Very nicely explained with great knowledge, lowering the usual anxiety that comes along with such a surgery! Thank you.

Better yet, don't have surgery. Choose radiation or brachytherapy instead.

Definitely choose the radiation so you can damage other organs and then wonder if the cancer is coming back. You don't know what you're talking about. I went home the next day. I'm doing fine. She explained things exactly how things went.

@jimmyReesby glad to hear you are doing well. This is a highly personal choice and everyone's experience is different.

I live in the UK so different here I guess, I am 62 and had my prostate removed, I was kept in for 3 full days post surgery, saw a physio twice, drain removed, trained in catheter (super pubic) hygiene, pain management through medication, 28 day course of blood thinners how to administer them, the choice to head home was a mutual decision between surgeon, nursing staff and myself.

A few thoughts: I’m 4 days post and still having the shoulder pain. My drain had to be emptied about 6 times over 2 days before they pulled it. All blood. I can’t imagine all that blood still in me. I’m glad they used the drain and I opted to stay another night inpatient until they could pull it. The idea of going home with a drain after one night and all that internal bleeding seemed sketchy.

This is all b s. How they can send a human being home after a surgery like that is beyond me. It’s barbaric. All these doctors care about is what the insurance company says. You shouldn’t be in your 70s or 80s after a surgery like that and sent home after 1 day in the hospital. It’s nonsense. They could care less. About your pain or care. They wanna get paid

I was 74 and went home the next day without any issues, can’t imagine why another day is necessary unless problems are present. My surgeon deserved every penny h earned and more!!
