In today's garden ready for summer video I am painting our UPVC back door, freshening it up until I do a full refurbishment spray job on the door in a year or two. I'm using the Frenchic Alfresco range of paints, in the Smudge grey colour.

Have tried this paint and other water based paints. They scratch off too easily and you will end up doing it every year like here. I did my door with oil based primer, undercoat and topcoat. Looked really good and doesn’t scratch off .

I used this on the garden room door also a few years ago and that is still going strong. The dog jumps up at the handle of the back door to let himself in, which is what scratches it off. I have no affiliation with Frenchic by the way, incase this reads as a defensive comment 😂😂

I didn’t until a couple of years ago. I wasn’t sure how well the paint would hold up, but the windows have been done for about 3 years without any issues.

The difference is amazing. New Grey PVC is so expensive and this makes your white doors and windows like new again. Great job and thanks for sharing the info 👍

Looks great! You mentioned if painting an unpainted upvc door to scuff it up first, what’s the best way of doing that-can you use sand paper?

Thank you. When I initially painted the unpainted door I keyed it up with a scotch pad to get into all of the tight areas. I think I also used some sandpaper too. It doesn’t want to be too scuffed or it will show through the paint. 400 grit or above sandpaper would be fine.
