Heya! Thwargle here.
We're back working on the project beetle, Bernard! We try out a weird new trick to get rid of the oxidized look to the paint using Boiled Linseed Oil and man, it really does look way better.

Many years ago I remember my Dad doing this to a red 65 Ford Galaxy. He used kerosene instead of linseed oil

I can't imagine this would work? If the car didn't move yes. Once it starts to drive you're going to pick up dirt.

Old car hasn't seen love like this since it left the factory.

Did something similar accidentally with WD40 on my 96 Red Honda del Sol. Original semi faded paint. Just rub on with cloth. Looks great for a while.

Looks great. I wonder how long it lasts, if dust sticks to it, if winter causes it to go hard or yellow (I tried winter greasing a chrome bumper many years ago and that didn't end well! 😅), and if causes a problem if choose to repaint in future with paint adhesion? Looks great tho 😊👍

Any oil will do this. But it dries out and looks almost as bad as before.

I guess we’ll find out! Hopefully it lasts a little while at least. I’m not worried about the body that much yet, since I’m still working on getting the floors done and getting it running. Thanks for the feedback and we’ll see how it goes.

yeah, you just put oil... I work the same with engine oil, brake liquid, kitchen oil, grease, gazoil and everything else. Problem is, ths dust as soon as you'll drive it.
