We're renovating another Queenslander, except this time it's for us! Follow along as we renovate and restore this triple gable Queenslander to it's former glory.
In Episode 4 we paint (almost) all of the interior. We used our Wagner Airless Sprayer to paint the original blue and yellow VJs Dulux White on White.

hi Luke, thank u for this video. We are also thinking to paint by ourselves. Do you have a video showing how to DIY painting and all the equipment required? Where did you learn the skills as you were working at an accounting firm? Thank you

Trial and Error, plus lots of Research, is the way we improved our DIY skills. Worked days at accounting firm and nights/weekends renovating! We haven't shot a how to video for using a Paint Sprayer. If you paint with a brush and roller it's straightforward but much slower for a large space. We own a Wagner Control Pro 350m which is a semi-pro paint sprayer. Lots of videos on youtube about how to use it.

Hi Luke, Love the series. Was the Wagner 350 worth the extra money in your opinion? Shopping around for an airless sprayer to paint our Queenslander. Lots in the $500 range, but happy to pay more for ease of use/consistent finish/ease of clean up etc.

I lived in a Queenslander for a time. the bare floor boards were great in summer, but turned the house into an icebox in the winter.

The timber floors can definitely get a little chilly in winter. Our plan is to install insulation under the floors before winter rolls around, so hopefully that makes a difference!

Love the video, my partner and I are about to start renovating our newly purchased double gable Queenslander. I think we will gap seal the vjs before painting. also did you use a ceiling flat white for the ceilings or just the topcoat you used on the walls? Cheers

Congrats on your new home. We love renovating. We used tinted ceiling flat paint (white on white for the ceilings), totally worth it (no flaking!) Vjs gap seal is slow but looks great

nope all timber VJ walls, as this house was built in the 1920s

Casually binge watching your videos. I feel like that "grease" was actually nicotine, if not cleaned properly will seep through paint over time. Not up to date on your videos so unsure if you knew or not! :) loving these reno videos.

We kept calling it smoke 'tar' but you're right it's definitely nicotine from the old owner smoking. So glad you're enjoying the videos!!

I think you should've brush painted the insides instead of spraying the VJ's. I know it probably takes longer but the finish isn't as nice and you can see the bit of dried paint in-between the VJ's. Just my two bob...

Your place is really coming together quickly, very impressed. I made my partner watch your paint and prep video the other day and I think this one has flipped her on a VJ house, watching your bedroom get undercoated was a revelation of potential, thanks heaps for sharing!

Thanks James! We think the house looks pretty good with a fresh coat of paint too. The airless paint sprayer takes a little practice but certainly makes things a lot easier/faster on the VJ walls.

@@heathermorris2254 a few tips I have are: 1. Use high quality paint 2. Spend plenty of time taping and preparing 3. Overlap your previous spray by 50% 4. Always keep your arm moving if you're holding the trigger 5. Try and paint for the whole day because clean a paint sprayer takes time
