I know it's probably been mentioned in the comments a lot by now, but absolutely look up the Baiwei KO if you haven't already. It addresses almost every complaint about this figure. A beautiful silver finish with details picked out in gold and bronze like individual gears on the treads and the thrusters on his back, It comes with KOs of the DNA parts, and those flappy bits on the back of his legs are pinned in (thank god) and are made of die cast.
5:33 That’s one thing I kinda like about this Megatron: Hasbro got good mileage out of this figure. They were able to reuse the chest piece, tank tread mould, and hip transformation into other figures.
@@theyamformerreborn706 That's where it gets interesting. For SS DotM Shockwave, they reused _a lot_ from SS RotF Megatron. They reused the tank treads, the upper arm/elbow, neck, hip, and even Megatron's "head cage" in addition to some engineering cues. You could almost consider the former a heavy retool of the latter.
How in the world is the reuse of parts something you like lmao? Movie 1 Megs would have been so much better if he came with an accurate chest instead of reusing the chest of this figure.
@@killerdiva7771 It is less so me liking the reuse of parts, more so me liking the _figure_ for demonstrating Hasbro's amusing attempt at being "resourceful." That's why I said "kinda like," it's a begrudging intrigue. Yes, Hasbro is no stranger to reusing parts/engineering/etc into other figures, which can potentially skew toy accuracy. And yes, I too lament Hasbro's choice of profitability over toy accuracy, but corporations is as corporation does. I'll just appreciate the figure for what it is and its little history/connection with other figures.
It's really funny. I literally just got the baiwei version of this guy. He comes with the DNA kit, and ALL THE PAINT lol. It came with the damaged head, a nonblaster arm, and the wings and gap fillers included. I got it for $35 free one day off Amazon
It is a cool mold - but I totally get why people are turned off by the lack of paint and the hollow torso. As far as deco goes, I recommend to get the Battle Damaged Megatron version, which also sports the battle damaged head from the final battle. I got the DNA kit for that release as well.
I’ve yet to see any bay Megatron heads with a closed mouth. He looks much more menacing than opened. Especially this one with the way the cheeks look puffy, makes him look asthmatic and chubby.
The music is always nice in the intro. Also i wish you could use the 2nd version of wha I've done in a review of oneof the 2007 moive figures without RU-vid slaping you in the face!
I got this guy last year, and I couldn't resist the urge to paint all the flat gray in silver. Like, *all* of it. He's as silver as SS 07 Megs is on my shelf lol. Still good tho
This was my first figure in my new collection I started back in 2021, and mine has yet to yellow at all. It may be bland and somewhat strange, but he's definitely one of my favorite Megatrons.
I had the same problem with the tank not staying flat on the ground. But then I rewattched Emgos review and the said the knees soft klick into place. Mine never did this so I pushed the knees carefully farther and they klicked into place. Now he stays flat on ground. I also fully customized mine. I got the DNA upgrade kit and fully painted him. I really like the figure now and probably wouldn't replace him with a newer version.
I did remember the time where the prototype was painted but the final product is just gray plastic. The battle damage version is a little better in terms of paint but it isn’t the same as the Studio Series 2007 Voyager. Premium Finish for some reason repainted the already silver Studio Series 2007 voyager instead of the Studio Series Revenge Of The Fallen Voyager where he needed it the most.
Still only own the original ROTF voyager so even minus the paint here it's already a huge improvement. Coolest thing about the original was the inner working mechanisms in the chest. SS ROTF Megatron really needed the LC treatment as does every movie Megatron moving forward.
This figure (and the Baiwei reproduction) are pretty good, but considering how Studio Series has evolved with engineering, I wouldn't be averse to a redo at Leader class to remedy the hollow chest and include all the extra tank parts.
I actually find the hollowness to be a plus because it means you can pose him and first studio series Optimus together with Optimus stabbing him through the gaps like in the movie, because in the movies you can just stab them anywhere and somehow it doesn't leave any damage
What if when sophie reaches x amount of points in a quiz she gets a title shot i think it would be fun at least one time even if she doesnt know too much about wwe it could be something like the underdog against the odds
I would probably love this figure if I didn't _always_ get bad QC in the legs of my figures. The toes and heel on one leg just refuse to seat properly, the toes won't splay, and the heel and consequently the side panel have that awful bendy tolerance issue where you press it into place and then it repeatedly undoes itself like 4 degrees
I encountered a problem with my copy whereby the head was way too tight on the ball joint and one day, when I was trying to move it, it snapped off at the joint. His head has been glued looking straight ahead for years now.
That was part of the actual on-screen design, so they had to leave it there. Still funny, though. One of the few Transformers that canonically 'pooths'.
3:15 I got this guy for my birthday , my version has the issue where that thing pop out and joints are so small it won't connect well, One of many figures that I refuse to transform due to that problem, nice design and perfect fit for voyager but it sucks. Well studio series glavatron is a better replacement for my megatron
Given how hollowed out, small, and simple modern SS has gotten because of the supposed paint apps, I will happily take unpainted grey plastic if it means the figure itself is good. Especially because it ends up as a voyager rather than pointlessly blown up to leader class like the recent megatron.
I do like this figure a lot but the QC was bad. The panels that come off are really annoying, and the feet are weird, but overall it's still fun. It did really need silver though. Lots of silver.
I can confidently say that my Studio Series Megatron yellowed so bad in the back, but that's my fault for leaving it in the sun for too long, and it was way before I even knew about the yellowing problem.
If any of you want this guy, get the battle damaged one. It’s the exact same figure but with way better paint and the only molding change is the head sculpt which is honestly pretty ignorable if you dont like the look
I don't like RotF nor the Bayverse in general. But, that tankmode is _SO_ close to being cool. Just remove the stupid head & headcage thing & you're golden!
But in the first movie they run in fear from him when he arrives on scene. Shame the way they treated megatron after the first movie. Optimus could barely stand against him in 1. Megatron was straight taxin him the whole fight until the jets hit em with with like 5 missiles
Baiwei Megatron is much better lol if you want a gunmetal ver ,with upgrade kit like wings , claws , better chest and battledamage head plus super cheap i got it lower than 20usd
The baiwei megs has way better paint and is a bit up scaled so if you don't like the paint on this one that one has way better paint and it doesn't chip
