Painful Transitions - Even when embracing my gay and getting a divorce is the right answer, it hurts

In this one, I talk about how I know I'm doing the right thing, but how it's also incredibly painful to get a divorce. I talk about how free I feel but how that doesn't make the pain go away.

As I mentioned in your first video. My former wife of 14 years came out at 42. We got divorced. That was seven years ago. It will all worked out. And yes she had to deal with a lot of opinions from friends and family I promise it will all be good. Stay strong. Your husband may still have a place in your life. But that’s up to him and it takes time The reason I’m watching this is to better understand what she went thru all those years ago. Very similar story

Thank you for your kind words (and sorry I'm literally 3 weeks late in responding! It's been a rough 3 weeks!) I think my husband will have a place in my life, but it's going to be a rough road ahead to figure out what that means. I also think it's incredibly kind of you to try and understand her journey. I'm going to keep making videos, so subscribe if you'd like to hear more.

I’m on the other side of this right now. I have A LOT of love for the man that I married. He is amazing. And I do not want to hurt him.. my biggest fear is that he’ll feel like I faked my love for him. Do you have any words of wisdom, or anything that your ex wife did or could’ve done to make the situation easier for you?

Ok, I didn't comment on your initial video, but feel compelled to put my voice into the mix. I was a rebel....out early in high school in the late 1960's. Loving family, all accepting....all good. Rare, but good. Two long term relationships with two great women, and then.....a late bloomer, married with 5 kids came crashing into my life. We tried really hard to be honest, ethical and respectful...seems like you are doing that too, it will pay off later. It was not easy for her. But she knew, at age 47, that after 25 yrs of marriage to a great guy, that a HUGE piece of herself had been denied for too long. We only live once, we need to be who we are or at the end is disappointment, bitterness and regret. We have been together for 31 happy years. She has 6 grandchildren and a great grandchild. Her kids and grandkids love me, and I them. So, I am here to tell you, from a pure queer perspective, the Lady Love of your dreams is out there, be open to her when she shows up. Best to you young lady, and welcome to freedom.

Thanks for posting this video.... I really needed to hear all of this today. 🙏🏼 ❤️ The part that spoke to me most was when you said that we, humans, can feel multiple emotions at the same time and that's completely okay. And that something positive can carry/contain/bring about painful emotions as well. I'm so inspired by your strength and clarity. Congratulations on living YOU, on celebrating YOU - without having to conform or minimize your inner truth for anyone or anything. 🥰🎉🌈 I'll be following your jouney...

I can feel all the things that you are expressing. It is all crystal clear. I wish you the best and I will be following and encouraging you along the way. It is a tricky situation. The same thing happened to my uncle when he came out at 49. You are both making the right decision.

Thank you for being so vulnerable for us to see, and learn from! You said that both you and your husband believes this is the right decision, so everyone else should stay out of it (wouldn't that be nice!) I am studying to be a counselor - hopefully you have some good mental health supports in your life to help along the journey. Take care!

Thanks for your bravery..for yourself and for others. It’s important. I recently came across the show Gentleman Jack and thought it was interesting a lot of the same emotions and drama lesbians have experienced 200 yrs ago are ones some of us still have to struggle with today because of culture, religion and societal norms. But the future is getting brighter though and it’s because people like you have gotten brave enough to come out and push forward.

This was so validating. I broke up with my boyfriend 3 months ago because I realized I was gay. I really feel that urge you spoke of to keep wanting to spend time with your husband and snuggle and watch a movie. Those are the moments I really miss. It can be exhausting reminding yourself that it is all for the better. Thanks for documenting your journey

Thank you for doing this, as a nonbinary person thinking about comphet is kind of interesting, because the world doesn't only want me to not love women, it wants me to be a woman as well. Everything gets super complex as I am also pansexual, but I have SO MUCH experience of dating and even being in relationships with men that I don't love for their sake, ignoring my own feelings. I am in a relationship with a man currently who still identifies as straight even though I am nonbinary and not a woman. He wants children at some point, I don't which means he might leave me, so I'm basically waiting for him to leave. I'm polyamorous but currently he's my only partner, I want to have a relationship with a woman again as I've only had that once(and it was a chaotic relationship). He's monogamous and I don't think he'll change.

It is painful now going through all of it, but you will be more comfortable and happier when your living your life with the love of your life. Life is too short not living the life you want. Don’t let people look down on you for being gay. Keep your head up.

I kinda relate to your struggles but I have a deferent story if you don’t mind sharing, my boyfriend is getting married to a woman we live in Saudi Arabia it’s quite impossible to maintain a gay relationship and he said to me he want to have kids we both are bisexual but I’m struggling to watch him go marring another woman. He said we can still be friends but I’m really hurting I don’t know what to do!

I know this video was posted a while ago.. but I’m in a heterosexual marriage and realizing how strong my feelings are for women. Do you have any advice as I’m taking a hard look at my life and kind of starting out on this journey of self acceptance.. we haven’t made any decisions yet. I’ve told him about my feelings and it doesn’t seem like he really believes me or sees it as a reason to question our marriage.

Hi Peter! That would be rough. So hard. I was married for 10 years, so not quite as long, but long enough that it was incredibly difficult to just change the relationship. I don't know what the best answer for you is, but know you're not alone in struggling with these things and that you deserve to be happy too.

You can acknowledge feelings deep down... You can question them, throw them away, push them back for many reasons (some do this to not hurt loved ones around, some because of fear of rejection or loss, some for their own convinience - there are a lot of reasons, right?) And at some point you just can't ignore them anymore, because these feelings keep creeping up from deep down and won't let you alone.... The suppressing makes you depressed, sad, questioning.... So you have to choose at some point.
