1.88) plays on the right, cause I like power and he likes control. We're not great but we tried the "correct" way and we're better this way. This channel is great 👍 have fun, vamos!
I am playing with a lefty most of my games. It would be great if you could do a Video on tactics, build up the point and so on with a left handed and a right handen player. Thanks for good vids
Very good video, as usual. I am a leftie and I’d like to challenge the conventional wisdom that I should always play on the right when partnering a rightie. I understand the argument that this gives 2 forehands in the middle where most balls are played. But: 1. My and my partners’ service returns are always backhand (assuming a serve towards the glass and not down the middle). This seems a serious disadvantage for players with a stronger forehand than backhand. 2. I always stand in the right service box when my partner is serving. When he/she serves from the right, this means he/she has to cover a lot of court to go after a service return down the line, which the opponent can hit forehand (if a rightie), and my partner will then have to play this shot backhand. This also seems a serious disadvantage. 3. So the 2 points above apply (1) to all of our service returns and (2) 50% of our 1st shot after we serve, putting us at a disadvantage for both. A lot of points at our modest level are decided in these 1st few shots. If we swap sides, these 2 disadvantages disappear, don’t they? You might say we should develop better backhands. But until we do….? Thanks.

And it’s “ok” to make Some mistakes while playing more agressive 🙏🏻 I also play on the right sometimes and it feels like like playing with the “brake on”. Keep up the good work, promoting padel/NL the way you do💪🏻💪🏻
Vamos 4on2. I play left with a lefty partner. It's just great to have both forehands in the middle. we both cover alot of ground when the opposing team smashes in our corners. Cheers to the leuke videos 😊

Vamos 4ON2!! you're number 1 in this lessons. I'm a right player, but I find lot of difficulties in having a left partner that closes the points. Sometimes I play left to understand better and to improve, and I learn a lot also in closing some points from the right.

I play on the right for most of my matches since my primary skills are tactics and avoiding errors, not playing aggresively. One of my partners is more quick than I and another one is taller than me. Playing on the right works fine.With a third pattner I sometimes play on the left but we are looking at the best way. Neither of us is very aggresive, we both tend to make not too many mistakes. Finally I like tomplay on the left also during other times when I play since it is fun and enables me to improve other aspects of my game. I am a left hand player. The community that I play in has a good amount of left handed players so I have been learning to play on both sides. I am also 187 cm so I play fairly well on the left.
@@OtroNivelPadel agreed. Our weekly games randomize the teams so sometimes it is 2 left hands on one team. In those cases I try to give my teammate the choice of sides.
Vamos 4ON2! I usually play on the left, because I play "mixed game" a lot (so with a female partner). I'm super fast, BUT I'd like to play on the right more. Top get used to it like you suggested + I'm not the tallest of the bunch...
Vamos 4 on2 :: Hi from Bali. My game has accelerated ahead playing with a left hand partner. He is unorthodox and aggressive plus much taller than me. I am consistent but lack the ability to finish that he has. Often he stands closer to the net than me so I cover any lob over him with my forehand. ! It seems to work based on our results :) I am also playing with a stronger and taller right hander so I am happy to play on the right and play a very similar role :) It is of a real benefit to be able to play both sides. Just need to try and ramp up the aggression ( at the right times) as I am a conservative player. Love your work Sven. Come to play with us in Bali 😊
Vamos 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 i usually play on the right side, because of my height (1,68). But when I'm playing with someone who doesn't have a good smash, I go to the left. This makes me play less agressive, sometimes I found that I'm setting up for the right side 😂
Vamos 4on2! I play almost always on the right as I am short. However, with my partner I also try not playing "australian style", so that I can be on the left sometimes, and see the difference. To be honest, I fell I have some of the characteristics of a right player (short, building up the point) and some of a left player (change pattern, quite offensive, pushing, fast) so I need to better focus on my role and improve avoid mixing things up out of position. Vamos 4on2!! Great video, Sven! I'm a left player usually but started out right. it still feels a bit slimy to go over the middle line and "steal" a ball from your partner. I really need to get over that.
I love your work Sven ! I have been playing Padel for about 6 months. I have moved to a higher level and new to playing the right hand side ( normally play the left side with my favourite partner who is a leftie ). Are their any tips etc you can provide to covering the angles on this side especially when I am at the net ? Playing against players who are very good at exploiting the angles and I seem to caught more than I would like. Cheers Peter
Great video 👍👍 i always play with my wife, even against two guys, and we always change sides to try to feel confortable on both... We've been playing this way since we started 6 years ago, and it's frustrating sometimes 🤣 but we still think it's very positive to try both sides and, as you say, feel the differences to improve our game... Sven, as always great content. 1- I love you man! Please come to Egypt soon. 2- I think you mentioned it in a way in your video but the lefty needs to be super solid “mentally”.. i.e. takes more risk = more mistakes = mentally solid.. even if I am a great partner .. they can still lose confidence.. BELIEVE ME! 3- I personally believe that Lebron/Galan are revolutionizing padel tactically.. so very tough to replicate what they do.. let’s stick to Chingotto/Tello 😂😂

Great video, once again! I play both sides. Depends who I am playing with. If I am the better player I play the left side, with better players I mostly play support.
So Sven, how come Lebron is on the right while being the better player? The current number 1 couple in the world seems to defy all traditional padel ideas.
