I'm so glad I found you. You have changed my perspective on what makes a teacher. There are abundant teachers out there, but you, Sir, are the highest quality, I'm honored to learn from you. Thank you for your beautiful scenery, I will give a go, either way, it's an important lesson. i will take much away from it to how water to add or remove, how to treat my paper, mixing paint. 😊😊😊
Wow another fantastic lesson Joe, and quiet a lot of practice on my part with a lot of brush technic and colour mixing - should keep me out of trouble for a little while. Thank you so very much.
Bescause it works just as well, is half the price, and I can carry twice as much paper when I travel overseas on a plein air painting trip. I will do a video on it some time. 😊
What are the preferred colours to have if I want to invest in painting landscape in long-term. would be lovely if you can suggest a whole palette of 12 -24 thankyou
I will have to produce a video on this subject. I basically use 90lb because it is lighter, so if I travel it is half the weight, it also does the job as well as heavier weight paper, it also dries quicker which is important when painting on a cold morning, it is also half the cost. I have only used Arches paper, so cannot comment on other 90lb material.
I have been struggling with a foggy mountain scene for awhile so this lesson was very helpful. Would you consider a waterfall scene? I bought your first book and these youtube lessons are a nice addition. Thank you.
Yes, I have waterfalls on my list of future videos. Not for a little while though as I have a number to do before then. Thank you for purchasing my book, I appreciate you support. Let me know if you have any other questions.
This was so helpful! I've been learning to work in watercolor for a short time. I wanted to paint the scene of a foggy morning using as reference a photo I took while kayaking. Thanks so much for posting this video. It really helped me to achieve the effect I wanted!
Thank you for showing us how distance affects colors and how objects in the distance should be painted particularly when there is a mist. A beautiful picture!
I use Arches, 185 gsm paper. If you are referring to my wetting of the back of the paper, that is how much wetting it can take. Most other professional, similar weight, papers would need about the same amount of wetting.
Joe… Love these videos, this one simple to draw. But in the more difficult ones like Venice, can you provide a sketch for us to follow along? Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent!
Hi Kim, are you asking for a download link for the sketch, or just to include the drawing section within the video? Very happy for the feedback, thanks.
