Wow, so gorgeous Liesl! The peace rose has always been my favorite because of the pink and yellow combinations. In a sense it does offer a peaceful setting when they display their beauty! 😊💕You make it so easy to understand and love the close ups you provide! Thanks for another lovely tutorial!
The pink yellow roses are my absolute favorites! I just think they’re so pretty. Thanks again for all you do for me Laina, you’re amazing! 🥰 Happy painting my friend.
Cannot wait to get started. I just need to transfer my initial drawing to watercolor paper and then I can paint. Thank you Liesl for helping me get out of my comfort zone. Blessings to you!
Oh my goodness! 🥰 You are so kind! Thank you so much for your donation, that really means so much to me that you would do that. ❤️ I’m just happy you’re enjoying my tutorials. Take care my friend.
Hi! I’m glad you liked this rose, and doing a blue one is a fun idea! I think if you were to try a blue one, there are a couple of ways you could try this. If you use just one color of blue, paint it with different values, (light and dark) to differentiate the individual petals. For example have the dark color more in the middle or inside edge of the petal and light in the outer edge (or vise versa). Or you could also try painting it with 2 different blue colors. You could still paint the rose using the exact same technique as shown in this video, just with either different colors or values of blue. 😊 Thanks for watching today!
Hi Liesl. I followed this painting couple of times. Of course it didn’t come out as good as yours!!! I have a question: is there something out there that after the paint dries I can use it over the painting to put some gloss on it??? I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much.
Yay! I’m glad you tried it and that you’re pleased with how it turned out! As for the gloss on the top, there probably is something you could use, but I’ve never personally tried it myself, so unfortunately I don’t have suggestions for you about that. 🤷♀️ You may have to experiment with it a bit I guess! Best of luck! Thanks for watching, it’s always a joy to hear from you. Take care!
I began watercolor 2 yrs. age, at age 76. Does it a take a forest of paper to make a watercolorist? I thank you for this very good approach to painting a rose. They are so popular, & well loved. Thank you once again.
I’m so glad you have taken up watercolor painting! It definitely can take some practice to get the hang of, but it really is so much fun. 🥰 I totally understand when it comes to how much paper is needed for painting and practicing! 😅 Unfortunately any form of art requires supplies of some kind. (If it makes you feel better, in my experience, as someone who paints with acrylic and oil too, I personally feel that supplies for watercolor tend to last longer, not cost as much and take less room to store compared to full on canvases.) Hang in there my friend! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment today, I truly appreciate it. Take care and happy painting! 🥰
You know, I almost did a background for this, but decided last minute not to, so I’m glad you’re thinking about giving it a try. If I did one, I was just going to do a really light wash of color, with pink near and around the petals and green near and around the leaves. I might even add yellow here and there. 🤷♀️ Good luck! I’m sure it will turn out great!
Did you use 100% cotton paper so that the colors would bleed so beautifully? Do you prefer a certain brand of paint? This was absolutely stunning, and I am soooooo glad I found you and subscribed! Thanks so much for the line drawing too!
The paper is Arches 100% cotton watercolor paper, and the brand of paints is M. Graham & Co. (Although, there are many great brands of paints out there, I tend to be partial to M. Graham!) I have all the brand names, supplies, and links to all products used in this video listed in the description if you’re interested in learning more. 😉 Thanks Gale!
Yay! I’m glad you’re thinking of giving this one a try. 🥰 Here’s the link to the drawing video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mYJQmuzzhJI.htmlsi=NcJDfRNM0yAWCr8S
