This is true ! 😆 I've noticed it too ! A very special flower the Iris. 🌼 😍 💐🪴💐 I love the way you teach Kristy. 😌 I think I'll give it a try. 😘🧚🏼♀️🪄 🌼
Finding shapes and lines on the iPad is GENIUS! I’m on the edge of my seat waiting for your brushes to be in stock. Also waiting for your palette to burst in to the scene. I bet they’ll go fast! I feel like I’m waiting for concert tickets and hoping I’m closest to the beginning that I get a good seat and it’s not sold out. Really Kristy I do know your brushes and palette aren’t going to make me a great artist. I have too many paints and brushes now. But I just live how you’ve changed my experience in watercolor from struggling doing step by step tutorials replicating a piece- only to find when I go on my own I was so unhappy with my ability to produce much that pleased me. Therefore taking all the fun out of it. I want to support you in any way I can. I’m collecting your books and lately have been excited to get out of bed and PAINT. Thank you. I wish I had found you sooner. But I think I found you when I was supposed to.
Finding that thing that makes you excited to wake up in the morning is absolutely priceless and I’m honored to have helped you find that, in small ways!
Iris is my all time favorite flower (I even have one tattooed on my leg). It was my mother’s favorite too. I guess I would have to say laying down the map is my favorite part since I never know where to start. This video is definitely a save. Thanks Kristy.
Dear Kristy, today I have received my 4 sets of your brushes. (I have made sure I will enjoy them for decades!) I have painted a beautiful landscape this afternoon, bc couldn’t help but painting with them today and I have enjoyed them SO MUCH! Really love them. They are cute and easy to use. I felt confident. Lots of love from Barcelona!❤️
Loved this. You broke this down so we can learn to do something complicated in an easy way. Would love to see this for other flowers or fruits. Thank you.
Since I'm at the beginning of my watercolor journey my mind is blown by everything! Your carefree approach is so encouraging! I will be practicing tomorrow.
I appreciated your mapping on the ipad. That helps me break the iris down without feeling overwhelmed by its complexity. The details are magnificent! Your iris really does remind me of Georgia's!
I painted with you, it does resemble an iris...but I need to try it a few more times. I just allowed the video to play, at normal speed, and tried to keep up, and I am shocked it really looks this good, but I still have more work to do. I really liked painting in in layers, very light, to start....that really helped me understand how to get started, even if it is just clean water.
Hi, thank you very much for yur tutorial. I needed an Iris, because my collegue Iris has passed away and I wanted to make an Iris with my own hands for her memorial booklet. I made the picture with my Derwent Inktense pencils, so my Iris is not so very flow-y as yours, but I am very proud, since I have never ever done something like this. So thank you again!
Thanks, Kristy! My fav part was the mapping out process. I have been wanting to paint a pale mauve and pale yellow bearded iris in memory of my father, as he used to grow them. I no longer feel intimidated to try since you simplified things with the mapping out process! Appreciate this so much! 😊🎨🖌
Love, love this! The way you map it out, and break it down! I really like the way you say to ‘stack’ the strokes to get the ruffle effect! I try every year to paint iris when mine come into bloom- maybe this year I will be successful! Thank you!
Love your teaching style and your art style! I've done a lot of very realistic botanical illustrations in the past. I've recently resumed making art and I 'm now striving to learn to be looser, less detailed and more impressionistic. I've been binging on your videos! Thanks for all of the wonderful and supportive ideas, strategies and encouragement for people to be free and creative.
As a retired florist I just love to paint flowers and love your breakdown of the iris has made it so simple. I haven't attempted the iris because it was so intimidating. I would really love to see your way of painting the carnation which has been so difficult for me I've basically given up and that's so sad because the carnation and iris are my all time favorites. Thanks for all you do Kristy. Love to you
So gorgeous! I love your teaching style and especially the linear details!! I got your brushes a couple of weeks ago and am loving the daggers!!! Could you do a Calla Lily sometime?
Omg I stumbled across you on RU-vid. I am an absolute beginner to watercolour. I love the way you teach, the style you use. (Feeling so inspired to try this iris). I found your watercolour exercises video and have been practicing. You have made watercolour feel within my reach. Thank you so much. Now devouring as many of your RU-vid posts as I can.
I'll be doing a Louisiana Iris (purple and gold) and a white one I grow called Immortality. Mine should eb blooming in a short while so, I'll practice from pictures until then.
Hey Kristy. I am a 65 year old watercolor beginner. I recently found your channel and really enjoy your videos. You are so upbeat, enthusiastic and supportive. I am trying out your techniques and like my results. I appreciate all your work. Just a question are you still offering your brushes on Amazon? I bought a cheapo brush at my local Hobby Lobby but I'd like a better brush. Thank you.
I'm going to try out your tutorials. I've been trying to follow Emma Jane Lefebvre and she's amazing but I'm a huge control freak and unhappy with almost everything I try to copy her on...I legit feel like she'll make this amazing tiny flower and mine is frickin Sloth from Goonies all like "HEY YoUuU GuuUuUUyYSSS!" lol..It's SO frustrating. I really need to let loose and your tutorials are so stress free and messy and crazy in the best way. I want to be more like that.
I just wanted to tell you that I just painted the most ugliest damn painting that I have ever saw in my entire 55 years and I had a great time!! I feel less stressed, and more joyful. When I started, I didn’t have any expectations except to have fun. But boy is it ugly!!! Lol
KRISTY PLEASE HELP! I came across your RU-vid channel earlier this week. I am completely obsessed with your way of teaching and your upbeat persona. I have been looking for new brushes for a while. Kristy, your brush set is exactly what I have been looking for. I went on Amazon and searched for your brushes. I tried searching under art for joy's sake and by your name, but I can't find them. I would appreciate it if you could help me purchase your brushes. I love to paint and due to arthritis in my hands I'm finding it difficult to hold my brushes. Your brushes are smaller and aerodynamic. I feel that they will be a game changer for me. I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but I live in Ontario, Canada. Thank you and I can't wait to finish binge watching your channel. 🌺😀
Hi Kristy, I just recently subscribed and am loving your beautiful art! Your brushes look amazing but they appear to be out of stock. Will they be available again?
My first day in a beginning watercolor class had a bouquet of irises! OMG! I want to thank YOU for getting over the ruffle struggle! (and everything else, to tell you the truth . ..Sh h h)

So beautiful! I didn’t paint with you but I’m going to rewatch and give it a go! I imagine the detail part will be my favorite too…. It completes the painting. Thank you. 😊🌼
I stumbled upon your channel and am so thrilled I did! Your delightful personality shines through your art! I love your open, beautiful style. Thank you for sharing!
