Our trip to Paint Creek State Park in Bainbridge, OH, Tuesday-Friday, July 19-22, 2022. We enjoyed this beautiful park, but camping during an extreme heat wave did limit our outdoor activities. We were able to go kayaking and fishing in the early mornings and evenings, but would have liked to do some hiking in the state park if it had been a little cooler. So we will definitely plan to go back next year, perhaps in the fall.
We were in site 117, which had a bit of a view of the lake, and a nice little deck that we could close off with our dog fence for Hana. She also didn't spend much time outdoors due to the heat. The dip that led to the firepit was very steep - we walked down it once with walking sticks, but it was not easy. Between that and the heat, we actually didn't even have a campfire!
Kayaking and fishing continues to be our favorite part of camping. We decided we're going to need a second fishing net though, since it takes too long to pull up the anchor if the person who caught the monster fish (like Joe's catfish, and the bass!) is in the kayak without the net! Lesson learned.
