You can now buy the exact same brushes that I use in my videos in my Etsy store! www.etsy.com/u...
We've set sail to illustrate all sorts of sea creatures and shells in the watercolour Ocean Series.
If you've enjoyed this video and would like to support me further take a look at my Patreon page at bit.ly/3briO5P to see what we've got to offer.
Each painting project involves mastering a particular watercolour technique. The ocean series is all about creating beautiful illustrations with a single colour. The scallop shell in Prussian Blue looks at isolating separate areas and painting gradation washes to create shape and form. Enjoy!
Don't forget to make suggestions of things you would like to learn how to paint in the comments below.

Thanks Jo. I love putting the graded washes next to each other in reverse, it works really nicely.

Beautiful. I was surprised to see that you use Prussian Blue a lot in your flower paintings. I must admit that this is one of the least used colours in my box (along with Veridian) but I'm certainly going to use them both much more in the future now I realise what I've been missing. I've discovered that Veridian is brilliant in creating very dark greens.

Thank you! Cheers! Well I'm self taught and I started out with prussian blue as my main dark blue before I deceloped my palette but I love the green tone it has for plant painting

Scallop shell just completed. Not as delicate as yours (!) but not too shabby. One thing right at the beginning...please say an approximation of the line sizes you do in ‘prep’ so it’s easier to estimate a decent size final painting. The camera angles (no complaints on angles, just mentioning for this one point) don’t always give an easy estimate when at the stage of drawing the line. Really fun and relaxing. (I did the starfish and shell yesterday...since you asked that was a sea snail shell...or Gastropod if you want to be fancy 🤭). You also asked what we would like to see painted...I struggle with wood and bark in watercolour so a twig would be useful. Thank you :-)

Thanks so much for your feedback. Yes, we've managed to improve production values since the last two videos so I hope it will be easier now.

Great! Do you find that a bit of the paint also rubs off when you rub out the pencil?

Yes sometimes, and I have done a bit more about that in the third video in the ocean series which was uploaded last night.
