Just a suggestion, but I too an shorter in statuer woman. I had to retire this year due to back and shoulder issues. After months of rehab, I'm better now, but I am careful not to over extend myself to cause strain on myself. So i noticed that your work bench is a bit high for you. A working bench that is able to rise up or lower depending on the piece you're working on would be easier on your back and shoulders. Just a thought. ❤😊 I had a cedar just like the one you're working on. I had to sell it when I moved, but it was nice to see you redo this piece. Thank you!❤😊
I wondering if, to release the hot glue, rather than an oil which might be hard to get off completely to have the paint/primer still, if you used a non-stick cooking spray? Maybe that would be a lot easier to remove itself after?
Tears of joy right now! Seeing the sale at the end without a lot of effort is exactly what I have been praying for! Congrats! And YES! THE BEST IS YET TO COME! THANK YOU for showing how to refurbish AND keep some of the original history of the piece… a little ding here and there… a little chip here and there… REALLY adds character to the piece and PRESERVES THE HISTORY! You are a great teacher! I recently had my circa 1880s Dry Sink/Wash Basin restored. The oak wood glows now and isn’t dead looking. The restorer kept the burn marks in the back of my piece, she kept some of the dings and dents! I seriously have been smiling so hard for the past several weeks my face hurts! You two are amazing and I’m predicting 2024 is going to be a Banner Year for you! CONGRATS! 💕 B~}🙏
Just beautiful! I fell in love with the Cracked Pepper colour when you were painting all the interior doors. It really is stunning on a piece of furniture and that cedar chest turned out wonderful. Congrats!!!
So happy to see you flipping furniture again, and you're doing a favorite of mine, a cedar chest. I love cedar chests, the smell, the nostalgia, and the history of them as hope chests for girls and brides. I store linens and blankets in mine with cedar wood chips for extra cedar smell. The grey one you refinished looks great. I like that it has legs, too. Very nice.
You need a paint trolley like Hair dressers have that fold them around when they’re dying hair. I cringe every time I see you prepping paint on other furniture. I’m worried something is going to get damaged. Love seeing you back flipping furniture the shop is a great achievement but nice to see the grassroots still there. Wish I was local to come to one of your classes, but might be a bit of a trip from Scotland😊
I have my Lane cedar chest from 1969 that I’ll be painting in a couple of weeks. My studio isn’t finished yet so I’m not able to start til studio is completed. Am excited by your inspirations.💕💕💕💕
I love the color and it was a beautiful piece to work on. My only complaint is you didn't paint the back of it. 9 times out of 10 a piece like that will be against a wall. But now you are 100% restricted to do that. It doesn't seem like that much more effort to paint the whole piece. I have seen some of your other projects where the underside of a shelf isn't painted, etc. By not painting all of it; it just feels very DIY versus a professionally done makeover which is really where you are now. Just my 2 cents. I think you do great work with your suggestions and ideas and your video's are very easy to follow.
I appreciate the beautiful effect of distressing, but, distressing distresses me. 😊 Probably because I have had that kind of furniture for 50 years- didn't mean to. Lol.
YOU SHOULD REALLY PAINT THE BACK SIDE OF THAT. PEOPLE MAY WANT TO USE IT AS A COFFEE TABLE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND YOU CANN SEE THE BACK PART DOESNT MATCH. I will never understand why the back sides of such beautiful pieces arent finished So many times pieces could have been put in the middle of rooms.
I dont mean just painting wise, I mean when it is being built. Specially Tall Boys. They should be finished on the back side also. It cant cost that much more to put the nice wood or whatever, plain on the back. Ya know...
I think it's that a level of commercialism got added that we're not used to. She's great. The camera work and editing is great. But what was formerly "Genuine thanks, XYZ company!" Just became a commercial. I believe they can find the way back to where they give more content than commercials. They just crossed the line to it. Success is hard. They can manage it.
Beautiful. My touch would be to keep the square tops above the feet, the same wood tone as the top. Also, hand 😊sand paper distress the feet, sided, corners and perhaps lid and front top. You have a great eye. I love your videos. ❤❤❤❤❤
That cracked pepper does have pizazz in it so it’s not just flat black color. I love the stain color on top with it, too. Every time I see a finished piece from you my eyes do this 🤩! Congrats on everything. You work so very hard; you deserve to prosper.
I’ve had a little break from flipping too, and it feels so good to be back! Love watching you along your journey from paying off the school debt all the way through to the store opening. Congratulations to you both-so inspiring!!!
Glad to see my favorite couple do their best again. The shop is pretty impressive as is this comeback to flippa. Thank you both with work, photography and calm excellence and di😊xy belle
I' m happy to see you back and flipping furniture for a new video. This color looks gorgeous!! I wonder how you chose the best color for every piece. The only point I wanted to change is the color of the stain for the veneer on top. I prefered a color which is less orange and brighter than "tobacco". That's purely a matter of taste. ❤❤❤❤
The Hot glue mold is genius! I have a chewed molding on a piece that I am about to restore. I thought I was going to have to replace the entire molding piece. Now I can preserve more of the integrity of the original wood by using your hack! Your videos are awesome. Loving y'all's journey❤
You mentioned restoring/refinishing the cedar interior. Can you tell me what you do to the cedar. I have a problem with the cedar smelling like moth balls (Thank you Aunt Mary) and I've tried so many things to get the smell out. Otherwise the interior is really beautiful. Your piece is fantastic. Well done!
Lauren, I bought three of your wax melts. I, as well as several others with me, think it a great idea to change the labels on your amber jars. We initially thought there was no labeling. The black lettering does not show up well. Just a kind idea, not being critical. 🙃
That looks so good! What a transformation ♥ It's really a shame that you are not as transparent and write with big numbers on the screen the amount of money you got from the piece. I really loved that about your videos.
There may be a chance this drips you called a bleeder are old nicotine from years of being in the home of a smoker. Old nicotine reacts the same as this piece.🥰
I thought your excitement about you selling your first piece from your opening store, as I just open mine I got so excited it was like happy tears, and I felt what you felt, that turned out beautiful by the way, congrats!
