1. Yep, I’ve gotten two different copies from two different places a month apart, and both have identical issues. One of them was directly from Hasbro, so no I did not accidentally buy a stolen copy. 2. If you like your figure, honestly that’s great for you! You win for enjoying something I don’t, because I wish I liked it. 3. In advance for anyone who’s prepared to comment “he’s innacurate because he’s based on concept art” as a defense. This is the same thing I’ve told dozens of people who use that same tired argument, so don’t take it personally: I. don’t. care. 😂 It’s a studio series figure, and the #1 point of studio series is to be accurate to the movie, not the concept art. If they had to wait a few more months to start working on it in order to make him 5x more accurate, they should have. The mainline is for figures based on concept art, NOT studio series. Thanks for watching guys!
It’s just disappointing that they used concept art instead of waiting for the finalized design because the actual figure looks perfect compared to the concept art I do hope that the studio series figures release later so they’re more accurate
@@iforgor8271hes very far from it, no reptile neck, smaller and chunkier shoulder pads, too skinny and only accurate thing is blade truck mode from front and head(not neck)
i completely agree, id rather this abomination get released in the mainline and wait for a proper studio series version that looks accurate to the scourge we saw
@@ratman136SS102 is WAY worse than SS38. They ran out of budget money when they got to Prime's legs (seriously no joke.) His truck mode looks horrible. SS38 did it better💯
Actually, to all the people saying he was based on concept art, technically, Scourge was not. The intended release date for Rise of the Beasts was going to be June 24th of 2022, with the mainline toys coinciding with the movie’s release, and the SS coming out in 2023. This was supposed to be the final design for Scourge, used throughout the test screenings and changed only after it was delayed. However, the release dates of the SS toys were not pushed back, since they were already finished, and we got a jumbled release of inaccurate figures. Because of this, we’re stuck with the version of Scourge that would’ve been, not what we got. Airrazor faced the same fate, and it’s a shame that we weren’t able to get the best versions of the characters. TL;DR we were this close Joe Hasbro
Funny how night bird looked like a mess with a clunky backpack and horrible paint, but it turned out to be good and scourge looked cool and turned out to be disappointing
Yeah I actually agree lol. In the full review on my channel I went back in post production and added a segment where I changed the score to a 6 instead of 6.5. As time goes on since posting it might be down to a 5.5, but I wouldn’t go lower since he’s still somewhat fun to mess around with and there’s way worse figures out there 😂
About the clear plastic: if your copy was a pre production sample then most likely that’s the reason why it snapped so easily. My copy may have a bit of a stress mark but I can’t see it snapping any time soon. It does kinda scare me to transform it but it won’t break as long as I do it slowly and carefully
Kinda decided to hold off on buying SS Scourge since this didn't have his damaged/real face like in the movie. Hasbro already made SS Fallen with his torn "skeleton" face, so I kinda wished they did the same for Scourge.
I'm going to buy that ThreeZero Scourge, and probably all of the ThreeZero ROTB figures. The Studio Series ROTB figures don't look good and I really liked Scourge so I would like to have the best model of Scourge that I can get.
@@papermelon like I’ve said, my copy doesn’t have most of the issues yours does. The smokestacks may be a little bit loose but nowhere near as floppy as yours. I don’t care about hollow bits bc they don’t seem very prominent, and the movie accurate weapon storage makes the back look a lot better (he IS too skinny however and the shoulders/ head/ claw is not accurate, which is sad
I feel like from the waist up (minus the neck) the figure looks good, but the legs do not match with the rest of the figure at all. It feels like they were on route to something really cool, and then they just called it a day. This had potential to be one of the best Studio Series figures from the Rise of the Beasts line.
Scourge is the second SS figure I’ve purchased where I’ve had to purchase a second copy to keep in truck mode exclusively as that clear plastic, despite being thick, did crack quite a bit on my first copy that I’ve transformed twice. Nothing’s snapped off yet but it will happen I’m sure since clear plastic will clear plastic and all that. Only other one is SS49, or technically that as it was from the 15th anniversary autobot 5-pack with the chad head and I purchased the DotM bee to replace it as the tooling was a lot better compared to the previous ones.
The clear plastic on mine cracked too. I sanded the hexagonal edges on the hinge and it moves fine now. I think the issue is just too sharp of corners to move along.
