I might try this for some eldar power weapons I'm also tempted to make a rainbow warrior Sergent for my deathwatch army. Your lore video turned that chapter from a meme chapter in my eyes to something pretty cool. Keep up the great work

I like the old paint bottles in the background. I have one old, hex-shaped, paint bottle with still flowing paint. That is how I learned not to lick my paint brush, whatever chemicals they added to keep the paint flowing is not for consumption. :)

tip for that middle line on the sword, use pinstriping tape, basically like 3-6mm wide painters tape, stick it either side and use the side of an old but ok brush to stipple on the line lightly

One thing I would like to see more of in painting tutorials videos in general (unless I keep missing them) is not just how to do one type of model idea, but an entire group or set. Like for example when you see said model paint scheme, we eventually see a unit to get an idea of how the rest would look on the tabletop before fully committing to said idea. Like Outrun-Neon Necrons. Though understandably AFTER you get your one paint scheme idea done for video based on one model or sure! But it be so need to see a unit displaying said ideas. I'm always up to know how to do something like 10 Skaven Clanrats, or 13 Tyranid Termagants in an interesting way through the best and fastest methods possible, and it not feel like a chore.

Welcome to the RU-vid family. Where the real painters live. 😂 When it comes to that central ridge on the sword I tend to make sure I've got a colour down that I can easily go back to. Take my recently finished Roboute Guilliman's the Emperor's Sword.I did two edge-highlights, one of Yriel Yellow and one of White Scar. Sadly the lines went a little wonky, so I used some Iyanden Yellow (which was used to shade the blade) and slowly feathered it on to reduce the size of the smudged line. Really cool sword effect. I always struggle to paint these types of effects on weapons, usually just go with a silver. But I have been practising my glazing method on my Necron characters.

you can run a strip of painters tape just off the center of the blade and use that like a ruler to guide the brush

I saw that prismatic effect in your other video and I've been wanting to try that on the Witchblades for my Farseers and Warlocks. For the middle part of the sword and similar difficult edges I keep a brush that has developed a hook around and use the outside curve of the hook with a tiny amount of paint. It only touches the edge and curves away from the flat sections. You get a straight line with minimal effort.

For the middle bit of the sword- I would think drybrushing would work here, especially if used with a metallic paint. I'm going to be taking this idea to my Storm Raven's canopy now to make a mirrored effect. Hopefully it turns out well.

whenever i wasn't super confident in a new technique i would use old sprues/bits i had no use for or some cheaper DnD models to test on! it really helped me grow as a painter especially when I'd have awesome tutorials like this playing in the background. (: happy hobbying!

thats a seriously nice effect, never even thought of stuff like that but thats wonderfully different and effective and as a bonus doesn't look that difficult (in theory).. and if you think that sword centre line isn't straight I'm going to go and cry in a corner :)
