You need to get an education to make more or pickup a second part time job. You only make 12k to 13k a year because you don't want to put in the work to make more. I was that way too, years ago.
ClawFalcon He might have other circumstances that going to school or learning a trade can’t fix. My sister is severely disabled and only makes $12,000/year. We don’t know everybody’s circumstances.
This is so inspiring especially since I resonate personally with her story. I have $58,000 in debt (50K student, 6k car, down to 2K on credit cards), am 29 and single. My parents also filed for bankruptcy when I was in college which left me to take out loans and buy groceries on credit since I didn't want to ask them for money. They are now divorced and a huge strain on their marriage was the traumatic bankruptcy. My goal is to be debt free in three years and Elizabeth (also my first name!), thank you for showing us that you can do it as a single person!!
Good job. Stay positive and realize you can live farrr cheaper than you think you can. Most people can but don’t want to. You can save so much money by living cheap to pay off debt. Very pretty too. 29 and single. 😍
Similar story here (and happy to see a debt free scream from a fellow single gal)! I just started on the DR plan to be debt free by the time I'm 30 (3 years, too). We've got this!
@@dk-rf3rg 66k working THREE jobs. It was 40k, and that's not "a lot" anywhere. It's a perfectly livable wage here in the midwest, but it's hardly "a lot".
Club Astro Transcendental Motor why do you try to look for the negative in this whether it took her 2.5 years or 4 years. As long as you have a goal to pay it off.
@@cactaceous maybe that's why she lives in Indiana, buddy. If I could afford to live in LA or San Diego I would. However, I'd rather retire early than work 40 hours/week until I'm 70 to live 10 years with a decrepit body. And maybe this is her thought too
@@motherhoodsbeauty9279 I think Joydee means that it's more relatable than most of the content on here. You're right, there's nothing wrong with living with your parents to pay off debt, but not everyone has that luxury or wants to.
MommyReporter I agree but I hate how she worships him. also, Im just learning this but what if she had just paid the minimum and saved the rest in a Roth IRA. couldn't she just pay the debt with the interest
@@phannypack3951 there is nothing wrong with paying down your debt at the pace you choose. It is your debt, you do what you want with it. By paying it down quickly, you can change your mindset on interest. Instead of the interest on your debts being a bane of your existence, it becomes a dear friend for your assets in the market. Again, do what you want with your debt. But once you realize how much money you can make after paying it off, it becomes a huge motivator to get rid of it quickly
I’m only $12k in debt and have been for over three years, because I’ve been lazy but this is so inspiring I know I can pay off my debt in a year for just working a little bit more
Really if you believe hard work verses hitting goals will negatively effect your health you are entirely wrong you may get tired, but it is a good tired because you rule your destiny. I have worked in the pizza delivery restaurant arena for 32 years on and off, I do other things, but now I do it just because it is something I know. I have hit all of my goals that I set 32 years ago and it is more than enough for me to really enjoy life. All it is doing now is growing my wealth so that I can give more which is my nature.
I probably would not sleep on a leaky air mattress for very long, However, pizza delivery is not a hard job and pays well if you work as she is saying an additional 28 hours a week it is not going to kill you or harm your health as have done this off and on for 32 years whenever I wanted more money to reach a goal. I do 28 hours a week right now in that field and have for the last 4 years, I work from home over 40 hours a week doing things I love so it does not feel like work. No, I do not need to anymore, but my grown kids are starting out and need to see that money comes from a honest days work. They did not live with me most of their lives and I could not do what I would have done when they where kids, but now I can. They have just a year or two left until they are well established and then I will work less and enjoy the fruits of my many sacrifices I made the Dave Ramsey plan rocks. It is hard, but it is worth it.
Wow out if all the debt free screams this is my favorite. She showed dedication and hard work! Not like some of the others who make a large income and had to make small sacrifices to pay off debt-not that there was anything wrong with theirs.
Dblood85 I was about to say the same thing! She has been the only one that has actually gotten my attention, I got kinda emotional at the end too! Loved it :)
Dblood85 it doesn’t matter debt is debt and it can spiral fast everyone is going through their own things, whoever can pay it off congratulations to them, much respect to everyone 🙌
These are my favorite screams...single females not making enormous incomes (like me). I can't wait to do my own debt free scream when I pay off my mortgage, and these ladies provide the inspiration.
Now THIS is complete dedication and efficiency! Not one of those rich people that call in that can obliterate their debt in under a year without sacrifice. Kudos to her!
I've heard that baby step 2 is difficult, now that I'm doing it I found it really is difficult, when I'm running out of inspiration I go and watch these debt free screams and they put me back on track, they reminded me that the end goal is to be debt free, in five to six months I should be able to clear everything.
I work 6 days a week 12 hours shift i am 24 i am from a Pakistani family moved from pakistan to canada 2.5 years ago now this lady will make me work 7 days RESPECT ✊
her debt free scream made me cry, just hearing the emotion in her voice. This has only reinforced my resolve to keep heading down my path to being debt free so that one day i can be standing there declaring myself debt free.
My Wife had $40,000credit card debt PLUS $80,000 in student debt and counting since she is doing her DNP; We sold our house paid off majority of the credit card and now planning on refinancing her student loan with better credit score and planning on paying it off in 1 year or 1.5 year thats the goal for now. We stopped all unnecessary expense like eating our movies, bar... if i can do it anyone can do it considering these are not my own personal debt.. Dont waste ur money guys pay off ur debts and then invest for retirement. then u can go to movies and bar and what not.
Hands down the best story I have heard to date on the show. Very inspiring, Elizabeth! We have a long way to go, but people like you make us seek out gazelle intensity. God bless you!