My scourge that I payed a lot like almost $60 it already has stress marks from the clear plastic on the back 😭 I stopped transforming him more since then
If Hasbro is wise they will release mainline movie figures with the movies and Studio Series AFTER the movie so we don't have concept/inaccurate figures like Scourge and Mirage🤓💯
I liked him at first, enough to give him a custom paint job but after the movie he’s just inaccurate and I wish they just did better with him, on this toy specifically breakages are way too common, mine broke and I’ve heard of a lot of other breakages, idk what we would do to get an accurate scourge now, the yolopark looks great but it doesn’t transform
As much as I love this figure, a portion of the grill snapped as soon as I Transformed it for the first time. As for the design being based on Concept Art, Scourge was never *That* thin, even in concept art. Still though, definitely a fun figure for me overall, can't wait for the upgrade kit.
Also, the light piping. There's a lot of it, but it doesn't connect in a way that lets a lot of light through. It feels like this figure must have been based on some earlier draft of his character design because the proportions just don't match what's on screen. Especially with that giraffe neck and tiny head. I still don't regret getting him because it will probably be a decade or more before we get a better mainline version, but I just wish he was better.
Mine (which I’ve had for pretty much a year now) the clear plastic snapped in the exact same spot, I’m annoyed but glad it’s not the actual hinge and just the part that makes it “thoop” into place, lucky on mine the hinge is tight enough and it pegged into the back securely that the detents in the hinge was kind of unnecessary.
It sucks because I’m collecting all of the ROTB cast but I’m just really not feeling him. Especially the prices he’s going for nowadays. Let’s be honest, we’re all buying that upgrade kit anyway. Huge mixed bag.
There’s an upgrade kit floating around that gives him a movie accurate head, fills out the gaps, and makes him look a lot beefier than he does stock, and you can still transform him with everything on, that’s the only way I would ever buy this figure, if you want a leader, get primal
Also knock a point off for the only way you can get him at retail is if somebody with target reor whatever returns him, he ends up on the shelf, and you scan another leader with him
I mean, I liked the figure, and after putting LEDs in the chest and head (I use a wireless LED stand) it's way cooler, BUT I would like for them to redo this figure
I don’t know if you’ll read this comment but Baiwei just released their KO SS Scourge and from what I’ve seen, they basically fix everything wrong with the figure. They used screws for the smokestacks, thiccened the thighs, gave him movie accurate feet (with die cast foot bridge strut things), a much better head sculpt, and an articulated claw, among other things. All that for around 25 bucks on show z. I got him coming on the way with both DNA Design 46 and 49 upgrade kits. 49 basically completely changes his shoulder transformation to give him movie accurate shoulders btw. (And I’m aware that not everything on 46 is going to fit on this KO since it was intended for the original figure)
Scourge looked amazing in the movie but the only thing I don’t like about his figure is that his neck is way to big and doesn’t really look like how it does in the movie. Anyways it’s a pretty good figure.
I completely respect your opinons but i would like to point out some things. Please keep in mind this is from my experience and knowledge i have 1. The smokestacks is a very common issue. Definitely QC, but imo very minor nitpick. I fixed it with some sticky tack. Yes its a leader class. No it shouldent happen but this is what we have to deal with since nothing is perfect. 2. That specific hinge is commonly known to pop off on factory rejects. In your pinned comment you said you did not buy a stolen copy. There are no known reports of this happening on regulated figures. I feel it somehow got past QC. 3. Yes it's studio series. I agree that it doesnt match. It should. Then again when this figure was made, this was the final design, and the movie was set to be released *last* year. I dont really mind that in that case. but this depends on preference. Personally i prefer a concept art focused good (imo) figure other than wait a good year maybe two (bc that's how long somtimes longer to design a figure) to get a proper scourge. Im sure in the future this will be fixed. 4. Where exactly is he "hollow". With hasbros budget getting smaller we must expect this kind of waffeling. If you are talking about inside his chest then that is past nitpicky. You dont even see inside his chest and his head goes there. 5. Skinny is his design. Hes meant to look agile. Is you are saying he is too skinny, then we are going back to the concept art. 6. The legs. I have not seen your channel before so I do not know how much of a tf fan you are but leg transformation are pretty simple not due to budget. It personally satisfys me but if it doesn't for you, remever his gun can transform to become a real world *accurate* truck bed. Imo this is the best truck bed we have gotten since ss38. I mean have you seen ss galvatron??!! 7. How can you expect his arm to have *that* much articulation. This is leader class! This guy is huge! His budget is well placed. Would you want them to sacrifice somthing just to have that articulation. Remember we just started getting articulated hands. That was standered for masterpiece, not mainline. 8. I understand the head. Same issue on virtually every other copy. Mine came with the head popped off. That shouldnt be the case. Thats a hasbro L. 9. The arm loosness can be fixed with a screwdriver. I wouldnt blame that on Hasbro. Your figure loosens with time so dont blame that on hasbro. 10. I would like you to define the "he doesn't deserve the leader price point" i agreee. I wouldn't mine paying more to get a slightly better figure. But if you mean he is worth less, the all i have to say is seriously?? You want a worse figure at a voyager price point? Kinda shocking imo I really hope this didnt sound stuck up, but it kinda bugged me how much you are complaining about minor things. Again i havenet looked at your channel yet but if you are a new transformers fan maybe take a look at the standered of studio series releases. They are VERY hit or miss. This guy is very good for that line imo.
