I could never. I had a dark blue and black room as a teenager and it made my depression so much worse. Idk how my house plants would survive in a room that dark, either
@@MS-we9gn Funny, because my room was white and orange when I was a teenager and that was the most depressed I've ever been. And now my room is a dark green, brown, black and subtle white, and I've never been more happier and content with my life. And about the plants.. just put them near windows ?? I have a literal mini forest in here.
i had one of those really dark colors, it was maroon and dark green. and let me tell you, day naps were good beacuse of low light, however it needed like two heavy led bulbs to make it lit enough to study a book without much eye effort. if you love black like I do, just paint one wall possibly that, which is in front of you bed.
This. As a teen I had a room painted black and blue (I was goth and thought it was the coolest idea ever). It made my depression worse, I needed more lamps and it attracted bugs. Something about a darker room is appealing to them
@@Jovi-Kazookat I have no issue with someone not liking the darkness. merely pointing out that if you color pick the color on a color wheel it is literally a shade of (yes, dark) green 🙃
@@corndo9 if you need to color-pick on a wheel to decide what color something is, then you’re usually at the point where you’re going into needless specifics. It looks dark gray, so people are gonna call it dark gray. Doesn’t matter what the hue is in this context, it just looks dark gray 👍
I know dark colors are supposed to make a room feel smaller, but I feel like that means it can also make it feel cozy, especially with a deep earth tone like this. Love it
Always love to see when people don’t shy away from bold and dark colors 🙌 as long as you know your space and lighting well, it can really elevate a room’s atmosphere and character.
@@user-zl5ph6nt1r eh that’s all personal taste. and if the homeowner loves it then i don’t think they should change it just because other people who don’t live there don’t like it
@@tessbessette5365 I was talking about what most people think as the OG comment was made to show people are afraid.Nope they are not. They just find it awful and devoid of any beauty. I mean I have no interest to live in a Gothic Era house which reminds of the dark age period. Second, no one is asking the owners to change their taste but people are entitled to give their own opinion as well as this video is shared on a public platform.
@@user-zl5ph6nt1r i know what you were talking about? you can think it’s devoid of beauty but if the homeowners like it then it’s ultimately their house and it makes them happy. i never said you weren’t entitled to your opinion, i was just saying people should live in what brings them joy. i hope you’re doing the same. if they like gothic style interior then more power to them.
@@tessbessette5365 Totally agree with that. People are entitled to live in the place which please them. I don't like it that's my pov. So yeah I understand what you are saying, no problem with that 👍
Been working in a paint store for multiple years, can confirm this is gray with green tones. Still nice and most people painting gray prefer the look without any prompts
Wow! I haven’t seen a lot of dark colors work well (maybe I haven’t looked enough!) and I didn’t think this one would look good to me right up until it was finally on the wall. You’re absolutely right with this one - the room has a completely different vibe now! Well done for sure 👍🏻
I love dark-colored rooms! I vibe with the small, secluded feeling they give off. So many people say you shouldn’t use them, but it’s your space and you can always cover it up with a good primer
I vibe with light colors like mango yellow in living rooms, makes it bright and fun to be in. I would literally fall asleep in a room this color, so great for a bedroom 😂
Id suggest only using dark colours on one wall. Having an entire room painted dark is gloomy and depressing, but one wall looks great. Look up pictures
I personally despite dark coloured walls. They suck all the energy out of the room. In contrast, my mom's kitchen is a mix of vibrant blues and oranges with hints of sunflowers- okay more than just a hint, the sunflowers swarm the entire house and even the gardens. But back to the main topic, I really love the vibrancy and cheerfulness that the kitchen colours have.
Never really liked colors on the walls or dark colors on the walls mostly because it makes everything less bright to me because white bounces light better.
Painting your walls is an AMAZING way to make it feel more like you!!! When we moved in, our house was a bland white all thru. Then we painted it and the blues and greens and purples just make it so much more lively and fun!
i AUDIBLY went "Oouuuuhhh" when that transition from old beige to oliveblack walls happened... wasnt expecting much from a color that looks like that but dang what a pretty dining room
New light???😂😂😂😂 more like no light 😂😂😂 if u wanted it to be dark AF congrats u achieved that... I would never EVER paint a room that dark unless it's a movie room or it's for some1 who loves the darkness 😂😂😂
So my brother was on drugs and did this. Never seen a worse decision made by him before, ngl. The room was pitch black most of the time, and during the daytime it always felt later, because it made the room feel so dark. Couldn't see crap half the time
Our walls were white when we moved in and I absolutely hated it. It made me feel like the house was unfinished, and like an asylum. It just made me feel bad and uneasy. We painted them a light blue gray color and even though it may not be a drastic change, it feels so much better.
Hard disagree. Chances are even with pale white walls someone will be leaving the lights on after passing out on the couch anyways. lol Darker or black colors look sophisticated, modern, and brings attention to your decor. Unless a room is small and has no window, black is a fine color.
Bad for a room or office, but amazing for a dinning room, it makes the mood more calm, you don't depend on the light to do everything, and it's just amazing in general
