6:46 Miss supranational India 2021 wore a similar gown like that. Also MU 2015 blue gown was like one of the previous MU contestant i don't remember

You forgot that Zuleyka Rivera by Carlos Alberto worn in Miss Universe 2006 is one of the most replicated gown in pageant history. There are many version of that gown.

Miss Medellin 2023 recently wore a similar gown to Krishnah's in the most recent edition of the Miss Colombia pageant--no doubt inspired by Rian Fernandez's.

9:26 that upper part of that dress is to me, I think the exact same that Miss Venezuela and Miss Universe 2009 wore on the MU competition but the fabric was red and the beads a different color, but the pattern the same. I don’t know if the designer is the same but I think it is

Yes, Miss Universe 2009's gown was by Gionni Straccia :) Same designer. The bold contrasting colors was a signature of his.

Zuhair is my favorite also other than Christian seriano gowns. I do find the labenese and kosovo Albanian design houses are really great.

miss universe nigeria 2022 wore a very similar gown in photoshoot to miss grand international 2022 winning gown, that was also inspired in another gown, miss universe 1968

Amanda Obdam Miss universe Thailand 2020 The blue Evening Gown was quite similar on Catriaona Gray's MU 2018 Farewell Gown

Love this episode,and all others too lol. Tamaryn Green , 1st runner up MU 2018 also wore a copy of Oxana Fedorova's Gucci gown at MU 2018 preliminary competition. Also speaking of MU 2018 have you noticed the similarities between Kiara Ortega ( top 5) evening gown with the one that a year later Venezuela's Thalia Olvinos's preliminary gown Almost identical.

Oh yes, I totally saw the Oxana inspo from SA. I felt like PR and Venezuela were different enough because Kiara's was silver beaded with stones and Thalia's gown was more of a white lace applique with stones.

also, since you mentioned bob mackie, did you know miss usa 1983 julie hayek wore his gown design during the competition? she would later rewear it for miss universe! honestly wish we would see more contestants intentionally rewearing gowns from state to nationals/international 🙏

I too wish contestants would “rewear” gowns. If a gown is gorgeous on her, it will be gorgeous whenever she wears it!

Bob Mackie also created outfits for the Carol Burnett Show including the famous "Went With the Wind" (parody of "Gone With the Wind") curtain rod gown. He also came up with Mrs. Wiggins walk because Carol Burnett's butt part of the skirt was too big. A very interesting and fabulous career he has had.

Hi Dani! Some added information. Do you know that majority of Bb. Pilipinas winners in the 90s actually wore Bob Mackie in either their international competitions or one of the events of their respective international competitions? Also, watch previous editions of Miss Grand Thailand. You will find that a lot of the contestants wore dupes of gowns that were worn by Miss Venezuelas or Philippines or even Miss Universes from previous years.

1:05 About Miss UKand/or GB. I don't mean to sound condescendingly silly but I am confused-- how come the British contestant's sash label keeps changing from either United Kingdom to Great Britain? I mean she IS British, right? Again my apologies as I am simply confused with this "minor" detail.

i'd say mexico 2019's gown was quite similar to canada 2018, just in red but a very similar beading pattern and even the skirt catriona's binibining pilipinas 2018 gown is also quite similar to a gold versace dress blake lively wore, similar gold 'cut-out' beading but cat's had more of a pageant cut with the high slit in general, i'm really not fond of companies like sherri hill and portia and scarlet's tendency to literally copy gowns-yes, as a designer you have to satisfy your client, but as a designer, you also should add your own identity instead of replicating someone else's gown and slapping a 'couture' label on it lol

Miss World Philippines 2003 wore a red dupe of a Versace gown. Miss Universe Philippines 2006 wore a dupe of an Escada (not so sure) gown.

Finally, the type of content we expect from Pageant Blogs! Thank you! Also, please can we have a discussion regarding this year's Miss Universe Nepal. Not being spiteful or disrespectful, but I don't understand the concept of being a larger sized woman as an Advocacy. The same we have seen from Anchile Thailand,2021. It just uspets me that they think being a larger sized woman is an advocacy in itself, clearly undermining the efforts put in by other contestants to appear physically fit. Like I need someone with a platform to discuss this Issue and understand it. Like God! Be oversized, I dont care! But win a pageant because of your advocacy and capability to make an impact, and not just because you show up oversized and claim all sizes are beautifully. Fucking lame! I would accept and be happy if she wins because of who she is and not because of what she looks like!

it had to be said, portia and scarlet is one of the biggest copycats in pageantry. it’s blatant, i know many queens love wearing the brand but they’ve copied many gowns almost replicas, from MUPH Baguio 2023’s gown in their newest collection, to a copy of rbonney gabriels miss texas gown for miss wisconsin usa. It’s horrible, and it’s rude to the original designers
