Sometimes people buy houses that were previously owned and had things done to them which they might not choose to do themselves. Very occasionally perfection is not an available option and one is forced to make compromises.

Some walls are solid. Painting was used as a method to prevent moisture ingress.

right now i have re-paint my house with protection painting a brick wall with paint to protect ur brick work for 15 years if u dont u can get damp and rot in ur house ive come looking on video like this to remove and repaint with primer and main masonry paint to protect my house for few more years dont really need to paint ur house just need to add the protection paint to keep the damp and mold from entering the house or damaging ur brick work. Im painting my house to add value for selling the property making it looked well maintained.

+Beanz572 I didn't really notice any smell from it at all, although I did mine outside.... You could get a 1 litre tester to try out in a confined basement

The wire brush tool in the drill does seem to take off a small amount of the face of the brick as the water goes red. I guess a lighter wire brush would be more gentle but would take more time, on the bricks I have anyhow

+Kenneth Kopczyk It likely would be less damaging than sand blasting. My parents had a wall sandblasted and the brick was old, soft brick. It did strip some of the surface away. It might look better than the horrific painted brick monstrous atrocity.

Peelaway 7 seemed to have the better reviews when I was looking into it.

Brian Guzman If you have quite a bit of work to do, it's probably worth renting a scaffold.

yeah, it probably woul but it was a windy day and I didn't want to have to clean the neighbours cars

But probably would have had to hiresomeone in or a sandblasting machine & compressor and would have had to screen off the whole area in a busy street, this whole job cost me £90, so it was the cheapest and easiest solution for me
