@@sandydog7449 they notice, but just don’t care. Someone commented in another video that the donkeys price at market is based on their weight, which includes their hoofs. Lousy system and lousy owners! The farrier changes their lives! 😀

They raise them for food and the people trimming their hooves, do it for the video/ likes 👍

@@olchat2012 it’s been mentioned several times that they are also working animals. Why would the farmers pay for hoof trimmings otherwise?

@@crazycatlady6396 But most of the donkeys haven`t been able to walk/work properly (without pain) a long time (months) before this trimming.

I have been keeping ponies for many years. As I was interested in hoof care I bought an education manual edited for farrier-apprentices. Some few pictures are there of deformed or neglected hooves, but you can`t compare them to the RU-vid-ones of the Far-East.

Clearly you haven't been to China. The cruelty here is nothing. You can expect no more. The regard for human life is nothing, so an animal is worthless

It's China (I can tell the difference in the written language, Chinese always looks more complicated) and there are a lot of poor areas in China. If you can't do this yourself it costs money to have someone do it for you and, well, there's a vicious cycle to that if you're a farmer who has a bad season.

People do not care about animals. It is only a tool. There is no need to look after it.

He’s skilled to be able to hack and chop with garden tools and actually accomplish something useful. Please buy some real farrier tools!

As a horse owner myself, I was fascinated with the vastly different tools and how the farrier used them with skill.

These donkeys in the videos are just used for their skins to make ejio or meat. In one of the videos, the hooves were appallingly long & the owner said the weight of the hooves added to the weight of the animal, therefore more money! It makes me so cross that they only know a slap, whip or angry voices, then they wonder why they won't stand still! Only good result is that they get some relief in their miserable lives.

@@MaggiePiffles they know exactly what a coffin bone is and where it is and etc, that's why they are taking care of these neglected donkeys hooves. Farriers in other countries often don't have access to modern tools and they do any amazing and fantastic job on the animals with the tools they have. They are nowhere near the coffin bone in any of these cases. Most of that length of hoof is heel, not toe.... Take a close look while they show the bottom of the hoof...

Plus the fact the reason this donkey is combative is because he's probably never had his hooves done. Not because he's in pain from the trim or the method of trimming.

They are slapping the poor creature for not being still. They are saying the animal likes to kick people. Disgusting attitudes! At least they are helping its feet. Now they need to work on properly training the animal for easy handling, especially its feet.

@@virginiamoss7045 training the animal is not the job of the one doing the hoof trimming. That is the job of the owner of the animal. Donkeys are notorious for being stubborn and hard to deal with. That is the reason why the term jackass is considered to be an insult.

@@harpintn By "they" (the last sentence) I meant the owner or whomever is the animal's caretaker. Obviously, that's who is responsible for the training. And every farrier should refuse to work with an untrained animal and still charge fully for their time and effort, even if no hoof gets worked on.

Sorry, without their help the donkey is suffering badly. Yes, they may have had to get a little rough. but I suspect that this donkey hasn't had any handling in years. His feet hurt and he cannot understand that the farrier and the others are trying to help, not hurt.

They are not being cruel. They need the donkey to hold still so that they DON'T hurt him. One bad cut from the tools that they are using could cause even more suffering. I'm suspecting from the title that this particular donkey hasn't been interacting with humans for a long time. Thus he isn't used to being held to have his feet done. Equines are prey animals that use running away to stay safe. They cannot run if they have one foot being held up, so their natural instinct is to try to get away. How is he to know that the farrier is trying to help him and not harm him? I've witnessed tame horses fighting to get their feet back during trims much worse that this little guy. I'm impressed with the way he is being handled. With the way the donkey is kicking, the farrier could get severely injured. They're not hitting him although they are holding his ears to help control him. Would you be willing to get under this donkey to trim his feet knowing that you could get badly injured in the process or seriously hurting the donkey with a slip of the tools while he's trying to get away?