I appreciate you being respectful about the disagreements man. The funny thing is you’ve admitted to agreeing with 90% of everything I complained about the figure, but you still think I’m being nitpicky 😂. In most of your points, you basically said “what you said about ____ is completely true…but I don’t care”. To answer your question, yes I know Hasbro and their SS line very well. I own virtually every single Studio Series figure, and I’ve collected transformers for 16 years. I generally love Hasbro and what they make, but this figure failed to uphold their typical standards in design and QC. I have very realistic expectations for Hasbro, but I feel that people like you will let anything pass because your expectations are so low. And even if you think the SS line is hit or miss, that doesn’t suddenly justify them producing bad quality now. If everyone believed that, we’d only get trash figures and it seems like plenty of fans would eat it up lol. At the end of the day, my complaints were not minor, because they all add up to making a very negative experience. I owned 2 copies, and both had identical issues. A breakage is a breakage. Loose joints are loose joints. Lazy engineering is lazy engineering. An inaccurate design is an inaccurate design. And so on… Not sure if you’ve seen the movie, but he is absolutely not skinny lol. He’s a beefcake. And yes, it is 10000% Hasbro’s responsibility to make sure their figure’s arms and joints aren’t loose.
@@papermelon wow that's really cool! Another avid transformers fan is really cool. I have seen the movie but it think the most they could do would be to bulk out the wheels. Idk. I agree QC is a horrible thing now that's gotten way out of hand. Reading your message really makes me realize how normalized it is now and that shouldn't be the case. For a multimillion dollar company this shouldn't be a widespread issue. But allas here we are. We are still buying the product and Hasbro won't do anything about it. Btw idk if you know this but Hasbro has GREAT customer service. If you email them your issues with pictures they will send you a replacement. If they dont have it in stock they will send you something that's the same price that they do have
I feel your pain but if I want to make the purchase u can buy a upgrade kit to fix at least most of the issues but the loose and broken will not be issued in the upgrade kit
Man me and you land so differently on the SS Rotb figures and I’m glad cuz it’s giving me good perspectives!! I had scourge as my second favorite from bumblebee. I do see the problems you have though! Also I gotta give scourge credit for not using any cheats in robot mode. Besides maybe a couple details on the arms, all the crucial stuff ends up in the right place on both modes.
Cool to hear your thoughts man! Glad you like the figure, I wish I did. I think if everyone agreed on every figure it'd be pretty boring, so good on you for being chill about it
hopefully, they would do a 2.0 version, im fine with them doing it again with a more accurate screen look, this version of scourge deserves every piece of merch that would do him justice.
I actually figured out what was up with that hinge that everyone’s snapping. It’s due to mistransformation. That hinge is only supposed to fold inward to form the cab of the truck. However, everyone seems to be folding it outward for some reason, which breaks it because it was not designed to go that far out.
Honestly I think you’re right. I was so hyped for this figure and I got it and I loved it. But then I discovered the yolopark model. Much better proportions, crisp detail, and great articulation. So I consigned the SS figure to vehicle mode, because with the gun arm covering the emptiness of the truck bed, it’s still a nice truck.
Honestly I feel like the quality of the recent studio series figures have been disappointing compared to when it first released its first ever wave. To be fair to this figure, it was made based on concept art and very dark shots of Scourge from the trailers so it not being accurate (especially the head and torso) is understandable. But honestly, Scourge is a figure they HAVE to make a re-release for.
Well that was the original plan, but then the movie was delayed a year, designs were reworked and hasbro had already sunk too many costs into the SS ROTB stuff to scrap em and start over
Just use resin casting & add paint into the mix that matches it. To fill in the gaps. What I did with my GI Joe Megatron hiss tank. I filled up the cannon.. With Black resin. Wiped ff the residue with exacto knife. & good as fixed.
