@Wife: To ensure a 100% cancer free husband I advice the additional use of a mask, a full body spandex suit and a butt plug (those poisonous fumes are literally EVERYWHERE)
I know this is random, but I literally own the pewter version of the Slayer ontop of the Greater Daemon head that's in the center of your channel banner.. Never seen that model outside of my own group, wow.
I'm not a big fan of funko pops, but this paint job is great. Also that tip about doing your freehand in grey first because it's easier to correct than black is a such a fantastic idea.
Love the Pop paint job!!! Dude when are you going to bring back the 'Eavy Metal Marines series?! I want to see you tackle the Space Wolves Chapter next!
Good job on painting that figure. I was always more of a legion of the Damned guy myself what with them basically being an army of Ghost Riders, but I've been told the Imperial fists are pretty cool.
Just painted my 5th model and boi is it fun! Already way better. Your channel helped get me into killteam and go from "awwww eff got to paint to play.." to "AAAAAAWWWWW EFF I GET TO PAINT?!
Tip for masking: if you want.to reduce leaking under tape take some.of the colour below it (red in this case for the head) and spray along the mask seam. Some leaks.under and dries but won't change the colour and sorta seals the tape in
6:55 - Space Marine power armour is made from ceramic (specifically, "ceramite") plates. Outside of the electromechanical components inside, there's not a lot of metal to be found.
This video brought me to your channel. You should paint (or re-paint stylized) more funko pops! I make custom funkos, and this video really helped me make my Funkos POP with awesome coloring techniques! Thanks dood :)
Speaking of cancer-prevention, I picked up some of Liquitex's "cadmium-free" acrylic gouaches in mid-yellow and red, to try and see if they could produce a nice opaque yellow or red base coat or indeed if they'd airbrush well. Nothing to report as of yet.
I'm a noob and I hope by the end of this year I'll be painting my first hobby piece. Your videos are so inspiring to watch, as a 53 year old I feel like I'm rediscovering mini's again. As a kid and teen I created D&D worlds, played DOOM, and wrote code for my own pc gaming pleasure in the late 70"s and through all of the 80's. But life happened in year 89 and I grew up.
Wasn't gonna watch due to the mini, but then thought you were likely doing a tutorial to show case techniques. I was pleasantly rewarded. Thanks dude. Keep me watching and learning :-)
Love funko pops I’ve done a stormtrooper and bb-8 custom as well as a batman for my son, you know before you paint the pop to put it in hot water for about 10 mins and you can pull that head right off yea
The mini looks awesome, something I really couldn’t accomplish, but (I know it’s a Detail no one would ever notice) shouldn’t the helmet also have at least a little Battle damage? Love your videos
I like you more for every video you release. I think i will fall in love with you if this goes on! Great as always Scott! (Now i want an airbrush even more)
Gotta ask if you saw the amazing Space Wolf version by Rasta Maice over on the Weekend Warlords channel? That thing is stunning! Yours is pretty good too!
Maybe buy some white cotton gloves and wear them under the latex gloves to avoid sweaty hands. Or you can get some builders gloves from your local hardware store, they're thick enough to protect your hands and thin enough to handle minis.
I've seen some painters use putty to mask off a miniature; it conforms to weird shapes really well and doesn't seem to mess with the paint when you remove it.
I have a question and sorry that it has nothing to do with this vid. I want to paint Tzolk'in and I want them (gears) to look like Stone. Planing on priming it with gray, doing a black wash and then dry brushing them with a much lighter gray. Do I have to put a base coat of gray even if it is going to be the same as the primer? Also for the smaller ones I want to give them a little color but not like when you use a wash of the color. So can I do the same thing as I did with big one but also dry brush it with the Color I want? Or would it take away the stone look?
If it makes you feel any better Scott, I am in the same boat. Painting for years without issue, my wife sees a video...thanks to the joy of Amazon Prime next day there are 3 boxes of gloves. To be fair, I do think it is better for the minis as well as I know that oils and whatnot from your hand are bad for the minis and paint adhesion etc.
Yes it can be a thing. Any time your cells get exposed to things that break up chemical bonds you can get replication errors in cell division AKA cancer. We're talking about skin cancer here, so if you expose your skin to solvents you can get skin cancer. A day at the beach without sunblock is probably more dangerous than brief exposures to solvents. But if you're dunking your hands in solvents all day every day you should wear gloves.
@@glenmurie if you paint enough space marines I am sure that their traits, for example superiour healing are taken up by your own body. No problem at all. You probably never get sick again or poisened. And your wounds clot within seconds... maybe
Hey, somehow just noticed the big Morbius movie poster in the background! Looks rad! You a spidey fan or just Morbius? Got any thoughts on his upcoming movie?
They suggested that paint scheme because they don't know anything about warhammer lol. They just watched something you already did and got you to do that xD
No not for painting, only the intercessor. They have 4 Pop Vinyls already painted. Primaris Intercessor, Dark Angels Veteran, Blood Claw Pack Leader and an Assault Marine with pointy helmet.
Probably a bit late to the party looking at when the video was uploaded(new to the channel!) but clicking on the referral link threw up a flag on my browser - it thinks it's a dodgy link. Might be worth mentioning to Gemr? Cool videos man, many thanks for uploading :)
