Painting Horses with Oil Paints Part I 

Really glad I found this. You explain the useage and techniques well. I paint miniatures but also want to start painting large scale horses like Breyers (1:9) with oils. This will help me get started.

This is beautiful! I usually just use pastels but was curious and I think I may give oils a go as they seem to achieve what I want.

Acrylics need mediums to do fine work - liquid acrylics and medium - I use airbrush medium (very water like) and others.

What would you recommend as a primer for painting oils on your figures please? This is very important to be understood from the very beginning if oils are to be used.

Why are you not using turpentine or white spirit?

Try sennlier oils there amazing.