I loved scourge as a villian and i got this as a birthday gift the sword is cool asf and hes actually in my hand rn but my only problem is the balance on him its just terrible
In my country, he costs well over 65 USD. I like the design of the toy more than the final look, but yeah, he's far too insubstantial to be worth the price, even though my copy doesn't suffer from breakages.
I haven’t been in the Transformers SS collecting scene for a few years but coming back and seeing all the new SS toys being so bad is depressing and has made me think of how far SS has fallen off. I remember Hasbro saying it was movie accurate entirely: color, design, height (I still don’t know why they said that) everything. Scourge is probably a remold of mainline AOE Galvatron from Wave 2 voyager class
I’d heard that he wasn’t designed off concept art but the actual model for the film but they changed the design last minute along with other changes but they’d already started mass production of the figure and was too late to change it. I don’t know how much of that is true or just rumour
I bought him a couple months ago just after seeing the movie, literally the day after, and I was really disappointed with like the exact same stuff, I don’t have the same problem with the left smoke stack but I do have a problem with all of them, they’ll just pop out sometimes, and same with his head they won’t make a sound and when I look back at him he’ll be missing a smoke stack or be headless, or both
I believe the name is yolocraft, but they sell a scourge figure that looks so much better. Only gripes is he’s a little too metallic and can’t transform but I like him
I think it’s a case of your mileage may vary on the majority of videos, posts etc that I have seen their copies of scourge were absolutely fine. For me personally I keep my transformers in robot mode anyway so the truck doesn’t bug me that much as we literally only see it in the movie in two scenes. I don’t mind it not being completely accurate because, it’s a figure that can transform into a truck, there’s going to be at least some kibble. I don’t agree that he’s too skinny as in the movie he is actually a very slender bot compared to bots like Battletrap and Optimus Primal. I do however, agree that he doesn’t deserve the leader class price point. I personally would have loved to have seen more logos on the arms like in the movie and an alternate regular hand to justify the price point. Overall I’m going to pick him up. Xx
All I can say is that it's true, but I'd also say the delay really messed the production up allot. All I do know that there's going to be a Yolopark figure that'll be more accurate to the model, and be around 30 dollars. Sure it may not transform... but Scourge barely even transform much. Either way, do respect your statement and opinion
I bought him yesterday and I actually really like him. I do like how the head has the long mustache like the g1 design, but the only thing I don’t like about him is also the exhaust pipes on his left side. Is there any way to make them tighter?
I tried floor polish, rubber bands, zip ties and twisty ties. nothing worked that didn't look ridiculous for me, so it just hangs down 🫤 sorry. glad you like him otherwise though!
I agree 100%. As a stop motion animator here on youtube I must say this is probably the worst figure I've tried to animate. He falls every time, articulation is not the best and he does not resemble the character in the movie
I'll wait till an oversized KO version shows up. Since I prefer to buy from third parties at this point, Hasbros track record for Quality has kind of degraded exponentially. I like additional tooling, resculpts, diecast, additional aspects that complement the transformation.
New movie leader class figure was a quick cash grab? You don't say... Tho yeah, that's not supposed to happen with Studio Series, but b/c of how the movie lines are merged into that line now, shelf space during movie years isn't like it was. TBH, it was kind of bare minimum for this movie in general.
Paper Melon that studio seirs scourge was a concept figure and there is a upgrade kit avalible to make more screen accurate and there are panles to make it less skinny and fillers to fill in the hollow areas
I've gotten a 40 dollar KO and it seems to be higher quality than scourge from hasbro themselves. Only issues are the hinge on the chest cracking slowly and the right arm not being very stable and tight.
I agree with u about this figure except I don’t find him too hollow, but I get where ur getting at, he’s actually one of my only transformers within the past few years to have some weight, I got grimlock ss 07 and Grindor but Grindor has less weight than both of the other two somehow and he becomes this gigantic helicopter toy
Mine didn’t have any of the QC issues that yours did. Personally I enjoy the figure quite a bit. The legs though, I agree wholeheartedly with you about. There’s really no excuse for how pathetic that part of the transformation is.
Wondering if they’re gonna go back and do it again like how they changed the voyager bayformers prime mold Same character, different figure, different backdrop In the meantime, I got some third party upgrades to make him accurate
I love scourge even though the clear plastic scares me a little I don’t really care about the inaccuracies and thankfully my scourge has tight smoke stacks
Around what price would you recommend for this guy? I want to get back into collecting movie figures due to rotb, or should i just wait for the yolopark model kit?
