Messing about with painting handles….
Amazon storefront link that has some of my most used hobby products for you to take a look at,
These are links to products I have used from the most popular sellers, as ever if you have a local hobby store that stocks this stuff please support them - they are the centres of your hobby community - if not then feel free to use the links through amazon and I get a little commission that helps the channel, (prices change on Amazon frequently - these are suppliers I have used as they were good value when i used them)
www.amazon.co.uk/shop/adamsho...
My Linktree thingy where you can find links to my eBay (I sell projects sometimes instantly when I’ve finished them, sometimes years later) and Facebook/Instagram etc ..

After years of research I can conclude champagne corks are the most expensive painting handles

Gold bars with blu-tac would also raise the cost 😂

Especially if the cork brakes in half while your trying to take it out of a bottle.

Hear me out about the large GW handle, I like to magnetize my models so I bought a big ol' washer that just lives in there now that I can spin around while the models are on top. It really works nice and is so easy to swap while batch painting. Thanks for the comprehensive review so I could see what else is out there in action.

Sounds like a good alteration, my issue with the big GW handle is the strength of the clamps, after sentinels falling off and hitting the table a few times I gave up on it!

I picked up a dozen decorative wooden handles for 3 bucks at a thrift shop today. 14 cm long, 3cm wide, and the curve fits well in my hand. Pretty happy with that find.

Sounds like a great pick up! Good size to them.

Actimel bottles are actually great, especially the Lidl own brand that have a screw cap - you can fix a 32mm base right over it

Now that’s interesting and you improve your health in getting them!

Thanks for sharing your insight into handles. 👍 I use a wooden brush handle that I cut into pieces, it cost about £3 and crated more than 10 pieces great for batch painting guard infantry.

Much cheaper than buying ‘real’ handles and ideal for models like guard. Plus you can use the sawdust generated from chopping it up for basing material!

I use pill bottles. The tops lock and can be changed while leaving them on the cap. And the best part is most people have these and usually throw them out. So free.

Glass dropper bottles, 4" tall and 1.5" wide are heavy and easy to grip.

The sizes of those sound good, my main issue with paint pots is they are a little small in my hands.

I’ve found the now oop large painting handle from GW to be fairly good for mid size 50mm-75mm based models. For a really cheap handle that has a rotating head I’d highly recommend old medicine bottles.

I never picked up the old large one, it’s a shame as I really don’t like the new one! Medicine bottle is one I’ve never tried either.

Did you ever mount the metal rod on the Amazon one all the way? Sliding on the metal "lock" etc? If you didn't, i can totally understand why you didn't like it.

I did and I just couldn’t get on with it, I think it may be because I use an arch style light and it was really awkward using the handle under this with the metal attachment.