About to finish school this semester with 60k in debt and have a job lined up that pays around 40k. This is almost my exact situation and this is very inspiring.
Dave. I've never commented on any of your videos. Until now. This was the most inspiring one I've ever seen. This young lady really had a plan, went to work at it, and achieved her results!! No doubt that you have inspired her, and she has inspired many of us. Keep up the great work Dave (and Elizabeth!!!)
I found you a few days ago through a random youtube comment. Now I feel inspired by these amazing stories and the name my husband hears the most around the flat is Dave Ramsey 😊
being dept free takes a lot of stress out of your life, so you can do a little more work without getting burnt out. but your correct, working 7 day a week isnt good for you. she needs to cut back a little since shes out of dept now.
In my case it is once a month, I bought a drum of oil so it costs like $10 yes that is a lot of oil, but I do my family and friends cars too. The car I drive for that has 210k on it, mechanically it is perfect because I do almost all repairs myself. As I said on another post I hit all the goals I set for a comfortable life long ago, but I set new goals. The pizza gig will stop in the next few years once my kids get out of higher education and start their careers, Work though at this point is not for earning money it is for making the lives of people I identify with better. Later it will probably also include causes I believe worthy even though I may never meet the people that I help #Legacy
Alan Freeman I used to deliver full time. It really depends on the stores delivery range. Mine wasn't so large. Even still I easily put 50 miles some days. Oil change every 4K miles used full synthetic, did it myself. It's actually really lucrative. Some days or weeks are bad but most of the time it's good. Even if you average $30 in tips by 6 days of work that's $180 on top of your wage. During summer time I would average about $200-350 week in tips.
Our family has been on the Dave Ramsey plan since April. We paid off 13k in 5 months and will be debt free end of the year. We currently make gross income of 80k.
Not a single bit of bitching about being a woman, not a single word about being oppressed, not a single word about how “exeternal reason” a-b-and-c”. She simply ACCEPTED responsibility and got to work NO MATTER THE COST. I swear you can’t teach drive like that.
My first time watching a debt-free scream- I am shaking and crying right now. Wow...what an amazing young woman. She is so driven and passionate, I have the utmost admiration for her. (I just hope she gets herself a good mattress soon so she doesn’t end up with lifelong back problems- after all her hard work, she at least needs to treat herself to a good mattress, if only for the sake of the health of her further self.) This girl is on fire!!! She killed it!!! 🙌🏻 And as she is two years younger than me and single like myself, she has really pushed me to keep going, even when I feel like giving up. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story with us. Way to go!!!! Woohoo!!!
Dude im from indy and 3k away from paying 20k in 2 years. Living in my parents across the tracks. It sucks. I can hear it in ber voice shes proud! Congrats!
Thankyou Elizabeth (and Dave). Your story was the first Dave Ramsey content that I ever saw and you inspired me so much. 6 years ago when I saw this I was in £400k of debt. Because of you I got gazelle intense and paid the whole lot off, including funding out my retirement. Your story of your leaky airbed came back to me so many times during my 6 years and I've often wondered how to find this episode. I have finally hit all my financial goals 1 week ago and by 'coincidence' your debt free scream came back on my youtube home page. Amazing. Thankyou. Along my journey, I got my bagpipes out of the loft where they'd been for 20 year, I cobbled together an outfit for my first gig, used that money to buy a better kilt etc and cashflowed the business. I also learnt the harp and wrote a book and created online courses. Along that debt journey I found my passion (playing bagpipes and harp at weddings and funerals) and turned it into a self-sustaining profitable business. Thank you Dave. Thankyou Elizabeth.
Phenomenal!! I'm currently doing the same thing. Giving up any kind of social life, but I will be grateful in a couple years. Dave Ramsey has changed my World.
My dad use to say "You have to sacrifice to be nice" so pretty much we have to give up something to move up. I'm about to make that jump to living frugally so I can pay off the rest of my student loans. I've already paid off about 20k but I'm ready to just be debt free.
I just stumbled upon this again, Elizabeth if you're reading this, thank you! This is the first debt-free scream I watched and the one that got me inspired to do the same.
HerGloryInc - you should Google how the Japanese sleep. The smartest people and healthiest sleep on flat and hard surfaces....BEST for your back!! I got rid of my thick heavy mattress and sleep on a thin futon mattress, best I've EVER felt!
Elizabeth - you are my inspiration!! Your numbers are close to ours and I listen to your debt free scream regularly for encouragement! Congrats & thank you!
Don Guello I feel ya. I’m at native San Diegan and our rents are comparable to you guys in LA, I would imagine. ($1,500-$2,000/month for poorly maintained apts in the bad parts of town). I sometimes read comments on here with people flipping out over a $1,200/month mortgage being too high, whereas I’m flabbergasted that they can get anything for so cheap, when even a low-end studio apartment is costs more than that each month. I’m sure you can relate. I know your comment was posted 9months ago, but I just wanted you to know that someone here could relate to your struggle of trying to get ahead and battling the constant feeling of drowning in rent. I’m curious to know how your journey is going and how you stay motivated when feeling like almost all of your income is going to rent? Hope all is well for you :)
I've been watching Dave Ramsey videos from my little rental appartment in Belgium for a couple of months. Single mom, working three jobs, and really working on a debt free future me for four months now. On my third snowball by now, two to go after this one. I still have around 12,000 euros of debt, and I promised myself to be debt free by November 2019. I can't wait to be able to tell my son we are debt free and ready to take on the future. Thank you Dave, Belgium loves you!

So exciting to hear this young lady accomplish such an amazing goal. So much would be different it I would have been debt free before turning 30! Congratulations.
The struggle is real! Brought tears to my eyes! Way to go Elizabeth! I am from Indiana too! This has given me more drive and determination to getter done.
